I smile and roll my eyes. I hear a few mumbles from the men behind me and I turn around to face the jail. My dad walks across the parking lot. His head his held high, his pride evident.
“Did I say you could drive my bike?” he asks, sternly. I cross my arms and stare up at him. “Get your ass up and give me a hug.”
The weight is lifted off my shoulders. No disappointment. No anger. No frustration. He doesn’t have to apologize for being an ass. Whether or not he says the words, I know he means them.
I climb off his bike and throw my arms around him. His familiar scent of leather is soothing, just like it always has been.
“You fixed it.” he whispers in my ear. “Just like you always have.”
I reluctantly let him go and slip on behind Luka. My dad gives me a wink as he gets on his bike and fires it up. I feel the vibration between my legs as Luka starts his bike. I strap my helmet on and hear my dad yell, “Let’s ride!”
This will never get old for me. It will always be my favorite feeling.
A bike rumbling beneath me.
The wind in my hair.
The Ravens surrounding me.
My legs wrapped around the man I love.
Damn…this is my family. I’ll never choose a different life.
Look for more to come from the Ravens soon!!!
