I saunter naked across the room and walk out onto the deck, dipping a foot in the warm water. I climb in, letting the water envelop me and wait for him to react. A few seconds later, he’s splashing water as he lowers himself into the hot tub and pulls me onto his lap.
I laugh as he settles in and the water flows over the edge onto the floor. “Excited?” I tease him.
“You can’t walk in front of me the way you just did and not expect me to jump at you.” I kiss him softly, but my intended peck turns into a heated make-out session. Passion sparks between us and the warmth of the water adds to the heat traveling through me. I moan into Cash’s mouth at the feel of his possessiveness. His fingers tug my hair loose from its tie, and he pulls with the perfect amount of pressure that shoots straight through me with desire.
Cash bites my lower lip and reluctantly loosens his hold on me. “I love the way you taste . . . everywhere.” I shiver involuntarily at his words. I shift so I can fully face him and hold his jaw with both of my hands. Like this, we are closer in height, and I stare into his eyes.
Silence settles between us as I hold him. My lips touch his lovingly, and I smile. I want a moment to take this all in. I want to show him how much I love him, without desperate passion directing my movements. I grab his hand from my waist and place it on my chest so he can feel the beating of my heart. “This is yours.”
Cash’s gaze is expressive. It is silently communicating. He continues to stare, feeling my heart until I kiss him fervently. His hardness is pressing into me, and I can no longer control what my body wants. My tongue sweeps against his. I move my hands to his hair, tugging it with purpose. The scruff on his face scratches mine as I continue to explore his mouth.
Cash lifts me slightly, and I position myself over him. I love the feel of him filling me as we bond intimately, the way true lovers do. I move over him, pouring all my love into this moment. Water ripples around us, but the only thing we care about in this moment is us.
“I fucking love you,” Cash says with a strained voice. He links his arms under mine and holds my shoulders, drilling into me fast, taking control. The ripples turn to waves, creating a whirlwind of passion around us and spilling over the edge with as much purpose as our lovemaking.
My body shivers, that indescribable sensation running through me with no real route. It is chaotic and delicious as he hits my nerves and I fall apart above him, head thrown back, lips calling his name. It is almost too much to take. Cash follows, releasing himself into me and allowing the tension to leave his body. His lips touch mine, and I swipe my tongue against the tip of his before pulling away.
As our breathing calms, I carefully remove myself from Cash. He pulls my legs over his lap and smiles, massaging my calves. “You’re amazing,” he says.
“You say that because you just had the ride of your life.” He laughs and shakes his head.
“You’re amazing, no matter what. But it helps that you clench my dick with vice grip.”
“You’re gross.” I shove his shoulder.
“I’m kidding,” he laughs. “Although, I’m not lying.” He winks.
I sigh as he continues to massage my legs and run my hands through his hair. It is dark out, but the glow of the moon shines just enough for us to see the silhouette of the mountains.
“It’s gorgeous here.” I lean the side of my body against the back of the hot tub, relaxing.
“It really is.” His voice is husky. I look over at him and he is staring straight at me, his hands massaging higher and higher on my legs until a finger swipes my pussy. I twitch and a smile covers his face.
“Bad boy.”
“You want bad?” He says as he thrusts a finger into my opening and I call out. He chuckles but doesn’t let up. Instead he increases his speed, adding pressure on my clit and hooking his finger to hit that perfect spot. I drop my head back as he continues to drive me wild.
“These are your floats. They attach here,” the man at The Hooch Tubing Co. tells us. He hands us a stick to use in case we get stuck on some rocks.
“Thank you,” Cash tells him and takes a float and the stick. I take my float and we drop our belongings in a small locker provided for us. Cash strips off his shirt, and I admire him for a second. He raises an eyebrow and laughs. I shrug and take off my shirt and shorts, standing in front of him in my bikini. It is my turn to raise a brow at him as he eyes me up and down. We keep our sandals on for safety.
The ride down the Chattahoochee is exactly what I was expecting—relaxing, beautiful, and peaceful. The sun peeks from between the trees and warms us just enough to combat the cold water.
An hour and a half later, we arrive at the main post and get out of the river. We return the floats and the stick and get our belongings. My clothes cling to my wet bathing suit as we walk out and stroll through Main Street.
When I check my phone, I see a notification.
Bri: Hey, how’s the trip going?
I smile and reply quickly.
Olivia: This place is gorgeous . . . just finished tubing down the Chattahoochee.
Bri: Awesome . . . how are things with the Nathan situation?
Olivia: I’m trying not to think about it, but seems like Vivian is keeping an eye out
Bri: Keep me posted and know I’m here for you
Olivia: Thanks
Even though I’m miles way from Nashville, Nathan’s antics follow me. Thankfully, all the images and video were deleted.
“Isn’t that the place Bill and Maggie were telling us about?” I ask. One of the couples we met while tubing mentioned a tavern with a variety of German beer that they loved.
“Yeah, it is. Let’s grab a beer.” We walk in to find a quaint tavern with wooden interior. Photographs of Germany adorn the walls and a flag hangs as a backdrop for the bar. Cash and I grab two stools at the bar and look through the menu. I’m not familiar with these beers, so I order a lighter brew and Cash orders a darker beer.
“Cheers.” Cash tips his glass to mine.
“Cheers,” I repeat and smile widely.
Being with Cash is easy because I feel free to express myself. I don’t keep things to myself to avoid a confrontation. We simply mesh. I have fun with him. I laugh when I’m around him. And we love hard. A relationship is not just about the intimacy. It is about the friendship also. Nathan and I were never friends; he believed couples weren’t friends, but simply partners. And now he’s being a dick.
“You good?” He looks over at me.
“Very good.” He squeezes my knee with his free hand and eyes me over the top of his glass. “I was just thinking.”
“Huh . . . I’m not sure if I should be worried about that.”
“Nope.” I drink my beer. I won’t be that girl and say that I never loved my other partner because I have someone new, but what Cash and I have is a different kind of love. It is deeper. And right now, I just flat out want to kill Nathan.
I look up at Cash when I feel him squeeze my thigh again. I can’t help but laugh when he looks at me with furrowed eyebrows.
“Sorry. I was just thinking about you, us.” I reach for his hand on my leg. “How good we are together.” I smile.
“We are.” I taste the bitterness of his beer when he kisses me. “Another round?”
“Yes.” We grab two more beers and head out to the patio when the bartender tells us live music is about to begin.
It’s such a beautiful day. We find an empty table under the pergola and listen to the music. We hang out, song after song, drinking beer and eating lunch. What was supposed to be an hour has turned into all afternoon.
“Do you think things with Nathan will get out of control?” I finally ask the inevitable.
“No. Vivian is great at stuff like this, and people will know he’s just a jealous ex. They already know who you are and they’ve been watching. The public knows what’s real and what isn’t.”
Cash runs his fingers along the hem of my shorts causing goosebumps. “I like thes
e.” He leans in and I feel his breath on my neck, clearly distracting me.
“I’ve worn them before.”
“I know, but you’re wearing a bikini underneath, and it’s tempting me.” I laugh as he continues to whisper into my ear. He nips my ear lobe quickly. “Thankfully the water was cold enough to keep me in check. If not I would have had a tent in my bathing suit for all of Helen to see.” I snort and cover my face. Cash’s laugh is loud and the people next to us stare our way. We apologize, and I drink my beer to hold in my giggles.
“They’re good.” I nod towards the band.
“Yeah.”
The waiter comes up to us and whispers something into Cash’s ear. I see Cash nod and stand up. I raise my eyebrows, but he just tells me he will be right back. The waiter says he will bring me a new beer, before walking away.
I check my phone quickly and find a few more comments from Nathan, but I then notice responses to his comments from fans. They are all defending me. I say a quick thanks to the heavens before the tension can settle.
“Good afternoon.” I look up when I hear his voice. You have got to be kidding me. He smiles proudly at me. “The guys here invited me up to sing a song. They have a great sound, and I’m honored to join them for a few minutes.” People start whispering, and others take pictures with their phones. “I’m Cash, and I’m on vacation with my lady.” He points at me, and heat spreads through my cheeks. I’m grateful for the fresh beer that was brought seconds before.
The familiar beat rings around us and I shake my head.
“This one’s for you.” He winks at me and begins singing my song. Realization dawns on some people as they hear the song and they start cheering. I keep my eyes on Cash, his cut-off sleeves showing off his arms and his flat bill shading his face. Typical Cash fashion.
I smile as the words flow off his lips and his voice captivates me. He finishes the song with a new line that I am sure he just made up right now.
“Hey, girl, thank you for giving me your heart.”
The girls in the crowd sigh audibly, and everyone breaks into a cheer when they finish. They begin to chant for a second song, but Cash politely thanks them and jokes that I will leave him if he sings more. He walks towards me, smiling mischievously, and kisses me hard on the lips. Everyone cheers again, and I murmur against his lips, “Kill you.” He laughs and takes a seat.
“Always my muse,” he whispers into my ear.
“Hmmm . . . So you say,” I tease. He grabs my chin with his hand and turns me to him.
“Always.” He kisses me passionately. “Now, how about we use that hot tub again, before we leave tomorrow.”
“Check!” I call out and he laughs. I wink and angle my chair so my legs are between his. “I have plans for you tonight,” I promise, and his eyes darken with desire.
That fucker continues to spew lies about Olivia, disrespecting her behind a computer screen. Pussy. Vivian says there’s not much that can be done, besides delete the comments as they come, and I’m glad the fans have been bashing him but it’s not enough to quiet him. Olivia has been more stressed since a few gossip sites have brought it up. When fans drew attention to it, people started questioning who Nathan was. Immediately, they tied him to the same guy I lost it with at a bar.
A real trigger for Cash Knight, they wrote when questioning Nathan’s motives. My main focus is Olivia, and keeping Nathan away from her. After all he put her through and his threats, I don’t want her to be in any danger.
“Hey,” Ryder says as he arrives at the basketball court where I’m shooting some hoops.
“What’s up?”
“Chilling. Sorry I’m late, got a little busy with Jen.” He winks.
I shake my head and pass him the ball.
“Heard you met the in-laws.” Ryder chuckles.
“Yeah. A few days ago, when we got back from Georgia,” I tell him.
“How’d that go? Jen tells me her uncle is a serious guy,” Ryder says.
“Nah. He’s a good man. We hit it off when we started talking about the Vols. You might have some trouble there when you met Jen’s family. They’re die-hard Vols fans, so no room for Bama,” I tease.
“Parents love me.” He smiles innocently. There’s nothing innocent about Ryder, but I laugh it off and tell him about meeting Olivia’s parents.
After playing for a while, Ryder asks how the Nathan situation is going. The guys have all been in the loop, and I think any of them would like the opportunity to take Nathan down but I want that pleasure for myself.
“Let’s go grab some lunch and a beer to calm you down,” Ryder says, patting my shoulder.
I hold Olivia close to me as we dance to the beat the DJ is spinning. After the tension of talking to Ryder earlier today about Nathan, having my girl in my arms is exactly what I need. Ryder and Jen are somewhere around the bar, but I only care about Olivia and her body tempting me.
I pull her tighter into me, with my hand on her lower back and watch her chest rise quickly when her breath hitches. I smile mischievously and her fingers tangle in my hair. I groan at the slight tug.
“Are you seducing me?”
“Hell yeah. Do you know much I want to see you in nothing but those heels?” I respond.
“I think we can manage that later.” She cocks an eyebrow and licks her lips.
“Fuck,” I growl and crush my lips to hers.
“Babe . . .” her voice trails off as her pupils dilate. “Take it slow,” she whispers.
Before I can respond, I feel her tense. “What’s wrong?” I follow her gaze and clench my fists.
The bastard dares to smile at us and my nostrils flare. One hit—that’s all I’ll need to knock him down.
“What are you doing here, Nathan?” Olivia asks above the music. She squeezes my hand tightly.
“Getting attention by grinding on him?” He smirks at Olivia and it takes everything in me not to lose my shit.
“Fuck off.” I interrupt him. “Everyone knows you’re a jealous ass trying to bring Olivia down. Pathetic really.” I tuck Olivia behind me. “First time I saw you, I knew I didn’t like you. I’m a nice guy, until you mess with what’s mine.” I grab him by the collar of his shirt and pull him close, the crowd around us stopping to see what is going on.
“You’re a real dick for disrespecting a woman that way. It’s no wonder she left your ass. I don’t care if you try to make me look like a fool, but you won’t ruin her.” My words are low but harsh. I notice people taking pictures and I smile. “Take your pictures, ladies. This guy right here is a disgrace to men. He can’t stand being rejected by an old girlfriend so he threatened her, to keep her from happiness.” I make sure people get a good view of him.
“You’re the guy that wrote that nasty comment on Facebook!” one girl exclaims. “What an asshat.” She snaps a picture. “I’m going to make sure everyone knows who you are and shares your picture. Let Cash and Olivia be happy.” She types furiously on her phone and I smile. Thank goodness for loyal fans.
“I’m done with your games. Olivia is done with you. She was done way before I entered her life. Accept it, or I’ll gladly make sure you can’t walk for a long time.”
I notice how Nathan shrinks with each word I speak, looking around at the crowd that is shouting how pathetic he is. I give zero fucks about what will pop up tomorrow in the gossip magazines. The fans here are on Olivia’s side.
I look at Nathan straight in the eyes and smirk. “This is for the pain you caused my girl.” I punch him in the jaw and watch him stumble backwards. “If you were a real man, you’d respect women.”
I turn and walk away, holding Olivia’s hand, knowing by the look in his eyes that this will be the last time we hear from him. There is nothing he will hate more than having his true intentions spread all over the Internet.
“What the hell just happened?” Jen asks.
“Nathan showed up,” Olivia answers her.
“Where the fuck is he?”
&
nbsp; “Cash took care of it.” Olivia stares up at me with grateful eyes.
I wish I could have done more than punch him, but sometimes words are more of a punishment than physical pain. Nathan is the type of guy who likes control, and by being unmasked he lost that control. He lost the power to bring Olivia or me down when the fans took sides, and no one believed his stories. Instead, he looked like the crazy, jealous ex-boyfriend going for his fifteen minutes of fame.
“Thank you,” Olivia finally says when we get back to my place.
“I told you, we face every obstacle together. I do hope everyone shares his picture.” I chuckle. “Thank goodness for millennials and their modern solutions.”
“I know.” She laughs lightly. “I guess there is nothing worst than public humiliation via social media. I hope she typed it all caps, what an asshole he is. It is sad to see him turn out this way.”
I reach for her hand and squeeze it gently. “I’m sorry you had to go through that. I am glad I was there with you, this time. He seems harmless now, but had he confronted you alone he may not have been so easily scared off.”
“Let’s hope this is the last we hear from him. I think having the public know his actions were all based on jealousy and not truths would take away the reason. You can’t create a following if people know you’re full of shit.”
“Yes.” I hug her to me. I’m so glad this is over. Now we can move forward, without him glooming over us.
I am so grateful that everything with Nathan is over. It has been two months, and he has been radio silent. As promised, that fan did share his picture. They have even made memes with his face. The gossip sites took our side as well, marking Nathan as the villain.
Cash and I have spent our days working and being with each other. Rebel Desire finished recording their second album, their first official one with the label, a couple of weeks ago. He finally shared the title with me. I cried. To many, the title will symbolize their youth, but to me, it symbolizes us. I know those songs are about us and our journey, and the fact that he named it after me was a huge surprise.
