Beth turned his face to hers and kissed him, deep, soft and loving. “You never will be again.” Then she grinned. “Get used to it, family man. You’re going to be surrounded by your wife and children. I want at least three more kids, and after years of being a single mother, I believe in the benefits of shared parenting, diaper changes, cleaning spit-ups and all.”
“Yes, ma’am.” McCall laughed in the sheer joy of it. Brendan McCall, The Untouchable, The Ice Man, complete career Nighthawk would never be the same man again. A harassed dad, diaper changer, part-time football coach, helping out with her church fetes, cooking and cleaning and taking out the garbage.
