“My name is Skata. But that’s not important. I need to show you something,” she said.

I rolled my eyes. “Show me what?”

“Look, I used to be cool with Pat. Long story short, I know more about you than you think,” she said, pulling her blue hair out of her face with her long nails.

  “Tell me something good.”

“Look, I’m all for family, but I’m also down for what’s right.”

  “And what’s right?” I asked.

“What’s right is me coming to you as a woman. What’s wrong is the little girl that my brother-in-law has in his basement.”

  Chapter Fifty-Six

  Yazz

“Do you know where they at?” I asked Emo as I paced back and forth.

“Probably at they uncle’s crib. That’s where they do all the dirty work.”

  “You sure?” I asked.

  “I’m extra sure, B.”

“Give us the address,” I said as I checked to make sure I had my gun on me. Gee did the same. Emo put the address into my phone.

“Oh my God, y’all. Please don’t get in no trouble,” Emo’s mom said as she began to shiver and shake.

  “You ready?” Gee asked me.

“Ain’t I always?” I asked as we exited the room.

“I knew something was off about that punk,” Gee snarled as we got onto the elevator.

“I just didn’t expect him to be the one who did it. That moron was coming around us and everything. Smiling in our faces. That’s how the enemy knew so much because he was the fucking enemy.”

  “Punk ass.”

“Follow me in my car,” I said.

“Why you just can’t come in my car?” he asked.

“I have the big boy guns in my trunk,” I said.

“Good idea. Here I come.” He hopped in his whip and followed me.

“I can’t believe this shit,” I said to myself as I tried to drive as normal as possible. For one, Gee was following me. Two, I didn’t need to attract any police while in route to body this punk bitch.

Finally, we pulled up at the house. The fucked up part was the house was pretty nice. It didn’t look broke down like I was expecting it to. I pulled a few houses down, got out and waited for Gee.

“Which house is it?” he asked.

“That one,” I pointed two houses down. “But we need to go straight to the basement. That’s where the nigga will be.”

“Let’s go.” He led the way. When we got to the door, it was already cracked open so I pushed it and pointed my weapon.

“Come on,” I whispered when I saw the door for the basement.

“Watch your step,” Gee whispered as I looked down at all the dents in the floor.

“Nooooo!” I heard someone yell. Sounded like a woman.

“Bitch, suck this dick. And if you bite it, I’ma kill your mothafucking ass!” I heard someone yell.

“Hold up,” I said as I checked all of the rooms before we went to the basement and became sitting ducks.

  “Clear?” Gee asked.

  “Clear,” I responded.

We opened the basement door. Neek and Bizz saw us the minute we stepped in and started shooting at us up the stairs.

  Chapter Fifty-Seven

  Red

“How did you know where I was?” I asked Skata as she drove us to this random place.

I didn’t trust her or her words, but it didn’t matter. I couldn’t risk not saving Rena.

On top of all the hell, no one was answering the phone for me.

“Girl, you need to start watching your surroundings. Y’all been followed for months now,” she said as we cruised the streets in her busted down station wagon.

“So, why is Rena in the basement?” I asked.

“My brother-in-law is wrapped up in all kinds of shit. But when I saw that little girl, I couldn’t let that ride. Feel me?”

“So how do you know who I am?”

“My girl Pat used to fuck with Davinchi. Before she was killed, she had me with her following you two. That’s how I knew the little girl belonged to Diamond.

“That’s where I know you from. I met you in Starbucks that day.”

  “Right.”

“Damn,” is all I could say as we drove along the road. Shit was crazy, and I was starting to feel nervous.

Finally, we pulled up to a busted down wooden house that looked like it was in the middle of a small village.

  “Come on,” she said.

I grabbed Lily’s hand and ran behind her.

  “Are they here?” I asked.

“No, that’s why we need to hurry.”

“My mommy used to bring me here,” Lily said.

“If your mother used to come here, she was probably a crack head,” Skata said. I looked at her like she was crazy. “What? It’s the truth.”

She led us to the basement and I saw that she wasn’t lying. Junkies were everywhere basing up. Then my eyes caught Rena sitting in a cage like a fucking animal.

“So nan one of you mothafuckas thought to free this little girl from a cage?” I asked as I stepped all over junkies, kicking them in the chin and shit.

“They junkies. All they give a fuck about is getting high. Here,” she said, handing me a hammer to bust the chains off Rena’s cage. The way I jerked it must have woken her up. When she saw me, she started smiling and grabbing the cage.

“I know, I’m impatient too,” I said as I hit the chain over a hundred times before it finally gave in and collapsed.

“Come on. We have to go,” Skata said as she rushed back up the stairs.

I had so many questions, but for now I was happy that I followed my instincts and came with Skata.

  Chapter Fifty-Eight

  Diamond

“No! I’m not about to suck his dick, Neek! You are fucking sick and he look sick!” I yelled as Bizz steadily dangled his dick on my lips but I turned my head.

“I thought you said you fucked this hoe and she a freak?” Bizz asked Neek.

“He never fucked me!” I yelled as I frowned. This nigga Neek was an all around lame ass nigga.

“Yes I did, bitch. Quit lying,” Neek said as he laughed. He lied so well, even I started to believe him.

“Well suck my dick then,” Neek said, pulling his dick out. “Suck it like you did the other night.”

“But I never sucked your dick, Neek!”

He slapped the fuck out of me. “Shut up, hoe. I should have listened to Davinchi and just fucked you and dipped.”

“Whoa!” Bizz yelled as he looked behind him. I couldn’t see because they had me tied up on the floor and facing the other way.

“Kill them niggas!” I heard Gee’s voice roar before gunshots started to ring out.

I don’t know who was shot, but it suddenly got quiet. No one was talking or moving. I finally fought my way around to see what I never wanted to see. What I wished I could’ve unseen. It was a bloody mess, but Gee came over to my aide.

“Are you okay?” Gee asked as he untied me and kissed me.

“Yes, but you’re shot,” I said as I turned to see Yazz wiping his gun off.

“Ehh, it’s just my arm. I’ll be okay. Let’s get you out of here,” he said as he helped me up the stairs.

“You good?” Yazz asked as he stood by the basement door. He wasn’t shot and that made me feel a little better.

I looked down into the basement and shook my head. “I’m okay,” I said.

Gee shut the door to the basement and guided me to the car.

As I was climbing into the car, my phone rang. It was Red telling me that my sister was found.

As we drove off, a regular car pulled up to the house. Then two men in police uniform got out. The only reason this bothered me was because I never called them and I know for damn sure that Gee and Yazz didn’t.

  “Park,” I said to Gee.

“What? Why? We need to get out of here,” he said.

  “Trust me. Just turn aroun
d and pull up just a little bit.”

He sighed. “Diamond… never mind. Okay.” He did as he was told and turned the car around.

“You gotta be fucking kidding me,” Yazz said from the back seat.

“I thought you killed him?” Gee asked, turning to face Yazz.

“I did. I shot him until my clip emptied,” Yazz said. After he said that, we watched Bizz take off a bulletproof vest and hop into the car with the police.

But what fucked my head up is when Bizz pulled off with the police, no other police came.

“What just happened?” I asked in total confusion.

Gee shook his head. “What just happened is Bizz working with dirty cops,” he said as we drove off.

  “So, what now?”

“I got it. Don’t worry about a thing,” he assured me as he picked up his phone.

  “Who you calling?” I asked.

“Eric, we need to have a sit down.”
