  Dear Reader:

I hope you have enjoyed this visit with the Pembrooke family and their friends. They were so much fun to write about, I find I can’t quite let them go. So they will soon make another appearance in “Beneath the Asphalt” and other tales, as long as you like reading about them.

Blackshore is a fictional town, but Bruce County is very real. If you should find yourself driving along its tree-lined side roads or enjoying the clean, cool waters of Lake Huron which embraces its towns and villages, you may suddenly catch a movement out of the corner of your eye. Maybe you’ll see a wisp of fog flit over the water or fade into the forest. No fear, you may have caught a glimpse of Leander, or even Luke and Florence. They enjoy visiting the beaches and woodlands like any other tourist. Just say hey for me.

  Until next time,

  Gloria

  About the Author

Gloria Ferris began her writing career by authoring and editing operating procedures for a nuclear power development. It was an exciting job, but opportunities for plot and character development were limited, so she turned to crime fiction and found it to be a lot more fun. Cheat the Hangman was shortlisted for the 2009 Crime Writers of Canada Unhanged Arthur contest.

Gloria recently moved back to her native Guelph, Ontario, after spending 20 plus years in several small towns by Lake Huron, which inspired her mysteries. The stories are written in a humorous style, but the crimes are deadly serious. A sequel to Cheat the Hangman is in the works.
