“We will appeal,” his attorney said to reporters with a stoic look on his face. “My client maintains that he was framed in this crime and we will clear his name. That is all,” he said before walking away.
All I could do was smile as I thought about my ride with LaTisha that day.
“So, what do you have in mind?” She had asked me. I could tell that she was ready for revenge.
“I talked to Franklin William’s wife about a way to get him back for how he had destroyed her family. When I laid it down to her that I wanted to bring him down she wasn’t for it at first. It seems elaborate, but Dean deserves whatever he gets. I explained to Angeline that Dean had tried to kill someone very dear to me and that he was trying to hurt me too. She believed me when I told her that Dean had confessed his plot of vengeance against her husband. I told her that I want Elisa to pretend that he raped her and I want you to help me.” As I looked over at her, her eyes were wide as hell.
“Why rape?” She asked skeptically. “I mean, shit…fuck it. You’re right. He deserves whatever he gets. What can I do?”
“I have someone who can hack his Facebook, Twitter and email. All I need for you to do is go back and forth with Elisa from his computer when you get all of the log in information. Don’t worry, you’re going to switch his laptop with one just like it and then switch it back when the investigation starts. Do you think you could do that?”
She nodded and then I continued. “Do you have access to one of his credit cards?”
“Yes, he can’t even keep up with them,” she said.
“Okay, we are going to need it to reserve a room. Of course Elisa knows what is going on. Her mom agreed to do this only in the event that her daughter does not have to really come in physical contact with Dean. I assured her that I would figure out a way to do it and now thanks to you, I have. I also need you to sleep with that clown and make sure that he does not flush the condom. Be sure that he lets you take it off and dispose of it for him. Keep it safe. We’re going to need it to put his DNA on the sheets. Although there will be no semen inside her, the question would be how did his semen end up on the sheets in that particular hotel suite. All of the evidence will point at his guilt and her age will blind the jury.”
“So that means that Elisa’s mother knows that she’s not a virgin,” LaTisha pointed out. “She would have to have protected sex prior to her examination to prove evidence of intercourse.”
“That’s how I came up with the idea. I know Elisa personally and she had asked me for advice when she lost her virginity to her little boyfriend. He’s so cute. Anyway, I told her that she should tell her mother and get on birth control and she did. That won’t come up in the trial because no one will testify that her character is that of a girl who would have sex with an older man. Plus, her gynecologist has patient/doctor confidentiality laws to follow. Her sexual history won’t come up. We have this in the bag,” I had said trying to convince myself that we could pull it off.
“You think we can really get him locked away for good. Why didn’t you and Rah just report him for…?”
I cut her off. “That would sound like the most reasonable thing to do and why put that young girl through this right? You would probably wonder why her mother would even go along with it. Well, Elisa is a female and a minor. There is a better chance of things going in her favor for a conviction. What happened with me and Rah would’ve been all circumstantial being that the only witnesses were dead. We also didn’t need that type of press. Sympathy press will only help rebuild the Williams family. We are both desperate and we have some real pros at scheming on our team. No worries. We will bring him down.” I was referring to Dean and Chang the computer expert.
“Well, what if they test the sheet for her bodily fluids. We will probably need for her to…you know…”
“Yeah, that makes sense. Maybe then we can get her on camera as evidence that she was really there. It would put her at the scene even if his face was never seen on camera. If he was going there to commit a crime he would try not to be seen. He just made a mistake by letting his semen spill onto to the sheets. It’ll be open and shut.”
Later that week Raheem called and reserved the room from the cell phone that LaTisha had stolen when Dean was asleep. He thought he had lost it, but she had slipped it back to him by pretending like she had found it when she was cleaning up. The history had been erased, but the call was still traced to his personal cell phone.
The plan had gone off without a hitch and Elisa had pulled off an Oscar worthy performance. She wanted to be a model/actress and her college fund had been depleted to pay several law suits off for her father and for her parents’ divorce. There had been a ruling that a percentage of Dean’s estate go to Elisa to help pay for her college fund. A civil suit was in effect on Angeline’s part to pay for her pain and suffering due to Dean’s ill will against her husband. Her life had been ruined and she had also been publically humiliated. Her lifestyle had been forever changed and her children were her top priority. With our bogus case there would be a negative light casted on her family again, but something good would come of it. Not only would Dean finally get locked up, but he was also going to pay for ruining their lives financially.
After putting the beginning of the plan in motion we made sure that we had a man who fit Dean’s description to check into the room. He had a bogus ID that displayed the same name that the room had been reserved in. When the white front desk clerk was asked to describe the man who had checked in the suite, he described Dean with a pair of shades on. It was really Raheem’s boy Corey. You know white people claimed we all looked alike. He pointed Dean out when the prosecutor asked him to point out the man he saw check in that day. So although there were no eye witnesses to see what had actually happened in that suite, there was still some type of proof that put them both at the scene of the crime.
After Corey checked in he gave LaTisha the key and she used a side entrance to get in. She was in full disguise and was sure to avoid any security cameras. In no time she had spread Dean’s semen all over the bed and rushed out. Right after that Elisa went in and made sure that she was seen on the cameras. She went inside the room and did her thing. She didn’t emerge from the room until forty five minutes later. The time frame would fit the statement that she later gave police.
It worked out perfectly because on the day of the alleged crime LaTisha made sure to let Dean’s housekeeper have the day off. After that she cooked a nice meal for Dean, put a few sleeping pills in his beer and left. It was perfect because it left him without a solid alibi.
No one saw anything other than the front desk clerk, but Dean’s semen was still there on the sheets. When Elisa was asked why she had no semen inside of her, she said, “He used a condom and when he was done he spilled some while taking it off I guess. I was fighting him, so anything could have happened. After he was done with me he was anxious to get out of there. I was sure to report it right away just in case there was some evidence to collect.”
It had gone down without a hitch. Raheem walked into the bedroom and gave me a big kiss. “I guess you heard huh?” He was beaming about the guilty verdict and the success of yet another plan to bring an enemy down.
“Yes, it’s finally over. My enemies have all been incarcerated. I just hope neither of them realize who framed them. Just let them stay locked up long enough to forget that I exist.”
“I didn’t think Elisa’s mom was going to go along with it. Who wants their daughter to do something like that? I guess it was a desperate measure in a critical situation. He was still a threat to them although he felt like he had taken Frankie down,” he said as he pulled me back against his chest.
“Do you miss rapping?” I asked changing the subject. I didn’t want to even think about Dean anymore. I had nightmares almost every night after Rah and I were held at gunpoint. My man had been there for me and the nightmares had finally stopped. I couldn’t talk to anyone else about it, but at least I had him by my sid
e. He had assured me that I could talk to him about it whenever I needed to.
“In a way, but I am going to enroll in school and finish getting my degree. Having money doesn’t stop me from wanting to do that shit. Besides, you and my ma dukes both like that idea better. Admit it. I won’t be mad.”
I laughed. “No seriously baby, I was down for you. For real. At first I was skeptical, but then I got used to the idea of Rah Lyrics. I must admit that I like the boring college student better than the big famous rapper. Honestly, I don’t even think I want to bask in the spotlight like that anymore. I am doing this clothing line because it’s my big dream, but I don’t think I want to model anymore. As much as I wanted to do the reality show at first, I don’t now. All of the craziness makes me want to be behind the scenes and as private as possible. Surprised huh?” I asked.
“Extremely,” Rah said as his lips gently caressed my ear.
“I hope we didn’t ruin Elisa’s life. I didn’t want her to feel like a pawn or anything, but she was ready to do it. It was like she wanted to avenge her father, although he had wronged her mother. They have lost so much since what happened to Frankie and I just wanted to not only help us, but I wanted to help them too. I just hope she won’t suffer after this. I don’t want her to carry the stigma of being a rape victim around with her. Although we won, I still feel bad.” I sighed and turned to wrap my arms around him.
“Elisa will be okay. She has a strong support system. Shit, there’s a Facebook page up that’s against Dean. It has over a million followers. Her friends and school mates testified that she is not a promiscuous person. Not only that, but her teachers raved about her. She will be fine and if anything this has benefited her. A man like Dean doesn’t need to have freedom or money, so now he’s locked up and broke. That’s just how we need his ass to be. As far as Elisa and her family, they will be okay. It’s already been set into motion and she will be able to pay for college and have a normal life.”
“I hope so.”
He brushed my hair out of my face and kissed the tip of my nose. “Have I told you that I love you today?” He asked.
“You could never tell me enough. Now can you please feed me? I’m starving over here.” I giggled as he tickled me playfully.
“Where do you want to go?” He asked as he finally gave me some mercy and stopped tickling me.
“Surprise me.”
He leaned over and softly planted a kiss on my lips. “I know the perfect place. C’mon.” He pushed me off his lap and we headed to the door hand in hand.
* * *
When we pulled up to Rah’s mother’s two story, brick house, I couldn’t help but smile. “She invited us to dinner,” he said with a sly grin on his face.
“Please tell me that she cooked her famous lasagna,” I said hopefully.
He turned the ignition off and then put the keys in his pocket. “You told me to surprise you. Remember?”
I laughed. “You’re a trip.”
It was good to see Raheem’s mother and she seemed to be happy to see me too. So happy that marriage and children came up while we were all seated at the table. Her lasagna was delicious and the amazing fresh baked garlic bread was even better, but I didn’t expect for those topics to came up.
“So, Rah, when are you two going to tie the knot and give me some grandbabies?” There was a huge grin on her face, but I knew that she wasn’t joking.
I almost choked on my wine and Raheem cleared his throat. “Well ma, I don’t know about all of that right now. It’s in the future though. We’ll keep you posted.” He chuckled good-naturedly.
I gave him a weird look and he shrugged his shoulders. His mother didn’t catch it because she was so busy checking on her delicious fresh baked apple pie. She sat back down at the table. “So, Seantay, how do you feel about Raheem giving up his rap career? He told me about what happened. I have to admit that what ya’ll did in the studio sounds like something I would’ve done in my twenties.” His mom was so cool. “I’m proud of him for standing up for you.”
I smiled up at her and took another sip of wine. “I was not really feeling the whole idea of him rapping at first, but I came around. I hate that he had to give it up, but I am also proud of him. I guess we did get carried away a little, but we just can’t keep our hands off each other.” I gave him a wink.
“Oh, I understand young love, believe me,” she said with a contemplative look on his face.
“This food is so good Mrs…”
“Call me Jackie,” she said. “I already told you about that Mrs. stuff.”
I laughed. “Sorry Jackie, but I swear if you were my mom, I’d be so fat.”
She chuckled. “I don’t think you could get fat if you tried. You have the perfect figure. Just like me at your age.”
Jackie was a beautiful woman. She was in her late forties, but didn’t look a day over thirty five. Her smooth, mocha complexion was wrinkle free and she didn’t have one strand of gray hair on her head. Her shoulder length chestnut brown hair was bouncy and shiny. With nice, full lips, light brown eyes and a shapely figure, she could still hang with the best of them.
“You still have a nice figure Mrs…sorry… Jackie.”
She gave me warning look and then a smile. “Rah, I think you have finally found a winner. I swear, I don’t know what that mess was that he used to bring home before you. So damn ghetto and impolite. They called me Jackie without permission.”
We both laughed, but Rah didn’t. “C’mon ma,” he protested to her telling about his past.
“I can imagine,” I said as I cracked up.
We continued to laugh and talk as I shared a slice of apple pie with Raheem. When we finally left it was dark and all I wanted to do was go to sleep.
“I’m so full,” Rah complained as he pulled out of the driveway.
“Mmm, me too. You know I had to get some to go right?”
He smiled at me and then kissed my cheek. “I noticed that you didn’t really say anything when ma mentioned marriage and shit. I’m used to you being like unt uhh, I am not having any babies.” He frowned his face up as he imitated me to a tee.
I laughed as he kept on mocking me.
“Marriage? Why should I get married? Marriage is an old ass institution of ownership. I have a last name. Why do I need some man’s last name? Do you remember saying that?” He asked.
“I do. I told you that when we used to kick it back in the day. I was young then Rah and I didn’t know shit about love. Now that I do anything is possible. I’m not going to rush it, but I’m not going to completely rule it out either. I can understand your mom wanting you to settle down and give her some grandbabies. You have a small family, unlike me. She wants some babies around to keep her company since you’re all grown up. She needs some children to spoil.”
He glanced over at me and the street lights illuminated his handsome features. “You wanna make a baby tonight?” The look on his face was serious, but I had to laugh.
“I don’t think so MC Fuck A Lot. I have a meeting with Camille in the morning and I can’t miss it. You know how we are. I will never get any sleep messing with you. We are spending the night apart tonight sexy.”
He had a pout on his face when he looked at me that time. “Really?” He asked.
“I’m sorry baby.”
“Yeah, whatever,” he said with a fake attitude.
“Are you really mad at me?” I leaned over and kissed his cheek. The tantalizing scent of his cologne made me want to change my mind about staying with him.
“No, I understand that you have to handle business and I would definitely keep you up all night handling business.”
“So I am glad that you see where I am coming from,” I said gratefully.
“I do and I am so proud of my gorgeous lil’ entrepreneur.”
“Aww, thanks babe. I love you.” He could be so sweet at times and I was glad that Dean and Nafis were no longer a threat to us.
“I love you too,” he sa
id as I thought about how we could finally let our relationship grow to the next level. I smiled at the prospect of a successful career and a bright future with my man by my side. Things were finally beginning to fall into place.
Chapter 25
Seandra
I hadn’t seen my girls Jamica and Gabby in months and was dying to get in on the latest Cinnamon Star gossip. I also wanted to know what was going on with Ahmad. Okay, so I wasn’t being at all true to my feelings. If anything I was torturing myself. Dr. Fletcher told me that it was pointless for me to try to avoid pain when I was clearly hurting anyway. By denying my love for Ahmad I was in a way inadvertently punishing myself.
“I sent you an invitation months ago and although you didn’t RSVP, I still put you on the list. It’s at eight pm downtown at Escalades. Please be there. It’s a charity benefit and you might need some good press right now.” Gabby chuckled.
“Very funny chica. I guess I’ll come. Karaoke really isn’t my thing, but…”
“No buts, not unless you’re going to be in the place showing yours off in something tight. With all that ass you got, if you get on the stage you’ll get all types of money thrown at you. You missed your calling girl. Maybe you should’ve been a stripper.”
“Oh, you really got jokes huh?” I laughed. “I’ll see you at eight boo and I will be hot, believe that.”
“Oh, I do. The cameras will be flashing, so get it in like only your fly ass can do,” she motivated me.
“Uh, will…will he be there?” I had to ask. It didn’t really matter, but I wasn’t quite ready to hang out with him after our last encounter.
“He didn’t RSVP either, so I don’t think so. Besides, I didn’t put him on the list. I wanted you to come and I knew…”
I cut her off. “Yeah. Well, it’s still early and I need to get my hair and makeup done. Ciao.”
