“You…Okay, now I know you’re practically back to normal. There’s that famous Keir wit coming to the fore.”

“Gotta keep you entertained. Speaking of which, how’s Hoyt doing? Working out I hope.”

“Not if I can help it,” Hoyt said, coming into the office. “I’m a pretty sedentary guy.” He crossed to Teague, giving him a swift kiss before taking the only vacant chair by the desk. “And, Keir, before Teague tells you he wishes he hadn’t hired me, he and Jake are keeping me so busy I barely have time to think.”

“Luckily,” Teague said, “only half of that is true.”

“You’re not keeping me busy?” Hoyt retorted, cocking an eyebrow in disbelief.

“No. The not thinking part. You’re mind goes 24/7 when you’re working a case. You solved the problem Mr. Stoner was having in less time than it takes to tell about it.”

Keir eyed the two men. “What problem?”

“It’s a long story, so I’ll give you the gist of it. It seems…” Hoyt said.

“How about you save it for later. I have to get Keir up to speed again and Jake just took on new client and wants you to handle the details, Hoyt.”

“Slave driver,” Hoyt muttered, getting up again. “But—” he leaned over to give Teague a toe-curling kiss, “—the fringe benefits make it worth it.” With that said, he ambled out of the office, winking at Teague just before he closed the door.

“That man…” Teague shook his head.

“He’s changed a lot since I first met him,” Keir commented. “All for the better, thanks to you.”

“We both have,” Teague replied. “That’s what love does for a person.”

“A very romantic statement, and very true.” Keir stood slowly, waving Teague away when he stood to help. “I’m fine. So come down to my lair and show me what you need me to do.”

  Laughing, Teague followed Keir.

Despite everything that’s happened the last two years, I think I’m one lucky man. I have a good business, work with people I care about and respect, and—Teague smiled to himself—I love the most wonderful man. And he loves me back. What more could a guy ask for?

  ABOUT EDWARD KENDRICK

Born and bred Cleveland, I earned a degree in technical theater, later switched to costuming, and headed to NYC. Finally seeing the futility of trying to become rich and famous in the Big Apple, I joined VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America), ending up in Chicago for three years. Then it was on to Denver where I put down roots and worked as a costume designer until just recently.

I began writing a few years ago after joining an on-line fan-fic group. Two friends and I then started a group for writers where they may post any story they wish no matter the genre or content. Since then, for the last three years, I’ve been writing for publication. Most, but not all, of my work is M/M, either mildly erotic or purely ‘romantic,’ and more often than not it involves a mystery or covert operations.
