Scions: Revelation Page 24

Running his hand through her hair, he spoke in a low voice. “I never thought I’d find someone who would make me question my path in life as you have. You excite me on many levels and challenge me on others. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll never get enough alone time with you.”

Emma kissed his palm and tears glistened in her eyes. “We’ll have to make sure we take the time. Our pride will just have to understand.”

Caine’s chest ached with his deep love for this woman. She shared every part of herself and her race with him. Openly. Willingly and lovingly. Cupping the back of her head, he pulled her close and kissed her neck, sliding his lips along the soft skin. “I will take it slow and you tell me if something hurts. Okay?”

Emma wrapped her arms around his shoulders and buried her nose against his neck, nodding.

Sliding his hands up her sides, Caine lifted her off him and laid her back on the bed. Emma sighed and tried to pull him close when he leaned over her. “Not yet,” he teased as he traced his fingers along the curve of her breast and down to her waist. When he bent and kissed her belly button, sparks zinged between them, making his lips tingle. Emma mewled, arching, pressing closer to his mouth.

Caine smiled against her skin. He reveled in the fact she couldn’t get close enough. He understood the reaction. Their connection was so strong, it knocked him off-kilter while at the same time jacking him up.

He slid a finger deep in her sweet body and groaned when she clenched her muscles around him. He wanted nothing more than to sink deep into her heat, to make her scream and lose herself in her lustful urges, but he held back and nipped her skin where her leg met her body.

Emma’s fingers tangled in his hair and she wrapped her leg around his neck. “Taste me again!” she begged, but he didn’t need any encouragement. Her musky smell was driving him nuts.

Her flavor exploded on his tongue.

Emma thrashed and bucked, crying out. She was close. When he started to guide his finger inside her once more, she dug her nails into his shoulders and shook her head, panting as she pulled him up her body.

“Now!” she begged, locking her legs around his waist.

Caine leaned up on his elbows and guided himself into her. It took all his willpower not to ram deep, like he wanted. Emma wasn’t helping his honorable goals. She was rocking her hips and making sexy moaning sounds. Driving him freakin’ insane.

Take her, his inner wolf snarled.

Not yet. He tensed, holding himself back as he eased farther inside her, stretching her muscles. Withdrawing, he set his jaw and pushed deeper as ecstasy rippled through him. Emma’s claws ripped at his skin. The bite of pain along with the smell of his own blood ratcheted up his desire.

A flood of heat shot through Caine’s body, moving straight to his erection. Tiny pinpricks of molten pleasure-pain skittered across the thin sensitive skin along his shaft. His wolf was mating. If he didn’t get this part over, she’d be in even more pain.

Caine spoke in her mind, right before he thrust all the way inside her. You’ve taken my wolf to the edge. I have to now or I’ll hurt you more.

Emma tensed and gasped simultaneously. Preparing to mate, Caine forced himself to remain still. He kissed her jaw and whispered in a raw, ragged voice, “Are you all right?”

Undulating her hips underneath him, she panted. “I feel you stretching me and getting hotter.” She keened, then kissed his jaw. “You are my other half. Make me scream again.”

Caine swallowed the heavy emotions slamming through him that she’d apparently gotten past any pain he may have caused. Running his lips along her temple, he stayed buried deep and slowly began to rock his hips. Each time her muscles tightened around his erection, a shudder of sheer pleasure rushed through him. Mine! he grated in her mind.

She let out an excited cry and met each of his thrusts with aggressive movements of her hips. “Yours. Always.”

He ran his canines along the soft skin between her shoulder and her neck, needing to stake his claim, but he wanted Emma to ask for it. To know she understood and accepted everything that being his mate entailed.

Withdrawing from her, he pistoned deep once more and felt the beginnings of her body vibrating. She was so close. Tremors rocked his entire frame from his groin to his head. “I love you, Em. You are everything to me.”

Tears slid down her temples and she fisted her fingers in his hair. “I love you so much it hurts to breathe sometimes. I want your mating mark. Bite me and make me yours,” she sobbed, near frantic.

Caine pushed her hips deep into the mattress with his last thrust. At the same time Emma’s gasp of pleasure and orgasm slammed through her, he sank his canines into her sweet skin and took the deepest level of possession for a Lupreda.

Her slick muscles fluttering around his erection, clasping even tighter, along with her heightened scream of passion, sent Caine spiraling into his own, explosive orgasm. With each pulse of his body sharing with hers, he experienced an intense bond and an even deeper emotional link to his mate. Emma, mine.

An hour later, Emma lay on her side, running her fingers along Caine’s hard chest. Propping up on his elbow, he traced his knuckles gently over his bite wound on her shoulder. “Amazing!”

“What?” Emma lifted her head slightly and tried to see what he saw but couldn’t. She’d need a mirror. “What is it?” she asked, glancing his way.

He smiled and tiny lines crinkled around his eyes. “You’re already healed. All that’s left behind are faded red marks.”

Her brow furrowed. “Isn’t that the way it works?”

Caine’s eyebrows rose. “If my saliva could heal you, then yes, I would’ve licked your wound to close it and you’d already be healed. But we both know my saliva doesn’t heal a panther, so this means your wound closed and healed on its own.”

Emma adopted the same position, propping up herself. “I thought panthers didn’t heal as fast as a wolves.”

Sweeping her hair over her shoulder, Caine leaned close and kissed her forehead, then slid his lips to her temple. “Maybe that was my mating bite’s gift to you—giving you the ability to heal quickly.”

She smiled mischievously. “Do you think I can shift to a wolf now?”

Caine snorted and ran his fingers across her hip. “Was I able to shift to a panther?”

Laughing, Emma shook her head. “It’ll be interesting to see what other changes, if any, develop within me.”

“Indeed.” Caine’s finger made tiny swirls around her belly button.

The contemplative tone of his voice drew her attention. She looked at him, but Caine’s gaze was fixated on her stomach.

He was thinking about children. Grabbing his wrist, Emma kissed his palm then flattened his hand against her belly. “We’re truly going to be merging our races one day and then our differences won’t matter.”

Caine gripped her rear and scooped her under him with a deep growl. “They never did, my little panther. Not to me.” Sliding his gaze down her body, his feral smile held all kinds of naughty promises. “I can see all the ways we’re the same, but learning all the ways we’re different…now that’s something I look forward to exploring with you in intimate and excruciating detail for the rest of our lives.”
