Looking down she saw Romo change back to his dragon. Jumping in the air, he flew straight to her and she took off coasting on the breeze. Never had she done anything so amazing and incredible. There was nothing ordinary about her dragon side, it was fabulous.
She and Romo chased each other around the sky but she knew they had to go. It wasn’t because of the dark, she could see perfectly. Someone might see them and that would never do. Slowly circling lower and lower, she touched down on the ground and seconds later was in human form again. Her mate followed her down the same way and became human quickly. He pulled her into his arms and she could see he was emotional.
“My every dream just came true. You are the loveliest lady dragon I’ve ever seen. My mate, you are perfect in every way.” Lifting her chin, he kissed her tenderly. She felt exhausted as he led her to the SUV. Staying awake with difficulty, she knew she needed some answers now.
“Is it normal to be so tired now after I’ve changed?”
“Yes, it will take time to adjust. The change pulls a lot of energy out of you but your body will adjust and stockpile energy to make it easier in the future. That pain you felt? It will hurt less each time and at some point the change will begin to feel glorious.”
“Will I feel different in human form? Will I have the sharper senses?”
“Yes and yes. It may happen all at once or slowly over time. At some point I hope you will be able to talk to your dragon and she will help educate you about the changes and about dragons in general. They have a race memory that they can access once they take their form. You will never have to be alone again. She will be your best friend and your biggest supporter. There is nothing we can’t do now, Bree. Both our forms are a perfect match. You’ll love her once you get to know her.”
“I’m sure I will but she’s not spoken yet. Does it take a while?”
“Females just don’t change completely all at once, except for your cousin. There’s no normal yet but it’s such a huge thing you shouldn’t worry if it takes time. Let me get you back to our room so you can eat and rest. Everything will look better in the morning.”
“I hope you’re right.” Bree leaned back in her seat and she was asleep in seconds. It was in her dreams her dragon came to her and she could get a really good look at her.
You’re lovely with those golden scales. The small touches of green and red are so dramatic. Are you my inner dragon? Bree asked.
I’m you, but in another form. We’re one yet we’re two sides of the one. Her dragon replied.
Will you teach me what I need to know? Bree asked.
Everything you need from me, I will give you. There is no me without you. Her dragon admitted
Bree felt almost as if she was flying. Her dragon faded away and her dream was gone.
“Bree, wake up,” the voice said.
“Huh?”
“Wake up, Baby. We’re back at the hotel and I carried you to the room. What do you want me to order you to eat?”
“Not hungry. Want to sleep.”
“Baby, you need to eat to keep up your strength.”
Bree felt like she was covered with leaden weights and her eyes were full of sand. She tried to lift her eyelids, she really did but they refused to cooperate. Romo spoke to her but it was almost too much effort to answer. Rolling over, she clutched the pillow and went back into a deep dreamless sleep. Once morning came, she’d figure everything out.

Come Fly Away With Me
Romo felt invincible as power and happiness surged through him. His gorgeous mate had changed fully into a golden dragon! He’d carried her in to bed last night, but now it was morning and he knew she needed to store some energy.
“Bree,” he whispered knowing her hearing would he much sharper now. “Wake up, my love.”
“Don’t wanna,” she moaned.
Romo tried to think back to the last mate that had changed. Davy had changed on Earth so that was no help. None of the others had gone through a full change so that was no help either. It was simple really, let her sleep longer or make her wake because without food, she’d continue to be tired.
He said, “Baby, please. You need the energy from food. You’ll feel so much better once you eat.”
She rolled away from him and moved her pillow over her head. It would appear that his mate was stubborn. Sliding her shirt up, he started kissing her back. It wasn’t long before she was writhing and moaning under him. He bit her ass cheek and she rolled over and sat up looking at him.
“What was that for?” she asked.
“I was getting your attention, my sweet mate. It worked too,” he replied. “We need to go eat breakfast before it changes to lunch time. I think the buffet might be best so you can eat all you want.”
“Oh, okay,” she agreed. Romo helped her up and started to go into the bathroom with her.
“Not if we want to make it before breakfast is over,” she declared. He could see her point, there would be more loving than showering. Dressing, he then sat down to wait on his mate. He had to admit she hurried. She came out of the bathroom clean and dressed so they could go. Leaning into her, he stole a kiss before they left the room.
The buffet was on the first floor and they had to go through the casino to get there. Romo had never noticed the layout of the building before. Nothing was accessible without walking past slot machines and table games and he doubted that was a coincidence. It didn’t draw him in and Bree seemed a bit irritated with all the loud sounds. The buffet line was long with all the late night gamblers who’d gotten up just in time to catch breakfast but that didn’t bother him. He led his mate around the line to the VIP access ignoring the nasty, hateful, and even downright envious looks those in line shot him as they were ushered to their table.
Ordering OJ for both Bree and himself, he also ordered coffee. The sweet juice should help his mate recover faster and now he needed to get her to load up on protein and add a fair amount of carbs. That would help with energy and muscle building. The change would increase her already well-muscled body.
“Come on, Sweetie. Let’s get you some food,” Romo decided. He led her around the buffet and they each filled two plates.
It didn’t take long to finish eating and he suspected she would want to sleep some more. Wishing he knew more about the effects of the changes she was going through, he escorted her back to their room for now.
“How do you feel?” he asked.
“Better than before and only a little tired.”
“Is there anything you want to do?”
She giggled. “How about you give me a kiss?”
“Anything for you, Bree. You know that don’t you?”
She nodded her head just before he swooped in and claimed her lips with an enthusiasm that showed her just how much he wanted her. He continued kissing a path down her neck until he got to her shirt which blocked his path. Stepping back, he began to efficiently strip himself bare. Bree just stood there watching him as if unable to look away.
“That’s alright, I’ll help you,” he offered just before he began to undress her. He pulled her shirt over her head and tossed it behind him. Unsnapping her bra, he slid it off her shoulders and it fell to the floor. Leaning in, he sucked in one of her pink nipples and pinched the other one between his fingers. She moaned at the slight pain but he rubbed it all better.
His hand moved down to her jeans, unsnapping and unzipping before sliding them down where she toed off her shoes. She toed off her socks next and now stood in front of him naked and fabulous. Looking at her made his mouth water and his fingers itch to stroke her silky smooth skin. He picked her up and moved her to the bed laying her down in the center of it and joining her.

Repositioning himself, he drove in hard and fast. They both grunted as he went balls deep inside her. Sleep settled over them even though he had planned to get things done. He couldn’t regret it, not when his lady rested easy in his arms. Suspecting a baby grew inside her, he would take her to get a physical soon. It was his hope she would be as pleased as he was. After sleeping a few hours, he woke up and just watched his woman sleep for a while. Her face relaxed and peaceful in sleep looked younger, more like a teenager. It was time to wake her or she wouldn’t sleep tonight. He was just about to do that when his phone buzzed and it was Ranger.
“Hello?”
“I need you to come down to the meeting room,” Ranger said.
“Can you give me a hint?”
“Just get down here.” Ranger had sounded excited but was that good or bad? Either way he needed to hurry and he decided to let Bree sleep.
The elevator stopped on the lowest subfloor where they did most things related to their kind. It was a way to stay hidden from the humans that were all around them. This was where the main meeting room for all things dealing with Draconis and their presence among the Earthlings or whatever they chose to be called, happened.
“I’ve spoken to the emperor himself. Maggio has made more threats against Davy’s family including your Bree’s relatives. We need you to liaison between them with Bree’s help of course and offer them the chance to live on Draconis. As is usual, their decision will have to be made blind and it has to be made soon. It will probably be their only chance ever to go unless they meet their mates. The trip has been put off a day for you to make the offer and you have all our resources at your disposal if they decide to go. Do you have any questions?” Ranger asked.
“What was the threat?” he wondered.
“Maggio says none of the girls of the family will be safe. He intends to go after them one at a time until he’s taken them all out unless we give him Davy. The man’s a slime bag.”
“I believe you are learning to fit in here. You’re picking up the colorful language humans have.”
“It’s easy to fall into the habit. That’s something you’ll discover after you hang around Bree more. I bet some of it ends up incorporated into our language. Hell, maybe a lot of it.”
There was no way to argue that their own language hadn’t picked up terms from the various races that had given them their brides. That was something that was impossible to prevent completely, Ranger was right in saying the Earth language was very colorful. Romo couldn’t complain, not only had he gotten the perfect mate, but he might be increasing his family even more. Her mother had been a pleasure to meet and her presence would be a delight especially once their first child came along.
If her sisters were anything like her, it would be good to have them around as well. On a planet lacking females, most males were starved for the companionship of the opposite sex as sisters, friends, and even acquaintances. Sure Romo had a mother but he wouldn’t mind having two. Maybe because of the lack of females born to them, his cultured worshipped and valued females to the extreme. His house would be envied if Bree’s female relatives stayed with them. It would only be for a short while because he was certain they’d all be wooed away even her mother, but it would be nice while it lasted.
“I can deal with the language if her family will come with us. My mate would be delighted to have any of them come along. They are a close family and it was a tough issue for her. She didn’t want to leave them behind, but in the end decided to go with me anyway.” Romo’s smile showed he thought it an amazing victory.
‘Did your mate change?”
“You may find this hard to believe. Not only did she change, but she is the most beautiful golden dragon you can imagine.”
Ranger gasped. “Another one? Maybe the goddess has blessed us by showing us this planet. You know they have dragons in their legends. It’s possible they had dragon shifters here centuries ago. I’ll send word to the king and the emperor. Their decision seems even more correct now in light of this news.”
“To be sure it will be the right thing to do. I only hope they will all decide to go. Maggio has been allowed to run free and hurt many people. It makes me question the value of the men here.”
“I have wondered about that too but with such a large population, they enact many laws and rules. It causes them problems when they try to mete out justice. Maggio has fallen through the cracks in their system and knows just what to do to prevent them from being able to punish him. What he doesn’t realize is that those rules don’t apply to us and eventually we’ll take him out. If he was on our world, he would have never become the problem he is here.”
“Wrong or not, I wish to see that man taken down. He has caused Bree and Davy far too much trouble.”
“It’s good that Bree’s family will be offered a way out. Now it’s just a matter of you relaying the news to them and hopefully they will avail themselves of the emperor’s offer.”
“The emperor himself made the offer?”
“Yes, Jarel took Davy to meet him and the emperor was quite taken with her. He told Jarel he hopes to find a female just like her. What better place to look than among her relatives? They are more likely to be compatible with the males of our planet since both she and Bree are perfect mates. Davy is working in surveillance at the King’s castle until she grow’s too heavy with child. I’ve been told she has made the adjustment flawlessly. Bree and Davy have much in common so her adjustment should be just as easy.”
“I think it will be but I do want her to see our physician before we leave.”
“Do you have a concern or cause for celebration?”
“A feeling for now that might bear fruit.”
“I will set something up for in the morning. Let me know, will you? I know it’s a private thing but it affects us all in many ways.”
“If it’s true, I may shout it from the rooftop.”
“Once you present them with their choice, do let me know what they decide. We will want to take care of them as soon as possible.”
“How is your friend doing?”
“You mean Toni?”
“Yes, are she and her brother doing alright?”
“They are here under house protection until Maggio is dealt with.”
“I thought, well never mind.”
“You saw something between us?”
“Yes, I thought I did.”
“Me too but she resists me. Her brother is an issue and she wants him taken care of before she settles down. None of that can be done until Maggio is dealt with.”
“I wish you the best of luck.
The two of you seem like you would make a great couple and that she worries for her brother shows she has loyalty and character.”
“That is what I believe too. My intentions are honorable and it may take a while but I will fight for her.”
“I’ve seen you fight, victory is assured. Will she be able to take her brother with her?”
“That is probably the biggest problem of all. I just don’t know.”
“I’d best go see to Bree’s family. Good luck my friend.”
As he left he thought he heard Ranger whisper something about needing it. While things were going well enough from an overall perspective considering they were adjusting to a planet that completely alien to them, having to deal with criminals and natives that didn’t believe life existed away from their small sphere was a difficulty no one would have anticipated before visiting here.
All Romo knew was to go back to the room he shared with the most beautiful female he had ever seen and fill her in on what was going on now. There was hope that they wouldn’t be heading to Draconis alone. Joy was the only thing he wanted to see on his mate’s face but he knew if the offer was rejected by all or even most of her family, she might be sadder than she had been when she made the decision to go. Hope was a fragile thing and losing it could be painful. The elevator stopped on their floor and he got off and headed to the correct door. Popping in the room card, the green light flashed and he pushed the door open.
Since the moment the shuttle had landed on Earth, he had adjusted to strange things but he had known he wouldn’t be here long. Bree would be leaving and she would know she might never come back here again. Romo prayed to the goddess some of Bree’s family and most especially her mom would join them on their trip to Draconis.
“Romo,” Bree shrieked. “I woke up and you weren’t here.”
“I got called into a meeting and I thought you needed your rest. Ranger gave me some news, both good and bad. What do you want first?”
