He pulled my shorts and panties from my legs, placing them neatly on the sand next to me. I wasn’t sure why I felt so naked in front of him, having already been examined so closely in his office. His fingers slid up my legs, tickling my inner thigh until they reached my pussy. My flesh was swollen, my clit aching, and I could feel my juices slowly working out of my plump lips. His eyes never left mine as he slid a finger deep inside of me.
The fear of feeling like he was examining me was gone, and as he worked it in and out slowly, all my nervousness disappeared.
“I’ve been dying to taste you,” he said, lowering his mouth to my navel. He kissed gently, then let his tongue slide down my belly, slowly tracing the thin line of hair above my pussy before lowering to the flesh that ached for his touch. I arched my back, moaned out louder than before, and his eyes unlocked from mine, focusing on the meal he was about to receive. My eyes closed; feeling the slipperiness of his tongue glide into my tight hole made my legs relax, knees fall apart, and my body go limp.
I didn’t have much experience, but it was obvious he did. His finger slid into my opening, his tongue pushing around it, lapping up my juices, and then his lips tightened around my clit to gently tug at a perfect rhythm that sent my orgasm rushing through my body and into his mouth.
He rose up from between my legs, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. My lips parted but I couldn’t speak, only pants escaped my throat as he worked on opening his shorts.
I watched as his cock was unleashed, large, pink, and smooth. His hand gripped it, sliding slowly back and forth as he watched me squirm. The sand pushed between my ass cheeks as he pressed into me. My body opened, welcoming him in, my hips widening to make room for his large member, and my pussy working up more juices to help glide him deep into my body.
He thrust into me, slowly at first, and then harder as my body rocked against his. He gripped my hips, pulling me toward him, giving me a deeper penetration with each thrust. Another orgasm was already building, causing my clit to pulsate, and my nipples to burn. I began to throb around his cock, and soon he throbbed with the same rhythm inside of me. My nails dug into his back; my legs wrapped around his waist to push him as deep inside me as possible. He groaned, pushing fast and furiously into me as we exploded in one another’s arms.
I felt his weight push me into the sand as he worked to catch his breath. I was unable to speak, unable to move, my body still twitching as he held me.
The fire was burning lower, but still offering warmth as he rolled off of me and onto his side. He stared into my eyes with those wildly sexy baby blues and licked his lips as they curled into a smile. “You’re a mess,” he laughed, reaching out to brush sand, and whatever debris was in my hair.
I was certain I would find sand in my body for days, possibly weeks. But I knew each time I found a grain, I would smile as I remembered this night. It was the night that my sexiest dream came true, and with the sexiest man I’d ever met.
“Would you like to get cleaned up?” he asked softly, brushing my hair from my face.
I wanted to lie there forever, but as the fire started to go down, it grew colder and colder.
He stood, gripped my hand, and pulled me to my feet. He gathered our clothes and pulled me toward the deck of his house. A large shower was situated underneath the deck, complete with hot water. I stepped underneath the streams of warm water, washing away the tiny particles of sand from everywhere I could reach while Elijah joined me, helping to clean the spots I couldn’t. It was sensual, and with the blood still flowing to my clit and nipples, each time he touched me it made me let out a soft sigh. “You make the sexiest noises,” he said sweetly, and then kissed me on the cheeks.
“I never got that tour,” I said with a smirk, hoping the night wasn’t over. I wanted more, much more.
“That’s right,” he said with a smile, grabbing a couple towels from a large trunk under the deck. I wrapped myself up, gathered my clothes and followed him up the stairs to the house. He shook out our clothes, and then brought them inside, putting them into the dryer as soon as we walked into the kitchen. “That should get most of the sand out,” he insisted.
I was standing in his gourmet kitchen wearing only a towel, ready to get the rest of the tour when his phone vibrated across the counter. He looked disappointed, devastated really, when he looked at the screen. “It’s a patient,” he said.
I was even more devastated than he looked, realizing the night was in fact over. He picked up the phone, mostly listened for the first couple minutes, and then said, “Head that way now, and I’ll meet you. It looks like we’re having a baby tonight. Congratulations.”
He hung up the phone and was obviously getting ready to apologize. “I’ll get our clothes,” I said quickly, moving toward the dryer.
Most of the sand was gone, all gathered in the lint trap, but as I slid on my shorts, tiny grains of sand hit the floor. “You might want to get new clothes,” I laughed.
He didn’t hesitate, running up the stairs, and then returning in new, fresh clothes a few minutes later. “The hospital is in San Diego, so I can drop you on my way,” he said.
He gripped my waist, pulled me in tight, and kissed my neck until I melted in his arms. “Rain check on the tour?” he asked.
“Yes,” I said.
Chapter Six
Elijah and I continued our ritual of several texts each day, and then a short phone call at night before he gave me an excuse as to why he needed to go. Then, back to texting. Maybe he just hated talking on the phone.
“So, you were at his place?” Caroline asked, intrigued that she may have been wrong.
“Yeah,” I said confidently.
“And, there were no signs of another woman, or anything else strange?” she asked.
“Strange? Like what? Heads in a jar?” I laughed.
“What was it like?” she asked.
I explained to her how beautiful it had been: the large living room with glass that overlooked the ocean, the desk, the gourmet kitchen, the private beach and fire pit. “What about his bedroom?” she asked. “You can always tell if there’s a woman involved by the bedroom. A pink throw pillow, an extra toothbrush in the master bath, or even tampons under the sink,” she laughed.
“I didn’t see his bedroom or upstairs at all really,” I admitted, telling her the tour started on the deck, and then didn’t make it past the beach.
“Claire!” she exclaimed.
“What?” I asked, confused by her reprimanding.
“You have no idea if he planned things this way now. He had the scallops there, the salads already prepared. Wood by the fire, and then the phone call, do you seriously think that was all a coincidence?” she scoffed.
“You are being ridiculous,” I snapped.
“Maybe I am. But, I just don’t want you to get hurt. Why won’t you let me know more about him? Where’s his practice at least?” she asked.
“Please, just let it go,” I pleaded.
I knew if she had any idea where his office was, she’d find him. I Googled Elijah, OB/GYN myself, just to make sure she wouldn’t be able to find him that easily, and nothing came up. He didn’t have his first name listed, just his initials, Dr. E. K. Andrews. There were several other doctors within forty miles that had only their initials listed as well, and thankfully, more than a dozen had names starting with the letter E. His practice was a large group of medical professionals, not all OB/GYN’s. Finding him would be tougher for Caroline than most. She wasn’t exactly computer savvy.
“I’ll let it go. You’re probably right. Why would he even bring you to his place if he had something to hide?” she said, seeming to admit defeat, at least on this topic.
“Thank you,” I said sternly, glad the conversation finally found an ending.
I was still a little curious myself about why he always rushed off the phone, and why I never was asked to call him, but instead he’d say, “I’ll call you.”
You’re letting her get i
nto your head, Claire. Let it go; it’s nothing.
Elijah called; his regular ten-minute phone call. “I miss you,” he said sweetly.
“I miss you too. Will I get to see you this weekend?” I asked.
It was Friday, and I’d only seen him once for a quick lunch on my day off the past week. My body was still aching for the encore of our evening on the beach, and my mind still working overtime to figure out what he may be hiding.
“I hope so,” he said.
“You have to work?” I asked.
“I have a few things here that need done,” he said quickly.
“I could help you,” I offered.
“I couldn’t ask you to do that. I’ll get it done, and then we’ll pick up where we left off,” he said.
My knees got a little weak remembering how good it felt to be in his arms. I was overly anxious to see him again, but I couldn’t help it. I really liked this man. I mean, really liked him.
“I can drive to you so you don’t have to come all this way,” I offered.
“Tell you what. I’ll call you when I’m done around here, and then we’ll figure it out. I don’t mind driving to you,” he said.
I was left feeling a little confused. It was almost as if he didn’t want me back at his place. Was Caroline right? Did he have something to hide? Was that night planned? It didn’t make sense. It was just too elaborate, too methodical, and that wasn’t like Elijah.
“I got to grab the laundry. I’ll text you in a bit,” he said, hanging up after a quick goodbye.
There it was: another excuse to rush off the phone. What is with this guy?
I took a long shower and decided to head to La Jolla. I wasn’t going to Elijah’s, but I wanted to be close enough so when he called, I could get there quickly. I slipped into a cute sundress, found a pair of strappy sandals in the back of my closet, and pulled my hair into a sexy, loose bun.
The drive there gave me time to think about all the things Caroline said. Her voice was in my head as I made it to the shopping district. I parked my car, looked around at all the shops whose goods I couldn’t afford on my temp salary, and hesitated to even get out of the car.
I picked up my phone, dialed Caroline, and felt my heart beating fast as I waited for her to answer.
“Hey, sis,” she said, her voice perky and filled with enthusiasm it’d been lacking over the last few weeks.
“Hey. You sound like you’re in a good mood,” I acknowledged.
“Todd came home today,” she chirped.
I leaned back in my seat, took a deep breath, and decided maybe I shouldn’t burden her with my problems.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing. I just wanted to say hey. I’m so glad Todd’s home. You guys have big plans?” I asked.
“We are staying in. It’s been a while, if you know what I mean,” she used her deep voice when she spoke.
I laughed. I knew exactly what that meant. She’d been complaining about only having phone sex since the day he left for Europe.
“Well, I probably won’t hear from you for a few days,” I teased.
“You mean weeks,” she laughed.
“I’ll let you get to it then,” I said sweetly.
“No. Not until you tell me what’s wrong,” she demanded.
“Nothing’s wrong. I promise,” I said.
“I call bullshit, Claire,” she insisted.
I normally loved that she could read me so well, but in instances like this, I hated it. “Where are you?” she asked.
“In La Jolla,” I said.
“Oh, no. Is it Dr. Feelgood?” she asked.
I laughed at her pet name for him. My body reacted with a twitch between my legs at the realization that the name was more accurate than she’d ever know.
“No,” I said.
“Claire, what’s going on?” she asked.
“I just came out here to shop,” I lied.
She pushed until I finally told her what had happened. I told her about the phone call, how he’d rushed me off again, and how he acted like he didn’t want me there, but that he’d rather be at my tiny apartment.
“It makes no sense that he’d rather drive all the way to your place, and of course, stay at your place, when he has a beautiful beach house, and you are willing to come to him,” she said.
“Something’s not right. I don’t know exactly what it is, but it isn’t right,” she insisted.
I knew she was right. There was something amiss in this situation. I couldn’t exactly call it a relationship yet, even though we talked every day. I didn’t really have a right to butt into his personal life, did I? But I was falling for this guy, at least a little bit. I needed to know before it went any further.
“Just pop in,” she suggested.
“I couldn’t.”
“Why not?” she asked.
“It’s so pushy, so forward,” I said.
She laughed.
“It’s not 1950 anymore, Claire.”
I thought about the article I read in his office. The author talked about situations like these. Why should women just wait to be called, to be wanted? Take what you want. Get what you want. These were her words. They were the same words from the same author that gave me the courage to ask Dr. Andrews out, even after he’d had his face in my vagina. Damn, I wished I could remember her name, the magazine, or even just the article. I could use it right now.
“What if he gets mad?” I asked.
“Then you don’t need him,” she replied sternly.
“You’re right,” I agreed.
We hung up after she wished me luck, and I told her to enjoy her evening with Todd. I started my car, pulled out of the parking lot, and headed down the road toward Elijah’s house.
There weren’t any other cars in his driveway as I pulled up, just his. The door was shut, with no one outside, and no sign of anything amiss. What if I did make a mistake? I was so afraid of looking foolish, like a jealous or needy cling-on unable to wait for a phone call. But I was already here, and I needed to know.
I walked up to the door, rang the bell, and then felt my heart beating uncontrollably in my chest. A few moments went by, and he didn’t answer, so I was ready to duck back to my car. No fuss, no foul, as they say.
“Claire?” he asked, opening the door only partially.
I stood on his front steps, staring into those beautiful blue eyes that I once thought honest, and felt betrayed. Why was he not opening the door, and why did he seem so disturbed I was there?
“I was shopping, and you said you were home getting stuff done around here. So, I thought I’d stop by and see if you needed any help,” I said coolly.
“I told you I’d call,” he said shortly.
My heart sank.
He guarded the inside of his house with the door half-closed against his back. He slipped out, closing it behind him, making it clear he didn’t want me to come inside. “Are you not alone?” I asked, fighting back tears in my eyes.
His face grew pale. He looked like a deer in headlights as he struggled to answer my question. It was a simple question. Is someone fucking here with you or not, you lying bastard?
“It’s complicated,” he said, and then paused as his eyes shifted to his feet.
“I should’ve known,” I said, turning to walk away. I was about to cry, and there was no way in hell I was going to let him watch me do it.
His hand gripped my arm, pulling me back toward him. “Stop,” he said softly.
“Daddy,” I turned to see a little, brown-haired, blue-eyed girl standing at the door. She couldn’t have been more than six, her front teeth missing, and her hair in perfect braids. Oh God, he is married, with a family!
He wrapped his arm around the little girl who stepped out onto the porch. “Who’s your friend?” she asked.
“This is Claire,” he said softly. “Claire, this is Charlie,” he said, and then offered a warm smile.
“Go on inside and play sweeti
e,” he said.
The little girl disappeared and I stood there on the bottom step of his stoop, one step from being out of his life for good, confused.
“I should’ve told you,” he said softly.
“You’re married?” I asked, tears falling quickly down my cheeks.
“No, of course not,” he insisted. “It’s just me and Charlie,” he said quickly.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked.
“It was too soon for you to meet her. I really like you, and I wanted you to meet her. I just couldn’t find the right time to tell you about her,” he said.
I felt horrible for being so pushy, for thinking the worst, and mostly, for intruding into his life so abrasively.
“Will you come in?” he asked.
I followed him inside. The little girl sat on the couch, watching cartoons. Elijah walked into the kitchen to make us a drink, and I sat down beside the little girl. She was sweet, extremely friendly, and had her father’s eyes. I was curious about her mother. Why did they split, when did they split, and was she still someone he loved?
At twenty-two, I wasn’t exactly ready for a family, but my heart strings were certainly tugged by Elijah, and as she told me about the plot in her movie, getting excited as she spoke about the bad witch, and her eyes widening with joy when she talked about the princess, Charlie, too, tugged at my heart strings.
“Would you like to stay for dinner?” Elijah asked.
“I don’t want to intrude,” I said, quickly realizing that was exactly what I was doing.
“Stay. Daddy’s making meatballs,” Charlie said, gripping my arm and batting her eyes.
“How could I refuse that invitation?” I said sweetly, to which her eyes lit up and she bounced in her seat.
I didn’t ask any questions about her mother while we ate. After dinner, we played Candy Land, and then Go Fish. “Go get your pajamas on, and I’ll be up shortly to tuck you in,” Elijah instructed to the little one with sleepy eyes.
