  Chapter 1

“Luke, can you explain to me again why the hell you signed this stupid contract?”

Lucifer Drake, musician, rising rock star, and right now, hung over as hell, slouched at the table in the tour bus.

“I told you already, it was before ‘Wired for Sin’ came out. It was just one of the summer shows I agreed to do. That theater is on a beach, girls in bikinis, bars, ya know…why not?”

Harry, his manager/promotor/right hand man scrubbed at his shaved head, “I got you out of the other contracts so you could do this tour, but I don’t see a way out of this one, this chick must have a pack of lawyers on retainer, this thing is 40 pages long and solid as hell.”

Luke grabbed the papers and glanced at them again, the name Lilly Thorn was scrawled at the bottom. He rested his forehead on the palm of his hand, “Yeah, she IS the lawyer…I think? Something about inheriting the family theater and coming home to run it. I don’t know, I don’t remember,” he paused, grinning “sexy thing though, I remember that. Maybe I should go talk to her?” He did remember Lilly Thorn, hot as hell, she was like Jessica Rabbit come to life, all business, white blouse, pencil skirt, high heels, smooth legs, more curves than the Pacific Coast highway, cooler too. Much cooler, she had barely given him the time of day, but there was something…. He remembered her tumbling hair, her pouty lips and how much he had wanted to kiss them. To feel them on him, somewhere, anywhere…especially there. She was not a skinny club girl, she was a real woman. All woman, with breasts and hips where breasts and hips should be. She had made his cock twitch, and he hadn’t even touched her, except for their hands brushing as he signed the contract. Her eyes had held his a beat too long, but he hadn’t had the nerve to act on it. Knowing he’d be back had kept the memory alive and well. He had thought of her often, like late at night when he needed release, he would conjure her, like he was right now, and just like now his cock would pulse at the thought of her. She was warm and sweet, with hips and breasts, curves in all the right places, she was a handful of woman.

Harry sighed and startled Luke out of his memory/wet dream, and pushed his wire rimmed glasses back up on his nose. “You’re gonna have to talk to her, and you’re probably going to have to honor your contract as well. I dunno, bring your sexy rocker game, maybe she’ll be so overcome with lust she’ll let you out of this. But I doubt it. What’s the rule Luke?”

“Right, I know. No signing unless you’re there. You wouldn’t take my calls then though.” Talking about the rules was definitely taking the wind out of his sexual sails.

“Well I’m taking them now, and this gig is gonna cost us both a fortune. You could be doing a thousand other things, and you’ll be stuck in this dingy little tourist trap of a town instead. You know what? Forget the signing thing…don’t even say the word ‘contract’ unless I’m there,” Harry straightened his short sleeved button down shirt and got up from the table. He rose to his full height of just barely 5 feet tall and stared Luke, who was still sitting, in the eye. “I think you need to give this gal a call.”

  “Sure thing boss. Later”

“Now, Luke! We have some decisions to make about venues, if we’re going to end up in upstate New York on a man made lake in July, well, working around that is going to be a fucking challenge. The sooner we know, the better.”

Harry picked up Luke’s cell phone and dialed. He paused before poking the last number, “just be nice, feel her out, maybe we can work this out?”

“Feel her up? I can do that,” he said, ducking as Harry swatted at his head.

  ***************

The desk phone chirped and Lilly checked the caller ID, “Hey Chelle, would you get that for me, I don’t recognize the number.”

  “Sure thing,” her assistant, said.

“Lillylillylillylilly…..it’s Lucifer Drake!!!” Chelle was standing in the doorway and Lilly could see her vibrating from across the room. Chelle was 18, she was Lilly’s niece, and everything was SO exciting! “Ohmigod….!!”

Lilly smiled, she had been expecting his call, his uh…guy Harry, who seemed to do everything but feed Luke, was very annoyed about the summer show, but Lilly was holding them to it. “Calm down kid, he puts his shredded jeans on one leg at a time just like the rest of us…although come to think of it, they’re so tight, I’m not sure how he gets them on.”

Chelle rolled her eyes, “pick up the phone Lilly, he’s super hot, I can’t believe I got to talk to him!”

Lilly cleared her throat “Mr. Drake, I’ve been expecting your call,” she smiled at herself in the mirror she kept at her desk. Always smile when you’re on the phone. Even if you’re about to eat them for breakfast.

“Ms. Thorn, call me Luke, please,” his voice was hoarse and raspy, he sounded hung over. And sexy, how could he do that just in a few words? She felt her stomach contract and her breath caught, Chelle was right, he was ‘super hot’. She remembered that voice, she remembered everything about him. His chest had seemed like chiseled marble underneath his tight t-shirt, his arms were strong, and yet the skin underneath his biceps looked smooth and soft. She remembered wanting to kiss him there, wondering if he was ticklish… She blew out a sigh. But this was business, she was going to need to control herself.

“I understand we have an issue regarding your little contract”

“Mr. Drake, uh, Luke, well it’s not an issue exactly. You agreed to perform here for the 4th of July weekend, which is our Summer Festival. I realize you signed it last summer, before your song hit the charts, but that’s the chance you take right? It’s just business.”

“Ms. Thorn,” he cleared his throat, it didn’t work, he was still raspy “we’ve offered to pay our way out of the contract, and I know your theater could use the cash. Is there a dollar amount you’d agree on?” Say no, say no, say no, he chanted in his head.

He pictured her as he spoke, ‘buxom’ his Nana might have said. He remembered signing the contract, knowing it meant he could see her again. Her hand had brushed his when they were in the office together and if he thought about it he could still feel the heat of her skin. At least if she held him to it, he might get to see her again. Although he seriously doubted they’d be touching each other any time soon. He wanted this career more than anything, but a part of him, the part Harry said did most of Luke’s thinking, wanted her even more.

“Luke, as I’ve explained to your…uh…to Harry, we’d much rather have your show than your cash. I don’t think I need to tell you how much better for the community it is to bring in a crowd that will be spending the weekend, and buying food and drinks, staying in local motels, and generally spreading around their money, than to pay the theater a one time fee. I’m sorry but I’m afraid the contract stands.” She hoped her voice sounded solid because she had butterflies just talking to this guy. Even his breathing was sexy for God’s sake. Good thing she was sitting down, her legs would definitely not have held up this long if he were here.

  “Mis
s Thorn…’” he sighed, defeated (sort of) “ok, whatever… let’s do this thing. See you on July 1st for load in.” And with that Luke hung up. The part that was doing the thinking was at attention now, and very much looking forward to seeing Miss Lilly Thorn again. Every last curvy inch of her.

Luke sauntered down the hallway of the bus and handed his phone to Harry, who was looking at calendars and piles of paper. “We’re going to the beach, boss.”

“God, that figures, we could make 10 times as much someplace else, anyplace else. So, here’s what we’re gonna do, you remember Pop Culture TV wanted to do a reality style show?”

  Luke nodded.

“Well,” Harry said, grinning, we’re gonna film their little festival. They want a crowd? We’ll give them a crowd, they’ll be lucky if the shoreline doesn’t sink under the weight.”

  Chapter 2

“The buses are here, the buses are here!!” Chelle shrieked.

“Right on time,” Lilly muttered. Ok, she thought to herself, cheer up, off to a good start, right? Somehow she had a feeling that none of this was going to go as planned, and that holding to this contract was going to bite her in the ass. Hard. A wannabe rocker who is sexy as hell, a small town that needs him, and a concert he doesn’t want to play, what could possibly go wrong?

Lilly walked from her office outside, and down the stairs to greet the crew. The interns “apprentices” in theater talk, were milling about and ready to help. The bus was backed up to the loading dock and Luke’s crew was already at work loading in. So far, so good. And then it happened, a cameraman backed into her.

“What the…? Hellooooo? Watch where you’re going! What the hell? Why are you filming load in?”

“For the show lady, can you step aside?”

  “Um, sure?”

Harry walked up and stuck out his hand, looking up at her he squinted behind is glasses, “I see you’ve met the film crew?”

“So, uh, yeah, about that, what’s up with a film crew?”

“Reality TV, we’re filming the whole thing for a special, Lucifer at the Lake, it’s gonna be huge!”

  “Um, no you’re not.”

“We are, though. I checked, your town has no ordinances or permits or anything required for filming, we don’t even have to ask.”

Lilly winced. That was probably true, no one had ever once thought a film crew would turn up, she was pretty sure.

“Well, you should at least talk to the mayor,” she said as a camera circled her head, “this is not going to go over well in town with some of the powers that be.”

“Where’s Lu…,” Lilly stopped mid-sentence. Because there he was. Shirtless. His muscles rippled beneath his skin, and his low slung jeans provided a glimpse of the sharply carved V that led to…she knew she was staring and she couldn’t help it. He had turned her inside out on the phone for God’s sake, seeing him like this, cut like marble walking toward her was doing something to her brain. Turning it to jelly would be her first guess, since she seemed to have lost the capacity to speak. It was doing something to several other parts of her too. His hair was damp, maybe he had just gotten up and showered. The idea of him in the shower…this was not helping. Think of something else, she commanded herself, like, baseball, or no not something with balls-dammit, hedge hogs or porcupines…

“Hey,” Luke said reaching out to shake her hand.

“Hi Luke,” that was about all she could manage right now. His hand was warm and soft in hers, and as he slowly slid it away, the telltale callouses of guitar playing scratched at her palms. The heat from his touch ran up her arm and wrapped around her, causing her to blush. Great, because she had really wanted to re-live those awkward middle school years again.

Lilly shook her head as if to clear it and remembered she was supposed to be annoyed because of the TV crew. “So what’s up with the cameras Luke? Did I forget about something?”

Luke laughed, a deep throaty sexy sound that Lilly imagined would be amazing coming from the pillow next to hers, “Harry cooked it up, trying to make up for the money we’re losing by being here.”

“Oh, ‘cause I’m not sure the town is big enough for you, and your buses and your camera crew.”

“Well we’re signed so nothing to be done for it now. I’m going to finish getting dressed then take a look around at your theater, see what we can do with the place. Nice to see you again, Lilly.”

“Oh, right, ok. Um. Let me know if you need anything.”

He turned and sauntered away and she got a glimpse of the intricate tattoo sliding up his side, it appeared to be in motion as he walked. She had never been a tattoo girl, but that bit of artwork could change her mind, licking it seemed like it would be fun. Oh God, she had to stop.

She stomped upstairs and went back to her office. Below she could hear his voice rumbling and him and his crew walking around. Lilly picked up a report and read the same page three times. She turned to her email and scrolled through her messages. Nothing there to keep her occupied either. She chewed thoughtfully on her thumbnail. It was going to be a long couple of days if she was going to be this distracted by Mr. Hottie there. Maybe it was a good time to go home and clear her head, get some work done at the house, worry about theater stuff later.

Opening her office door, she came face to chest with Mr. Hottie himself. She suppressed a giggle at calling him that.

“Hey, Luke, what can I do for you?

“Were you leaving? Are you on your way somewhere?”

“No, no, just restless with being in the office, what’s up?”

  “Well there’s a problem.”

“Of course there is,” she rolled her eyes “what seems to be happening?”

“Well, it’s what’s not happening actually. It’s the bus, the generator is acting up. I’m going to need a place to stay. I’m really sorry about this. Some of the crew will stay on the bus, some have other plans to be away until we need to tear down, Harry wasn’t staying in town anyway…”

“Um…yikes. Well that’s…yeah we have. Luke everything is full, I’m sure, with the festival and everyone coming back to town,” she groaned and shook her head. “I mean, we can make some calls but…”

“But what?” Chelle piped up as she came up the stairs.

“Luke can’t stay on the bus, the generators is, what? Shot?”

“It’s just not working right is all, and I need a place to stay.”

“Lilly, he can stay with us, right? I mean the house is big enough, you have plenty of room, and it’s just us,” Chelle smiled at Luke “we’re pretty quiet.”

Stop talking, stop talking she willed Chelle, but of course, no luck, That kid just kept on going, she was explaining the floorplan, and how he could have the downstairs suite to himself. The house had been a B&B for a while and it did have accommodations. Lilly just hadn’t wanted to take that on too, while trying to set the theater back on its feet.

“Luke, are you sure about the bus?”

“Yeah, the generator is a goner. Like I said some guys are hanging around, and they might sleep there. The film crew has accommodations, the network is paying for them. Your place sounds great,” he said, grinning.

‘Yeah, well. Ok,” she sighed. Keeping her hands off of him had just gotten exponentially harder, harder…huh, she wondered if he was. Being in the same room with him was suffocating, trying so hard not to feel anything for him was wearing her right out. Who knew? She got up and smoothed her denim skirt over her hips.

“Ok, let’s go, you can see the place and make up your mind,”. So far this was going just swimmingly…

  Chapter 3

Lilly opened the front door to her beach house and stepped into the cool living room. The house was older but renovated, and air conditioned. The living room had windows facing the lake and Luke was momentarily struck by the view. He had been wondering why someone like her, lived someplace like this, but he was starting to see the appeal. “Over he
re, Luke, your room will be down there,” she pointed to some small flagstone steps to the left of the doorway.

Luke stepped down and into a bedroom suite on the lower floor, complete with small bathroom and door to the back deck. It was decorated in neutral whites and pastels, not too girly he decided. “Thanks,” he called up the stairs.

Lilly popped her head around the corner “No problem,” she said “you can relax down here and I’ll have dinner ready in an hour,” she disappeared again and Luke dropped his bags and sat down on the bed. He was suddenly exhausted, her place was so welcoming, he felt like he could relax here. Being “on” all the time, especially with the reality TV guys around, was exhausting. The one guy, Joe? Jonas? Jon…? Well J something, followed him everywhere, even the bathroom. Getting to spend time here was good actually, since her house wasn’t in the contract but the bus was, Luke could take a breather. She was lovely, really. Just the way he had remembered her, maybe better. Her breasts were curvy and delicious looking, he loved the way she moved when she walked. He lay down on the bed, just for a minute he thought…
