And later, when they walked back to the house to check on Zack, Chance knew beyond all doubt that he’d found his place, his purpose in life. His new family was top priority. That was the commitment he made when he gave his heart to Alexa.
“Pinch me,” Chance murmured after he’d kissed Alexa good-night at her bedroom door. “I wanna make sure this ain’t no dream. Can I really be this happy?”
Giggling, Alexa grabbed the lapel of his shirt and towed him into her room. “I’ve got more tantalizing things in mind besides pinching you. And don’t think I’m going to let you out of my sight until you sign Zack’s marriage license, either. Just try walking away from me. I’ll have you roped, thrown and tied in a pigging string faster than you can blink.”
“I’m hog-tied for life?” he asked.
“Absolutely.”
“No time off to practice bad behavior?”
“Definitely not.”
“Promise?”
Alexa drew him to her bed, drew him deeper into her heart. “You got it, cowboy, now come here and kiss me.”
Chance chuckled as they rolled playfully across the patchwork quilt. “Pardon me, ma’am, but I already—”
When Alexa slid her leg between his thighs and glided her body seductively against his, Chance forgot what he planned to say. He decided, right then, that he didn’t really need all that much sleep to see him through the first of his two upcoming weddings. He could survive quite nicely, thank you very much, just floating around on their personal cloud in paradise.
