Chapter 1
Neo
The laughter still rings in my ears long after I’ve left the party. Blade came by to visit and show off his kids. It’s not that I’m not happy for him, I am, but it all makes me wonder what I’m missing out on. The guys are all finding the love that they deserve but I don’t know that that’s out there for me. Aside from my mother, I don’t have any family apart from the guys here. This club is all I’ve ever really wanted anyway. I suppose some people are destined to be alone.
“Where are you going so early?” Trin asks, walking up next to me. I smirk over at her and shake my head knowing that she is far from the club whore everyone has her pegged for.
“Just tired. What are you doin’?”
“Same. Rebel is playing strip pool with some of the other guys. Needless to say, I didn’t want to see him lose,” she giggles. I chuckle along with her.
“That ain’t a sight I’d wanna see either, but sadly, I’ve seen more of their dicks than their momma’s have.” Trin laughs as she wraps her arm around my waist and I toss mine over her shoulder as we walk down the hallway.
“You ever get tired of the same things over and over?” She asks, looking up at me as if she could read my mind.
“Yeah, but I don’t know how to change that.”
“Me either. Maybe one day, right?” She nods her head and untangles from me, walking into her room. I keep going out the last door. I step out into the humid night air, taking in a lungful when I hear a girl’s voice.
“You fucking piece of trash!” She sounds frustrated and it makes me chuckle a little. I pull my cigarette out and light one up as I head in that direction. The clubs are all closing down for the night, so I assume she works at the one next to us. “Eww! Don’t fucking touch me!”
I round the corner into the alley and see the girl in question wrestling a garbage bag that’s bigger than she is. I can’t help but laugh. The sound must catch her by surprise because her and that trash bag both fall to the ground. I laugh harder when all I see are her feet sticking out from under the black monstrosity. Strolling over with my cigarette between my lips, I grab the bag and toss it into the dumpster before looking down at her. She looks up at me with narrowed eyes and little pieces of trash sticking to her skin. I hold my hand out and offer her help when she moves on her own. Shoving off the ground, she stands and glares up at me.
“You were just going to stand there and laugh, huh?” She demands crossing her arms over her chest. I retract my hand and pull the cigarette from between my lips, blowing smoke into the air.
“Why are you out here fightin’ a bag that’s bigger than you are?”
“Um, it’s my job?”
“Then you got a shitty boss,” I tell her before turning and walking back out of the alley. I can hear her shoes slapping against the pavement as she follows behind me.
“You should tell him that!” She hollers from behind me. I glance over my shoulder back at her.
“Tell who what?”
“My boss that he sucks. You should tell him that. He needs to know,” she adds with a slight smirk on her face.
I turn to fully face her now wondering what the hell she’s trying to do. I cock my head to the side and study her face. She has the prettiest green eyes that I’ve ever seen and long brown hair. She’s small for being an adult, if she’s even one.
“And why would I do that? ‘Cause you were out here fightin’ a bag?” She shrugs her shoulder and I shake my head turning to walk away.
“Chicken shit,” she taunts as I walk. I huff out a breath and turn around moving toward her quickly. In seconds I’ve got my hand wrapped around her wrist, dragging her toward the door. She squeals as I pull her in the back door and down the hallway.
“That was a joke, you know!”
I ignore her and continue down the hallway when a man steps out of an office. He looks from me to the girl I’m currently holding onto and back.
“What the hell is this?”
“You her boss?” I ask.
“I think he’s one of those mental hospital escapees I saw on the news,” the girl chimes in as she tries to pull her arm free from my grasp. I almost laugh again.
“What did she do?”
“What the hell? I didn’t do shit, Scot!” She squeals in return.
“Shut up, Leesa. I wasn’t asking you. What did she do?”
“She didn’t do anything but carry around a bag of shit bigger than her,” I tell him, pulling the girl forward and shoving her into his arms. He grabs her and holds on, still confused.
“You stink.”
“Is this rag on Leesa day? The bag was at least two hundred pounds! It tore open and some dumped on me,” she huffs. She’s a mouthy little girl.
“So what the hell does that have to do with him?” he asks her pointing at me.
“He got the bag off me. To be honest, I could have suffocated under that bag of shit and that would have been a lawsuit. I could have owned this club,” she sneers at him but I can hear the humor in her tone. I shake my head and run my hand through my hair before turning to walk away. The man is cursing about something but the girl, Leesa, runs behind me.
“Hey! Wait a minute,” she calls out to me the closer she gets. I stop and turn to face her.
“What?”
“Thanks for helping me. That was really nice of you to come save me,” she says with a smile.
“Sav
e you from death by a garbage bag? Anytime.” Turning once more I head back outside and back toward the clubhouse. In all the years we’ve been here I’ve never had to save a girl from a garbage bag before. Shaking my head, I step back onto the lot when Ransom spots me.
“Where you been?”
“Savin’ random girls.” He chuckles.
“Typical knight in shinin’ armor, yeah?”
“Goddamn right. Just call me Prince fukin’ Charmin’.”
Chapter 2
Leesa
“Who was that?”
“Who was who?” I ask Maria as I wipe down the counter of the bar.
“That hot piece of carne?”
I belt out a laugh before looking over at her. “You’re referring to him as meat?”
“Hell yes I am. Did you look at him? I’d eat that up,” she adds as she continues to check the liquor bottles noting which need to be restocked.
“You say that about every man. Why is he different?” I tease her. She does though. She has a thing for any man who will look her way and let’s just say that Maria has a lot of men looking at her. She’s gorgeous, her skin tanned with long silky black hair. She’s also my best friend, which is why I have to say those nice things about her.
“Oh fuck off, Leesa. That man…. Oh girl, I’d ride him,” She declares as she continues to pretend to be riding a horse and I laugh harder.
“You can’t go pissing off the people next door, Leesa.” I turn when I hear Scot’s voice behind me. The rest of the club is silent due to it being three in the morning. When the rest of the world sleeps, we work.
“I didn’t piss him off. He came to help me,” I respond, rolling my eyes and getting back to work. I bag up another round of trash and head toward the back, ignoring Scot as I go. I make one stop to grab my purse on my way. I’m shocked when I step out the back door and find the guy still here. “Are you going to stalk me now? Because I know some karate.” He looks up, adjusting the ball cap that he now has on his head, a small smirk curling his lips.
“I’m not stalkin’ you. Thought you might wanna grab some breakfast.” I move to toss the bag in the dumpster when he moves too. Grabbing it out of my hand, he tosses it in and glances back at me. He’s pretty nice to look at as far as I’m concerned, but I don’t make it a habit of going out with men I don’t know.
“How Coyote Ugly of you,” I say mocking him. He narrows his brows as if he doesn’t understand. “Thank you for the offer but I don’t think so.”
I start down the alley toward the road but I can feel his presence behind me. I don’t know what he wants, but I sure as hell don’t want to find out. The closer to the road we get the more I prepare myself for the attack. It isn’t the first time some idiot has tried to attack me on my way out after work, which is why I took those self-defense classes to begin with. As soon as his hand touches my shoulder, I spin. My hands come up to his face, just like I learned. My thumbs dig into his eyes as he roars in pain. Bringing my knee up, I slam it into his nuts as hard as I can. The man growls but moves quicker than the instructor does. His hands land on my shoulders shoving me back against the building roughly. All the air is knocked from my lungs when I collide with the brick.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” He hisses between his clenched teeth as he gasps for air. I know that knee to the sack hurt.
“Why are you following me?” I question him in return. The man blinks a few times trying to get his eyes to focus before he lets go of me. Taking a step back, I watch him closely as his hand reaches for his cock. He runs his hand up and down, left and right before I laugh. “I didn’t break it,” I tell him. His dark eyes come to meet mine and I wince. His eyes are red as hell; I know that shit hurts too.
“I wasn’t followin’ you,” he says adjusting himself a little more.
“Yes, you were. You didn’t need to come this way but you did.”
“I wasn’t followin’ you!” He snaps a little louder this time.
“Yes, you we-”
“That’s my goddamn clubhouse!” He shouts, pointing to the place next door. The building sits close to ours but the whole back is closed off with gates to keep anyone out. I’ve always noticed all the bikes and men that filter in and out, but I never paid much attention since it wasn’t any of my concern. I look at the building and back to the man before I shrug casually.
“So what? That means you can follow me around just because you live over there?” Raising my eyebrow, I challenge his ass. I don’t know what he was thinking but he isn’t getting one past me.
“I have to walk back down this alley to get to the front, yeah?”
Fine. He has me there.
“Fine. Then you can go.” I gesture with my hand for him to go ahead of me.
After running his hand over his face once more, he starts walking. I don’t move until he’s far enough away that I can’t see him. Then I let out a breath and head down the rest of the alley. When I reach the road, I peer to my left then right but don’t see him. With a smirk, I walk out and head straight to my car. I check my backseat just like we were taught to make sure there isn’t an idiot hiding in the back before I get in. As soon as I’m in and the car is started my cell phone rings. I jolt slightly and grab it off the seat.
“Hello?”
“Don’t act like you don’t know who this is.”
“I know who it is. You’re like clockwork.”
“Then you know what day it is,” he says into the line.
“Yeah, I know what day it is. The money is in the same place as always.” The chuckle comes through the line before going dead. I sigh and rest my head on the steering wheel before blowing out a breath. That bastard is going to get what he has coming to him one of these days.
Chapter 3
Neo
I add a little more Jack than usual to my coffee this morning as I rub at my eyes. That little shit did a number on me last night. I wasn’t ready for that type of reaction. I’ve had girls fight me before, sure, but to go straight for my eyes and kick me in the nuts? That was new and unwelcome, might I add.
“You’re lookin’ a little rough,” Triton says, stalking toward me. He drops into the chair across from me, leaning back in his seat.
“As opposed to any other day?” I ask, raising an eyebrow that makes my eyes fucking water.
“What the fuck happened to your eyes, brother?”
“Had a little run in last night. What the fuck is with all the questions?”
Triton laughs before Ransom and Rebel walk over. They both drop into chairs around us and look between us.
“What the fuck?” Rebel asks, nodding toward my face.
“Fuck off. All of you,” I tell them as I shove out of the chair and walk toward the kitchen. As soon as I step in, my eyes linger on a couple of club girls. Their asses sticking out in the tiny shorts and t-shirts they have on showing everything they have to offer. The thought of taking one up on that is tempting today.
“You ladies cookin’ up somethin’ good?”
One of the girls, Tessa, turns and smirks at me over her shoulder. “When do I not?”
I lick my lips as she watches me, knowing what it is she wants from me and the fact that my cock is hardening as we speak. I should take her up on that, but the boys down below need a little breathing space after what that girl did to them. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were black and blue right now and not from the lack of pussy.
“Make us some, yeah?” Tessa nods her head and goes back to cooking as I walk over to the freezer and grab out a bag of frozen fruit. Dropping onto the stool I slap the fucking bag over little Neo and sigh.
“What the fuck happened to your cock, brother? You might as well spill it,” Ransom demands as he strolls through the door.
“Went over to help a little girl last night at the club. Bitch thought I was followin’ her and kicked me in the junk.” The girls all snicker and Ransom tries his best to hold back the laugh, but I don’t find this amusing
at all. I narrow my gaze and dare that bastard to start on me.
“Basically, got your balls kicked into your throat, huh?”
“Fuck off, Ransom.”
“They swollen? Can you even ride with those melons in your pants?” He keeps laughing as he fucks with me. Asshole. I adjust the bag and shift in my seat as he watches me.
“We’re all headin’ to watch Piper tomorrow. Henley in a better mood?” Change the goddamn subject to something aside from my balls.
“Fuck if I know. She was all cryin’ this mornin’. I tossed her some goddamn Twinkies and hauled ass out of the room. Saylor told me to go buy her feminine products.” Now it’s my turn to laugh.
“Then get to it. It’s just like buyin’ condoms, brother.” I laugh.
“Keep talkin’ shit and I’ll kick you in the sack for good measure,” he threatens nodding toward the frozen fruit in my lap.
I can’t believe that little girl pulled that shit. A plate is sat on the counter next to me and as I look up, I see Tessa smile.
“For what it’s worth, I hear it feels like giving birth.” The other girls laugh hysterically before turning and leaving with their food. Bitches.
Grabbing my fork, I set about eating my breakfast when my phone rings. Sliding it out I answer only to regret it.
“Yeah?”
“Don’t answer the phone that way, Neo!”
“Sorry, Mom. I didn’t know it was you. How are you?”
“I’m good. I was just going to tell you that on Sunday I will be having a friend over for dinner as well. I don’t want you to embarrass me,” she says sweetly.
A friend? Since when does she have friends?
“What friend?”
“That is not your concern, Neo. You do not act like a fool when you come over, understood?”
“Yeah, I got you,” I tell her, rolling my eyes.
“Watch it! I mean it. No bullshit!”
The line goes dead right before I was going to say something to her about her language. My mom is all the real family I have left. My dad died when I was a kid and both of my parents were only children. It makes me cherish my time with her that much more. She might be older but that doesn’t mean she isn’t feisty.
