“Did you eat?” I asked, plopping down next to him.
“Yeah, I ordered room service. How was the beach?”
“Relaxing. Janette’s in rough shape and James doesn’t look much better. I’m glad I stopped when I did.”
John put his arm around me and I snuggled into his chest.
The rest of the vacation was spent much this way, spending quiet moments together. We ventured to the dining area for meals, spent time together on the beach and intimate time in the hot tub. I felt bad, turning down people who wanted to party with John and I.
On the last full day, I returned the borrowed books and sat on the beach, staring at the lagoon. Life had a way of surprising me. I was devastated by my divorce and once I had recovered, found I was yearning for more. I dove into my sexual education with both feet, never expecting to find a connection, let alone love. I invited John here to have wild and crazy sex and it wound up making me want him and only him, at least for the most part.
Janette was right, I needed to find a balance. John and I would have to remain open with each other about expectations and desires. Things were going very well for me personally and professionally. The key was not screwing it up. Moving in with John was a risk, but a risk I was ready to take.
My Dirty White Candy internet profile had led me to James and Janette who turned out to be very hospitable and gracious friends. They’d showered me with gifts, took John and I on vacation and now gave me sound relationship advice.
Olivia was back at the office making sure my career stayed on track while I took the ultimate vacation.
I could only think of one thing I wanted and it wasn’t time yet.
