  Prologue

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We’d like to welcome you onboard this Virgin Airlines flight to New York LaGuardia. Flight duration will be approximately four hours and fifty-five minutes, and we are expecting a fairly smooth flight today. Once again, we thank you for choosing to fly with us today, and we hope you enjoy your flight."

I sit back in my first-class seat, turning to look out the window while everyone is boarding, reflecting on the best week of my life.

One week, that is what we agreed upon. One week, no strings, no attachments is what we both said. But now, here I sit on this bloody plane with my chest hurting.

I cocked up everything when I walked out of that hotel room like a wanker while she was still in the shower. I know it. Fuck, she probably knows it, too. I just couldn’t say goodbye to her.

“Sir, would you care for any water or champagne?” the cute blond flight attendant asks me.

I look up at her as her smile gets bigger and her eyes twinkle.

“Excuse me,” I hear a voice I didn’t expect to hear. “That’s my seat.”

The flight attendant moves, giving me an unobstructed view of the woman I walked away from just a short time ago. She stands there, her legs on full display in a pair of sexy, black linen shorts. She is almost five feet ten inches tall, and she’s all leg. I’ve become very intimate with those legs this past week. Her loose, pink top falls off her shoulder, displaying her lightly tanned neck, and my mouth waters with the need to lean in and bite it, to mark her.

“My apologies, ma’am,” the flight attendant says, walking away.

I watch her raise her bag to store it in the overhead bin. Before I can even get up to help her, the man sitting in the seat across from her springs up. He smiles at her, she smiles at him, and it’s in that moment that everything I was holding back snaps.

My name is Bradley Fitch, and this is how I fell in love with my best friend’s sister.

  Chapter One

  Lexi

“Do you really think this is a good idea?” My best friend, Melanie’s, voice echoes through the phone.

I bend over my bed, looking for my luggage, and my hair falls into my face. Sighing, I blow the hair out of my eyes as I continue to talk with Melanie. “I’m going, Mel. I’ve had this trip planned since Christmas.” I throw the luggage on the bed, unzipping it. “Besides, I’m not losing my money.” I open my drawers, sifting through them for my bikini. “I’m going. I need to get away and just be free for a week. It’s not my fault that you can’t come. Besides, women do it all the time.”

“Yeah, they also get kidnapped and sold to men from other countries as sex slaves,” she tells me.

I laugh at her. “I think that only happens if your father is Liam Neeson, but it’s not a big deal because ‘he can find you.’”

“Joke all you want, but this shit is serious,” she says, crunching on whatever it is that she’s eating.

“I promise to not talk to anyone at the airport or give out any of my information. Besides, I’m staying at the Bellagio.” I walk to my closet and open it. Living in New York was a dream come true, but affording the rent is damn near impossible. So here I am in my one-and-a-half-room apartment. My living room and kitchenette are one small, shared space. I do have a stove, though that rarely gets used.

My closet is barely the size of a bathroom on a plane, which doesn’t help since I shop almost every day. In my defense, I have no choice. It’s my job. I’m a reporter for the lifestyle section for the New York Journal.

Even though my brother is very wealthy, I want to do this on my own.

“Lex, what if they follow you? Did you tell your brother?”

“Nope, and I’m not going to. Sterling has his own life to worry about. Besides, he warned me about Francesco. I was too lovestruck to see him for the douche that he was.”

Francesco was my newly appointed ex-boyfriend. I should have known something was up when he would be out of touch for long periods of time. Imagine my surprise when my phone rang with a call from him only for it to be his wife.

“He had a wife, Mel, a legit wife,” I tell her while I pack my sexiest lingerie. Actually all my lingerie is sexy. There is just something about wearing lace and silk that makes a girl feel powerful, confident, sexy. “What if they have kids?” I throw more things into the luggage.

“You didn’t know. It’s not like you went looking for a married man,” Melanie reassures me, and I know I didn’t.

I kept running into him at Starbucks in the morning. We just started talking one day and then exchanged numbers. He was a stock broker on Wall Street. He used to blame the market on why he could never stay out late.

I shake my head at my stupidity. The signs were all there, but I was just so into him that I didn’t see them.

“Which is why I’m going to Vegas. I’m going to go and have a great time. Maybe I’ll meet a guy. Who knows? It’s Vegas.” I zip up my bag. “You know what they say—what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. So maybe something will happen, or maybe it won’t. Either way, I’m going.”

“Except STDs, Lex. Those bitches follow you home from Vegas, so be careful,” Melanie warns, and I’m sure she’s sitting there nodding her head while saying it.

“I’m not going to catch an STD. I’m bringing condoms. I’m not that stupid,” I tell her. “Okay, I have to go and order my Uber or I’ll miss my flight.”

“All right, but promise you’ll text me when you get there, and then again when you get into your room. Is your Find My Phone app on?”

“Yes, Mom.” I laugh at her. “I’ll text you t
he minute I land.”

“Fly safe,” she says, then I hear beeps, letting me know she hung up.

I open the Uber app and place my order. I look down at my feet. “Shit, I forgot my shoes,” I yell, running back to my closet door. My shoe rack is the whole door, front and back. It’s also on the bathroom door as well. I grab a couple pairs—okay, seven pairs—and throw them into the bag I just zipped up.

I’m lacing up my black Chucks just as the Uber driver calls to tell me he’s here. I grab my black jacket as I walk out the door, dragging my luggage behind me.

I’m still dressed in black, skin-tight jeans and a white tight tank top. Silver necklaces hang from my neck. By the time I make it downstairs, the ever-present honking of vehicles that is the soundtrack of New York City makes me smile. I wave at the little red Toyota, letting him know I’m here. I throw my luggage into the car first before I follow it in. “Sorry,” I say, pulling the door shut as he bolts into traffic.

I take out my phone to send a quick text to Sterling.

  See you next week.

He texts me back right away, never making me wait long.

Dinner at our place. Be safe. Let me know if you need anything.

I respond back with a smiley face. I open Facebook next and mindlessly start to scroll my newsfeed. When I get bored with that, I switch over to Instagram. Taking a picture of the Empire State Building, I put a caption on it with “My heart is in New York, but my body is on the way to Vegas!” As soon as I post it, I put my phone away. Taking in the traffic around us, I sit back and think about what I’m going to do in Vegas by myself.

We make it to LaGuardia in record time, especially considering it’s almost rush hour. I pull my bag along with me while I wait to check in, and by the time I check my bag, I have my boarding pass all ready. First class. At least I’m going in style.

I check when boarding will start and walk right into the hard wall of a male chest, dropping my purse on the floor and spilling its contents in the process. “I’m so, so sorry,” I say as I quickly grab my things before they can roll away. I look up at the man I just collided with. I blink in stunned silence as I take in the first man to break my heart. Bradley fucking Fitch.

“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Little Lexi,” he says in that damn British accent I’ve never been able to forget.

  Chapter Two

  Bradley

“What do you mean you’re bailing on me?” I yell into the phone. “What happened to bros before hoes, you wanker?” I slam my bag closed.

“She threw a paddy, and I can’t leave her now. She’ll go off her trolley,” my mate Marco says.

“This whole week was your idea!” I remind him, looking around for my shoes. “Let’s go to Vegas, mate. A week on the piss and on the pull in the sun will do us some good.’ Those were your words,” I tell him, grasping the bridge of my nose between my thumb and forefinger, knowing a migraine is coming.

“That was before Leticia,” he whispers. “I think she’s the one.”

“The one?” I question him. “The one for what? Anal?”

“No. Well, yes, she does that, but she’s the one for me,” he says, still whispering. “I’m so sorry, mate.” He hangs up quickly.

I throw my phone on my bed. “Bloody hell! What to do now?” I say to my empty walls.

I’ve been in New York for about three months now. When my company decided to finally open an office here, I was the first one to sign up. I had nothing holding me back. My parents had long since passed away, leaving me with a trust fund and a royal bloodline.

They quickly ushered me off to London when I was five for the best schooling their money could buy. I saw them on holidays and for a month during the summer. Hell, I was closer to my best friend, Sterling, than I was to any cousins I had.

I look around my bedroom, the huge king-sized bed taking up most of the space. “Fuck it.” I zip up my bag. I call downstairs so my driver knows to be ready for me and head to the elevator.

“Good evening, sir,” Brett, my driver, says, taking my bag from me. “Are you ready to go?” He places the bag in the trunk while I settle into the back of the black town car.

I wait for him to get in before I answer. “It looks like I’ll be the lone wolf this week, Brett. I’m on my way to Vegas for a week by myself.” I check my phone for any emails I might have missed.

“Well, at least there won’t be any witnesses then, sir,” Brett says with a chuckle from the front. He must be closing in on seventy but to him, it keeps him young.

“You know what they say, ‘what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.’” I agree as I send Sterling a text.

You owe me a beer or two.

  He answers almost immediately.

Last I checked, you lost the bet. Drinks next week?

I’m going out of town, but I’ll touch base when I get back. Say hello to the wife.

I finish texting Sterling and then send Marco a few nasty messages. I close my eyes and rest my head. A week in Vegas. Jesus. What the hell am I going to do?

I don’t even notice that the car has stopped before my door is opened.

“Sir,” Brett says, holding my bag for me.

I grab it while I shake his hand with the other.

“Make wise choices.” He smirks at me.

“Don’t worry, mate. I’ll make all the wrong ones. See you next week.”

I walk into the terminal, and after a thorough groping from the overzealous TSA agent who was probably at least twenty years older than me, I head straight to the first-class lounge. On the way there, I’m suddenly rocked back by a mass of blond hair and soft curves. I reach out to grab her before she falls down. Her purse crashes to the floor, spilling its contents, and she scrambles away from me to gather her things.

“I’m so, so sorry!” she says from the floor while gathering her belongings.

I have yet to see her face, but that voice…I know that voice. Then she looks up at me, and my heart skips a beat as my eyes connect with her surprised, sky-blue ones.

“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Little Lexi,” I say to her as I try to keep the breathlessness out of my voice.

“Holy shit! Bradley? What are you doing here?” She gets to her feet and moves in to give me a hug. Her arms wrap around me as her cheek rests against my chest, her head tucked under my chin. My arms snake around her, one hand landing in the middle of her back and the other coming to rest at the small of her back.

“What am I doing here? What are you doing here? Besides running over unsuspecting travelers,” I say as I look down at her. Tiny freckles dot her nose, only visible if you’re really close to her. I’ve always loved those tiny freckles.

“Hey now, maybe it was you who ran into me.” She laughs a little as she pushes my shoulder gently. She curls her hair behind her ear on one side. “I’m on my way to Vegas,” she says with a shrug of her shoulders.

“Bugger off. I’m on my way to Vegas, too. Are you with anyone?” I ask, looking around for her friends.

“Nope. All by my lonesome.” She smirks.

My eyebrow rises in question. “What do you mean, all by your lonesome? You’re meeting your friends there?”

She laughs, throwing her head back, showing her lean long white neck. “Nope. I was supposed to go with my boyfriend. Well, my ex now, so here I am, going solo. How about you? Where’s the flavor of the month?” she asks, scanning around me.

“It was supposed to be a boys’ trip, but the boy got a girl and now”—I smile at her—“it’s just a boy trip.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, boarding will now begin for Virgin Airlines eight-nine-six to Las Vegas at gate number seventy-nine.” The voice over the speaker booms around us.

“I have to go,” she says, coming back to give me another hug, and the scent of coconut fills my nose. “That’s my flight.” She turns to walk away, and I’m momentarily gobsmacked by the sight before me.

I get my arse in gear to catch up to her. “It seems
that not only are we heading to the same place, but we’re also on the same flight, Little Lexi.” But as I call her by that familiar childhood nickname, I’m not able to stop my eyes from wandering to her perfect arse. I tear my eyes away and chant a reminder to myself. My best friend’s little sister. My best friend’s little sister.

She turns around and walks backward while I catch up to her.

“I used to call you Madly Bradley, did you know that?”

She smirks and gives me a little shake of her head as her hair swishes against her shoulders with the movement. Her hands move to her back pockets, pushing her breasts out. My eyes go right to the perfect globes, encased in that tight top. They’re round and high, and I would put it all on black that she is a C cup, which is the exact right fit for my hand. Trust me, I know.

“What seat are you in?” she asks.

“The one right next to you,” I tell her, not even knowing, but one thing I do know is that there’s no way I’m not sitting next to her.

She continues laughing as she turns around, arms swinging at her sides, hips swaying, as she continues toward the gate.

I drag my hand down my face and groan inwardly, while my cock twitches. I start chanting in my mind again—my best friend’s little sister, my best friend’s little sister—and I’m not sure if the reminder is for me or my poor cock.

We walk up to the gate agent, and she smiles as she hands over her boarding pass. I smile at the woman scanning our boarding passes.

“So, what seat do you have?” I ask her.

“I think she said 3D. What about you?” she asks with her big blue eyes aimed at me.

“It’s 4F. Maybe I can switch with someone or you can switch,” I tell her, just assuming that she is onboard with this plan.

“Aww, did you want more time with me, Bradley?” She laughs while she hooks her arm into mine. “See? I’m not bratty Little Lexi anymore,” she says with a snicker.
