EPILOGUE
Tor left his wife sleeping. He knew if he didn’t hurry, she’d wake and take care of baby Noah. Who would’ve thought there would be an actual argument over who would change a diaper in the castle. He usually lost to her or Ker, but tonight he’d been waiting for her to fall asleep so he could sit with his son for a while.
He entered the connecting room they’d turned into a baby suite. Little Noah was already gurgling and waving his tiny fisted hands madly in the air. He wasn’t in need of a change, but Tor would have felt bad waking his son otherwise. Now, he could hold him without worrying about waking him.
He picked up Noah and lifted him into his arms. Then he sat in the rocker Morgan had insisted was needed. He was glad he’d given into every desire for the baby suite because he loved the rocker. It was his favorite spot to sit with Noah and look out the window.
“How are you, son?”
Noah gazed at him with his big golden eyes. A chubby toothless smile on his lips. The baby coo’d and aah’d.
Noah looked exactly like Tor. He smiled and Noah smiled as well. There was a deep bond between them, something he’d never felt before and wouldn’t have known how amazing it was until after he had his son. For so long, he denied himself the hope that one day he would have a mate and children, but now he realized why he’d done that.
One can’t miss what one never had. Except now that he had both, he’d never in his life deny how special they were to him. Morgan brought him into the world of the living. He’d been existing before. Now, now he was alive. And no way was he missing a second of it.
The door creaked open. He glanced up and met Morgan’s gaze.
“Hey, sexy,” she whispered. “I see you finally got ahead of me.”
He chuckled and crooked a finger to call her to him. “Get over here. You are tough to beat. I don’t know how you always know when he’s going to be awake.”
“Instinct.” She sighed and took the baby from his arms then settled on his lap.
“You’re one of the most loving and forgiving women I’ve ever met.”
She groaned and wrinkled her nose. “What did you do? Why are you saying that?”
“I was just thinking about your mother and how much you let go in order to rebuild your relationship with her.”
She shrugged. “What’s the point of holding on to all that pain? Besides, I know she loves me and I want Noah to get as much love as possible from all family members.”
He nodded. “See. You’re beautiful. Inside and out. And you have some kind of power that you know when our baby needs something.”
“I never realized what other mom’s meant when they said instinct from the beginning, but our baby calls to me when he needs something.”
Tor brushed a finger over Noah’s chubby cheek. “Well, he better start calling on me, too. I’m his father.”
She laughed and kissed his head. “This just means we’ll need to have another so you can help out more.”
His heart filled with love for his wife and child. He was the first of his family since arriving on earth to keep his mate alive long enough to have offspring and give it life. Now his brothers needed to do the same. It was only a matter of time. Soon, they’d all have families. He knew it deep in his heart.
“Let’s go, mister sexy dragon,” she whispered. “Noah’s asleep.”
“Good. Let’s make him a sister.”
Tor watched her put the baby down and picked her up in his arms, carrying her to their room.
“Have I told you how much I love this Neanderthal side of you?” she asked.
“Every time I pick you up.”
