The Long Ride: A Billionaire Romance Page 10

Westley had looked extremely surprised when Karlee hugged him, but had raised a hand and patted her gently on the back. He’d smiled at Gabe over the top of her head and mouthed, “Good people.”

She’d met Gabe’s friend Tony, who’d grinned and shook her hand vigorously up and down. He’d said something about someone in Accounting absolutely owing him twenty bucks, but when she asked Gabe about it he said it was a private joke and wasn’t important.

Once everything quieted down and they had some time to themselves, Gabe suggested they go for a cruise on his yacht, but she’d had a better idea. That was how they ended up back at the Hot Tub Hotel—a name they had christened it with only a few minutes ago.

After the hot tub, Karlee made Gabe go to the bathroom and wait for her. While he was there she erected a sheet in the middle of the room. (One of the many uses of duct tape.) She chuckled the whole way while Gabe kept asking her what she was up to. Then she called out for him to come back in.

He laughed. “What’s this? You don’t want to sleep with me?”

“This is the Firewall,” she said. “You don’t get in unless you have the password; now go to your side!”

Then, slowly but surely she started to undress, until she was completely naked.

“You do realize I can see you?” he said.

  She giggled. “That’s the plan.”

Then she lay on the bed and looked at his silhouette through the sheet. “Now, you can only come to my side if you have the password.”

  “I love you,” Gabe whispered.

Karlee pulled down the sheet and smiled. “That is correct. I love you too.”

Gabe moved forward and kissed her. Then he took off his clothes and made love to her. It was slow, beautiful and passionate. Afterwards, while they lay in bed together, he reached over for his Harry Potter book and grinned.

“I’m on book number three already. I hope you have your book here too?”

Karlee grinned and reached for hers. She held it up. “Always.”

They lay there, just reading together, like a normal couple. It felt good.
