You're the Only One Page 23

Dillon unbuttoned and unzipped my jeans, and I took the opportunity to pull my shirt over my head and unclasp my bra. As he pulled the last of my clothes off, I waited for his reaction. This was his first time seeing me completely naked and exposed. I should feel vulnerable, but instead, I felt powerful.

His eyes traveled over my skin and onto my face where I saw nothing but pure admiration and love. I grinned at him as I lowered my foot and used my toes to push down the front of his sweatpants, finally freeing his erection. My eyes widened, and I glanced back at him before staring some more.

He had the most perfect dick I’d ever seen—long, straight, thick, and oh-so hard. When he noticed me staring, he smirked and wrapped his hand around his shaft, stroking himself. Dillon hissed out a breath at the contact, and I nearly came just from watching him. Reaching out with his other hand, he found my clit with his thumb and made tight circles against my bundle of nerves. My back arched, and I gripped his sheets in my hands as passion and need took over.

I felt Dillon change positions, and before I had a chance to open my eyes, I felt his tongue between my legs. I sucked in a breath, my hand going to his hair, as he took my clit into his mouth and slipped two fingers inside me.

“Fuck, Dillon. Please, don’t stop.” I begged as my fingers curled into his short hair and pulled him closer.

He groaned, and the sound sent vibrations ricocheting through my body, sparking the beginning of an orgasm. My feet dug into his mattress as my hips lifted off it, begging for more.

“Don’t stop. Please, don’t stop.” I chanted as his tongue moved faster against my clit.

I gripped the sheets again as my orgasm kept climbing higher and higher. Once it finally reached the peak, my eyes and mouth opened, as it all came raining down in a shower of ecstasy. My legs began to shake, and Dillon continued his assault on my clit, his fingers slipping faster inside me as I convulsed around them.

It was the longest and most exquisite climax I’d ever experienced.

When the sensation finally faded, my body went limp, and Dillon kissed a trail up my stomach and back to my breasts. I mewled and moaned when he took my nipple into his mouth again, his hard dick sliding into the wetness between my legs.

“That was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” he murmured against my neck.

“It was the most amazing orgasm of my life,” I told him, taking his face in my hands and kissing him.

My tongue swept into his mouth as he pressed himself closer.

“I need to feel you,” he whispered. He sucked in a breath when I lifted my hips. “Do I need a condom?”

I shook my head. “I’m clean and on the pill. I don’t want anything between us.”

Dillon searched my face, his heart pounding against my chest. I knew he always used condoms, no matter what, but I wanted to be his exception. He didn’t respond. Instead, he kissed me, adjusting himself until we were aligned, and he gently pressed his hips forward. My eyebrows furrowed as he stretched me, slowly filling every void. He wrapped his arms around my body, his fingers digging into my back. When he punched his hips forward, I cried out with the sting and the overwhelming fulfillment the motion brought with it.

Lifting himself to his elbows, Dillon looked down at me, his chest heaving with his labored breaths, his hooded eyes glazed with desire. “Are you okay?”

  I nodded. “Yeah, don’t stop.”

Dillon leaned down and kissed me as he started to move, pulling his hips back and thrusting them forward. He started at a leisurely and steady pace, increasing his rhythm as his orgasm drew closer. I held on tight as he gripped my shoulders, his pelvic bone pressing against my clit with every push of his hips. I could feel a second climax approaching as his movements became more frenzied, and his hips lost their cadence. He grew harder inside me, and my body reacted by tipping another orgasm over the edge, bursting into sparks of spine-tingling pleasure.

When he felt me squeezing and pulsing around him, Dillon groaned, pounding harder, his muscles turning to stone beneath my hands. Whimpering, I held him tight as his body began to shake. He grunted, his skin slapping against mine, as he claimed the deepest parts of me and found his release.

We lay there, both of us fighting to catch our breaths as we floated back down to earth. I blinked a few times, reality sinking in, and we both gasped when Dillon pulled out of me and rolled onto his back.

Turning my head to look at him, I lifted my eyebrows. “Dude. Your dick is way bigger than I expected.”

Dillon laughed so hard, his shoulders were shaking, and I smiled as I watched him.

He rested his forearm on his forehead, and when he finally stopped laughing, he peered over at me and said, “I think that’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever said to me.”

  DILLON

I woke up at ten o’clock on Sunday morning to Kuma whining and licking my arm. The sun was so bright, I groaned as I peeked my eyes open to check my clock.

  Shit.

I’d planned on waking up earlier for our drive to Maryland, but Sky and I hadn’t fallen asleep until close to four a.m.

Rolling over, I swept the hair from her face and kissed her cheek. “Time to wake up. We need to get ready,” I whispered, peppering kisses on her shoulder.

She moaned and stretched her arms over her head, a smile curling her lips.

“I’m going to take Kuma out real quick. Don’t fall back to sleep.”

She nodded and mumbled, “Okay,” while curling her hands under her pillow and tucking her legs into a ball.

  “Hey!” I shouted, startling her.

  Sky’s eyes popped open.

“Wake your ass up, or I’ll be forced to tickle you.”

Sky’s eyebrows furrowed, and she got up onto her elbows. “All right, all right. No tickling.”

Chuckling, I stood up and pulled on my sweats and a hoodie before grabbing a pair of socks out of my drawer. “I’ll be right back.”

After taking Kuma on a short walk around the block so that she could do her business, I came back into my apartment to find a fresh pot of coffee waiting for me. Sky’s hair was pulled back, and she had a pair of chunky gold earrings hanging from her ears. She wore tight jeans, black boots, and a blue turtleneck that looked a lot like my new sweater with buttons down the side of the collar. She was standing in my kitchen by the coffeemaker, drinking from one of my mugs and looking sexy as hell.

  “Wow. You got ready fast.”

She set her cup of coffee down and smiled. “I slept like a baby last night.”

Walking over to the kitchen, I pecked her on the lips and smacked her ass before grabbing another mug from the cabinet. “Thanks for making coffee.”

  “No problem.”

Sky walked over to Kuma’s bowl and fed her as I poured myself a cup.

I loved how natural things felt between us. She was at home here, and that was exactly what I wanted. Leaning back against the kitchen counter, I took a minute to soak in all the turns my life had taken in such a short amount of time—my relationship with Natasha, my mother’s cancer, my music, Sky. It seemed that, although some of them were hurtful and tragic, others were liberating and triumphant, and together, they’d created memories that would stay with me forever.

Sky came back to retrieve her mug of coffee, and I set mine down to wrap my arms around her. I hugged her from behind as I started humming the tune to “That’s the Way Love Goes,” and she slowly rocked her hips to the beat, leaning her head back against my shoulder.

In that moment, I knew; Sky was the one. She was the woman I was meant to be with, and I hated that it had taken me so long to come to that realization. We’d lost so much time, and I wanted to spend every second I had making up for it.

“I love that you sang that to me last night.”

  I kissed her neck. “Yeah?”

She nodded before turning around to wrap her arms around my neck. “When you woke me up this morning, I thought I might’ve fantasized last night. All of this feels like a d
ream sometimes, doesn’t it?”

“Isn’t that why we moved to New York? To chase our dreams?”

Sky smiled. “Yeah, I guess we’re finally starting to catch them.”

Around four that afternoon, Sky and I were a few minutes away from my mom’s house. I was filled with a mix of emotions, but most of all, I was eager to see her and to tell her my good news. I knew my mom would be excited to see us, and that was the most important thing to me. I wanted to be sure she was happy and knew how much we all loved her.

My mom didn’t know we were coming. I’d called Cathy earlier in the week to let her know, and she’d said she’d be at my mom’s house to greet us. As far as I knew, my mom was still doing okay, but she had been spending more time in bed and feeling weaker over the past few weeks. I’d still called her every other day to check in and hear her voice. I’d even sung to her from time to time when she asked.

Sky sat next to me, staring out her window, with a bouquet of flowers in her lap. We’d seen them at our last stop and bought them for my mom.

“You okay over there?” I asked, peering over at her.

“Yeah, just a little sad, I guess. I’m trying to get all my pouting out now before I see Camilla. I don’t want her yelling at me again.”

I grinned and reached over to take her hand. “She’ll be happy to see you.”

“I hope so. I’m still a little scared to tell her about us.”

  “Why?”

“You’re her son, and she’s known me since I was a kid. What if she thinks I’m not good enough for you?”

“Not good enough? What are you talking about? She adores you.”

“Well, that was before we were dating. I’ve heard the things she’s said about your other girlfriends, Dillon. I mean, Natasha? She was a model who went to law school, and even she wasn’t good enough for her son.”

I chuckled and shook my head. There was no way my mom would be upset that Sky and I were together. She’d probably throw a party.

“You worry too much. Trust me, I know my mom, and she’s going to be happy for us.”

Sky turned to face her window again and muttered, “I hope so,” but she didn’t seem convinced.

When we pulled into my mom’s driveway, I noticed the piles of dead leaves all over her grass. I made a mental note to clean them up while I was here. As we got our bags out of the car, Cathy came out of the house to meet us.

“Hey, guys!” She hugged Sky first and then came around the car to hug me.

  “How is she?”

“She’s good. She’s in the living room, watching her shows. But, before you go in, I want to warn you; she’s lost a lot of weight. I didn’t want you to be alarmed or shocked by it. The doctors all say it’s expected, and we’ve been working hard on keeping her hydrated.”

  “Is her nurse here?”

Cathy glanced at Sky before shaking her head. “Your mom sent her home. She said she didn’t like having a stranger in her house all the time. I was able to get her to compromise and have the nurse over every other day.”

“What? Why didn’t anyone tell me?”

“She made me swear I wouldn’t tell you. You know Camilla; she doesn’t want you worrying.”

I cursed under my breath and raked my fingers through my hair. Sighing, I tried to let go of my frustrations and be grateful that I was here now. “Okay. Let’s go in.”

When we walked into the house, it smelled like home and fried plantains. Kuma walked in ahead of us, and as soon as she reached my mom’s chair, I heard her suck in a breath. She turned around, and a shining smile lit up her face. She looked pale, and her cheeks were sunken in from all the weight she’d lost, but her eyes were still bright.

“Dillon?” she shouted, holding her arms out for a hug.

Months ago, she would have stood up and run to me. Now, she had to wait for me to come to her. That realization set off an ache in my chest.

“Hey, Ma.” I leaned down and gave her a long hug, rubbing her back and feeling her fragile bones under my hands. “I missed you. How are you feeling?”

“Are you kidding? I’m great. I get to sit here all day, watching my shows, while people cook me food for once!”

We all laughed at her joke because we knew laughter was what she wanted. My mother was the strongest woman I knew. I had no idea how she kept smiling after everything she’d been through.

When she peered over her shoulder, her smile widened when she realized Sky was with me. “Mi Cielo. You came, too? Oh, I’m so happy to see you.”

Sky smiled lovingly and gave my mom the flowers we’d bought her before giving her a hug. “Hi, Camilla. I hope you like them.”

My mom looked at the bouquet and smelled the roses. “They’re beautiful.”

“Here, let me put those in water,” Cathy said, offering to take them.

“Thank you,” my mom said to Cathy before waving her hand at us. “Come, sit.”

Sky and I sat down beside each other on the couch. My mom was watching us closely, and I was sure she could sense a difference between us.

“Tell me what’s been going on.”

Sky nervously glanced at me, and I gave her a reassuring grin.

  “Sky and I—”

I was about to tell my mom about us when Sky interrupted me, “Dillon got the money for his album! You should have seen him last night.” My mom’s eyes bounced between Sky and me as she continued to ramble, “Anthony Banner made a video, saying he wants to work with Dillon! Can you believe it? Anthony Banner! You should have seen it, Camilla. There was a huge crowd waiting to hear him sing.”

Cathy had walked into the room halfway through Sky’s spiel, and her face lit up. “Anthony Banner? Oh my God, Dillon! That’s amazing!”

Sky nodded enthusiastically, happy her mother was unknowingly assisting in her attempt to change the subject. I smiled and shook my head.

“I never doubted you for a second,” my mom said, her eyes full of pride.

“When will you start recording?” Cathy asked, sitting on the arm of my mom’s chair.

Leaning forward, I rested my elbows on my knees and clasped my hands. “I don’t know for sure yet. Matteo is trying to get in touch with the producer and let him know that we’re ready. It could be any day now.”

I looked at my mom, feeling torn. I wanted to get started on my album, but I didn’t want to leave her. Especially after seeing how frail she’d become.

“And what about you, Sky? Your mom tells me you kicked that polyamorist to the curb and started your own business.”

Sky laughed, and I looked at her over my shoulder.

“Yeah. Things have been pretty crazy. In a good way though.” She met my gaze. “I’ve never been happier.”

When Sky and I turned back to face our moms, we knew they’d figured out that something was up. They both seemed suspicious.

“You have something else to tell us?” my mom asked.

  “Um…”

  Sky hesitated but I didn’t.

“Sky and I are together. We’re in love.”

Peering back at Sky, I reached over and took her hand in mine. She smiled shyly at me before risking a glimpse at my mom.

Cathy gasped and covered her heart with her hands. “Oh my goodness! This is the best news. I’m so happy for you two.”

I smiled at her, but it wasn’t her opinion Sky was concerned about. My mom was watching us but hadn’t reacted yet. She looked peaceful and satisfied when she finally grinned at Sky.

“I can’t think of anyone I’d rather see my son with, mi Cielo. You have no idea how happy you’ve made me.”

Sky’s eyes glossed over with tears. She smiled at my mom and nodded, too choked up to speak.

“I told you,” I whispered, leaning over to nudge her shoulder with mine.

Sky laughed and pushed me back. “Whatever.”

Later that evening, I sat by my mom’s bed as she started to fall asleep. It reminded me of the times she’d tucked me in at nigh
t when I was a kid. I hoped my presence was as comforting to her as hers had been to me.

“I love you, Ma,” I told her, taking her frail hand in mine.

I rubbed my thumb over her skin, noticing the veins just below the surface. They were more visible now.

“I know you do, mijo. I love you, too.” My mom peeked her eyes open and grinned. “I’m so proud of you. Don’t you ever forget that, okay?”

I lowered my head and nodded, not wanting her to see the pain in my eyes. “Okay.”

“Cheer up, Dillon. Life is too short to not be grateful.”

“I am grateful, but I’m selfish, too. I want more time with you.”

“I know, but wishing for things that cannot be is a waste of energy. Let’s make the best of the time we’re given.”

I grinned. She never ceased to amaze me.

“Besides, we have important things to talk about.”

I straightened my back. “Like what?”

“Like when you plan to marry Sky and give me my grandbabies,” she said with a smirk.

I chuckled and shook my head. She might look a little different, but she was definitely still my mom.

After she fell asleep, I went into the guest room to grab my notebook and work on my music when I got a text from Matteo.

Matteo: I spoke to Steve. He’s ready to start on Wednesday afternoon around 1.

I dropped my phone on the bed and sighed. That only gave me two more days in Maryland before I’d have to leave. That wasn’t enough time, but I knew I didn’t have a choice. If I wanted Steve Bivins to produce my album, this would be my only chance.

Walking out to the dining room, I found Sky working at the table. Leaning against the wall, I stood there, watching her, as she stitched a shirt together with my mom’s old sewing machine. Her blue eyes were focused as she followed the seam she was making, a tendril of her hair falling forward and into her line of sight. She paused, tucking it back behind her ear, when she noticed me.

“Hey. What are you doing over there?”

  “Watching you.”

“Creeper.” She grinned and started sewing again. “How’s Camilla?”

  “She fell asleep.”
