  Chapter One

  Ethan

Another planet was dying, and this wasn't brought to my attention?

I sauntered down the marble hall to my father's office inside our manor and entered without knocking.

He was busy looking at papers and didn't bother to look up either.

"Father, what is this? There's another planet dying and we have the means to help them, yet we haven't sent them anything yet?" I asked, walking up to his desk.

My father's office was grandiose. The ceilings were twenty-five feet high and gold dressed the office from head to toe. My father, King Rue was an Omega that ruled our land with a gentle, yet firm hand.

He drew his eyes up from the countless of papers littered on his desk and sighed.

"Ethan, dear son, this isn't something you should worry yourself with." He straightened his papers and repositioned his glasses.

"But they need Flagestrin and we have that! Why aren't we sharing our resources?"

My father bit his lower lip and tried to ignore me. I slapped my hands down on his thick cherry oak desk, demanding for attention. All lives that meant no one harm were precious and valuable. It didn't matter whether you were an Omega, Beta, or Alpha.

"Son, return to your room. This is a matter for me and me alone." He took a sip of his coffee and sighed.

"I am prince of this planet. I have a say in some of these manners. I don't want to just sit on the side of your throne and look pretty!" I said, bending over his table.

My father held his focus on my eyes. He would not get rid of me that easy. My father didn't want me to go through much stress and often hid very crucial manners away from me.

"Dear son, if you'd only understand. You cannot just extend your hand out to the first thing that asks for help. You could help a dangerous enemy. I will say no more," he stood, "out!" he demanded, pointing to is two large double doors.

I straightened my posture and folded my arms in defiance.

"No! I want to know more about this epidemic. What will it look like for a Prince of an Omega ran planet to know nothing?"

My father's face sunk down in defeat. Why did he feel like he needed to handle these manners by himself?

My father's jewels that traced the shoulders of his red suit glittered in the natural sun light from the large window behind him.

The soft lavender smell from the flower garden also made its way inside, calming me down.

"You're supposed to be a happy one, you know? A prince without a care, guarded from the world. No fear of tragedy, conflict--"

"Yet here I am. In conflict with my father."

He walked from behind his desk and placed his black gloved hands on my shoulders.

"You've grown to be a strong prince. I just need you to stay healthy."

A strike of pain shot through my chest. I knew what he was talking about. He didn't need to worry about that anymore. That was another issue.

"Dad," I said, lowering my tone of defiance, "I'm not my older brother. I will not die of heart break or stress."

My father's face cringed then he looked away. Even the slightest mention of his other son could drag him down to a dark sad place where light could not survive.

He drew he into a hug and rocked me side to side. My father almost found a mate once. But after what my older brother, Wen, went through, he denied the Alpha that pined for him the most. Sometimes I thought of Alpha Reed and how he and my father were inseparable.

  A mate.

Would I ever have one of my own?

Rubbish, what was I thinking. My father was still suffering from the loss of a child and here I was, thinking about a mate.

My father's heart would fall apart if I were to risk myself like that.

"Enemies," he said, his chin resting on my head. "The planet that needs the Flagesterin are our enemies. They are dangerous and want to see our whole kingdom demolished. Flagesterin would strengthen them and they'd use that strength to destroy us all."

  I stepped back, enemies?

"We have enemies? Father, that's ridiculous. How do you make enemies with a planet you've neither been to nor bothered?" I asked cocking an eyebrow.

"I don't know. But people will always have their reasons. Now tally along, Ethan, your father has a lot of work to do and a lot of papers to sign."

My father guided me by the shoulder and patted my back before closing the door.

"Enemies?" I said to myself, walking down the hall.

The chilly feeling of the marble beneath my bare feet felt refreshing, but it couldn't hide the concern I felt for an impending conflict with another planet.

This didn't feel nor sound right. The flower garden's bushes and trees waved, asking for my presence. It was a beautiful day outside and I could use the time to clear my head.

There was a solution to any conflict. There had to be.

The guards stood by the main crystal doors that led to the flower garden. They saw me, bowed, and opened the door to the garden. A rush of wind greeted me and blew back the chiffon of my light airy outfit back as I stepped onto the plush green grass.

While I walked through our apple grove a few green apples tumbled down the trees and rolled onto the grass. I picked one up and bit into it. A sweet and tangy juice filled my mouth and made me smile.

We were a peaceful kingdom, why would anyone want to bother a kingdom with lush apples, a kind king, and peace abound?

Our kingdom wasn't without its follies, but we weren't trouble makers by any sort.

"Maybe we could give them a surprise?"

I looked up at the blue sky with its puffy cotton clouds and wondered which planet hated us so.

Hmm, the Ytheros planet showered kindness and concern on us and the Aithos planet helped our kingdom with botany. But knowing my father, he probably didn't even let me know the whole truth of this universe anyways.

My father's words came to mind.

'There's a mate for everyone somewhere in this universe.'

Was there someone out there for me? The curiosity in me burned to know.

I strayed farther out into the field where the anemones grew. A sea of red flowers waved like water in the ocean before me.

  But there was something off.

A dark lump was in the middle of the field.

'Maybe I should go get the guards?' I thought, turning around. Then I stopped.

I glanced at the lump over my shoulders and turned right back around and investigate it myself. I would not help my father make me look like a feeble prince by no means.

Soft petals of the Anemones tickled my feet as I ran up to the strange mass in the field.

As I got closer I saw a face, arms, muscular arms at that.

  'Who is this? They're hurt!'

I tippy toed up to them and surveyed their body closer. It was a man, one who looked like a barbarian warrior. He had weapons to his side, a shark jaw and short black hair.

'What a mass of pure muscle!'

A strong dominant scent wafted pass my nose. He was also an Alpha.

I knelt by his side and poked his shoulder where there were no scratches.

  "Excuse me? Are you awake?"

His body rose and fell, s
o at least he was alive.

The Alpha's eyes shot open and revealed cerulean orbs that struck me to the core. Such kind eyes on a criminal-esque body. I froze, and the Alpha struggled to push himself up on his arms.

"Here, let me help you!" I said, helping him up.

He pushed me to the side, and I fell on the Anemones. "Well how rude! You're injured, you need all the help you can get!" I scolded.

"I need no help from such a fragile Omega," he said. His voice rolled like thunder, powerful and deep.

"I think you do. And I'm not fragile!" I threw my hands on my hips.

The Alpha hissed and groaned from the cuts on his arms and torso. There was one solution to this. And if my father ever found out, I'd never hear the end of it.

"Hold still!" I said, taking a few anemones and crushing them up in the palm of my hand. I closed my eyes and recited a spell, making the flower paste glow.

"An Omega magic user, huh?" the Alpha grunted. Once the spell was done, I got to my knees so I could apply the healing paste.

The Alpha blocked me yet again.

'This is the final straw! I am not to be shoved around like this!'

I knocked him over and straddled him.

  "Damn you, Omega!" he cursed.

"Damn you too! You will take my help. I don't fancy seeing someone in pain!" I said, smearing on the red paste on his arms.

His wounds instantly glowed and the cuts and wounds had begun to close.

"Huh, good with that black magic, aren't you?" he scoffed.

"It isn't black magic. That depends on the intent of the user, you brute!"

"Crawl off of me before those cute hips of yours make an alpha hard."

I gasped and threw myself off of him. "How lewd!" Heat crawled up onto my cheeks.

He shifted up into a more comfortable sitting position and rubbed his healing arms.

"Who are you, Alpha?" I asked, picking another Anemone and smelling it. I rolled it in my fingers as my gaze scanned his body. It was rugged and strong, much like one of those pirate space kings I read about when I was a kid.

"Me? Who are you, small Omega?"

"I asked first." I folded my arms.

'When would he stop calling me small and fragile! How rude!'

  "I am an Alpha king."

"Does this barbaric King have a name?" I asked, giving a sly grin.

I could throw the insults too.

"King Drake Sydelman of the Etherios planet." He got up and cracked his neck. The sound made my bones curdle. Didn't that hurt?

"I've never heard of Etherios. Why are you here?" I got to my feet.

"Halt! Step away from the Prince!" A line of guards shouted, charging towards us.

"No, stop!" I demanded, throwing up my hands.

"I believe it's time for me to go! Farewell, Omega."

He pushed something on his wrist and a purple light enveloped him.

"Ethan! It's Prince Ethan to you!" I shouted before he disappeared in a glitter of light.

The guards ran up and asked if I was all right. They followed me back to the castle, and I knew what was waiting for me there...

  ***

"Do you know how worried I was?! I was worried sick that something happened to you! You're my only son I have left and you go wondering out to the Anemone field without guards? Ethan Andail, you disappoint me. You—you, oh come here!" he cried.

My father squeezed me into a tight hug.

To be honest, his words went right over me. The only thing, well person, I could think about, was Drake Sydelman. He was so… Alpha.

"There was blood on your garments, the guards said." My father pushed his mouth to one side.

Oh no, bad sign. I thought I had told them to keep that between us.

'Figures they'd have more loyalty to the King.'

I sighed. 'Think quick, think quick.'

"And who was that man with you?!" My father was burning his eyes into mine now.

  I paused.

  "Ethan, speak!"

"How come I've never heard of Etherios before, father?"

He gasped and stumbled back into a table. He lost his balance, but recovered and sat down on one of my royal blue love sofas.

"No… no, no, no. Someone from Etherios got to our kingdom?!"

  "Father what is Etherios?!"

He snapped out of his seat and ran to the door. "You are forbidden to go out into the flower garden until further notice!"

  "But father--"

He slammed my door shut, and I heard him tell the guards to keep me inside until dinner time.

What was I now? A precious possession that had to be caged and protected?

  Chapter Two

  Drake

The teleportation device of which my brother Doven created needed significant work. Once I returned to my planet, new and smaller cuts laced themselves on my arms.

So that was Prince Ethan… What a small feeble one indeed. The magic he wielded though, it was strong and potent. It was true, what the Etheriosians said about the Andailian royal family. Their skin would shine an iridescent glow, their eyes could draw you in with their thick black lashes and pink sultry lips.

Ethan had the look of an ethereal being.

My enemy caught me with his beauty, strength, and wit.

Despite his feeble looks, he’d be a formidable foe. With such magic, he’d be able to do many things and defend himself.

But that look in his eyes.

When I teased him about my arousal… he wanted it. Had such a pure-looking prince really stayed pure? Was he a virgin prince?

I shedded off my beaten up armor and clothing and took a quick shower to get the dirty and grime off of me.

There was one thing I didn’t want to wash off though, and that was the anemone paste that Prince Ethan used to heal the wounds on my arms.

The scent of the anemones filled the shower as it began to glow again. It dripped down my body, healing other cuts that it dribbled over.

I was so close to getting the Flagestrin I could taste it.

"Fucking device," I hissed, throwing the small wristlet machine out of the shower, breaking it.

I exited out the room I had set aside secretly for my teleportation and strode down my grand metallic hallway in my new clothes.

‘Zyntha, are you okay? How are you doing? Your brother is coming to check on you.’

The echoes of my heavy stomping echoed around me, warning others to stay out of my way.

My sister was ill, she, just like the rest of this planet, needed Flagestrin. My world would slowly become extinct if I didn't find a way to stop this madness.

Etherios was Alpha driven, but we still had a healthy relationship with the Betas and Omegas that lived among us.

Our planet stayed out of everyone's business, so it came as a surprise that the Andail Planet saw us as enemies.

If they wanted conflict, we'd give it to them. I was the king of this planet, and I was not going to let my people wither away without a fight.

The door to my sister's room was closed. That meant the doctors were in there, tending to her health. I leaned on the wall adjacent to her door and stared at it, willing it to open so I could check on my dear sister.

She was the only sliver of light I had left that reminded me that I had a heart.

The doctors rustled around behind the doors, making me sweat and fidget.

'Why are they moving around like that? What's with all the restlessness?'

A doctor opened the door and closed it behind him. He looked at me and his face trembled with worry and regret.

  "Speak!" I demanded.

"W-we are doing the best we can, King Sydelman. But I have to be honest, there's little we can do from this point forward."

I punched the wall with my fist and the entire hallways shook with my anger and worry.

  Sydelmens didn't fail!

"Save her!" I ordered. "Don't you dare let her die!"

My voice rumbled down the hallway and
I stomped down to my office to think about how I was going to rip every last drop of Flagestrin from those Andails.

I growled and gnashed my teeth while I walked to my office. I punched the doors open and saw Doven, sitting by my desk, waiting for my return.

"Brother, you're back!" he said, standing to his feet.

"Create another teleportation mechanism, better than the last one. I nearly got torn to shreds with this design of yours."

  "Yes, brother."

"Out. I have much to think about!"

I sat down in my chair that was adorned with many opals embedded in gold. The black velvet of my chair matched the dull opalescent glow. Our planet was rich with opals, something I would’ve gladly given up for a healthy amount of Flagestrin.

"Before I go. I have bad news. The rest of the kingdom is getting worser, and it won't be too long before this spreads as an epidemic through our planet."

I closed my eyes and placed my elbows on my golden table. Fuck, this was bad. It was time to resort to old means.

"Doven, call the council here at once."

  "Yes, brother."

Doven disappeared out of the office.

With every passing minute my irritation grew.

'Where are the council members, they should've been here ten minutes ago.'

I stood up and pounded my desk.

"Concil members!" I shouted from my office. Doven ran inside and bowed his head.

"I'm sorry brother, I've tried my very best. They refuse to come to your call. They think it's hopeless now."

I threw my desk at the wall, destroying a chair and my book case that laid in its path.

"Hopeless? The only thing hopeless is them! Etherios shall not die!" I blared, feeling the heat gather at my temples. Where was the refreshing faith my council once had? Where was the vigor of surviving and coming out on top? I was King and yet my power was slipping. How could my own council not come to my command? Did they dare think I was weak?

‘If that’s so I will replace each one of them! As King I can’t have weaklings to my side, it will effect me sooner or later.’

The veins in my body had begun to bulge, every part of my body was stressed and maxed out in every way it could be.
