“How you know? And where is she then?” Amador asked.
“Because starting this morning, our daughters only have twenty-four hours to live unless they make it to the hospital. Driving through the jungle would take three days for her to reach Haiti, but coming through Santiago will take her no time at all,” she replied.
“What the fuck are you saying?” Amador asked looking a little confused.
“I’m saying Tess is in your city as we speak. She has no safe house out here. So someone is helping her, but I will find and kill that bitch, today. Just have the Haiti border guarded well with your men and the airport. If you haven’t seen my loyalty yet, just wait. There are a whole lot more deaths to come, baby,” she said and sat up. Their lips met and their tongues danced in each other’s mouth while she jerked his manhood up and down.
“Now, give me more of that dick,” she said in between kissing him.
CHAPTER 11
Tess opened her eyes and smiled from looking at Bless sleep with his mouth open. They laid sideways in each other’s arms. She closed her eyes and felt at peace with herself and life. 'This is how it’s supposed to be, me with the love of my life and my daughter, a perfect strong family,” Tess thought to herself then reality sat in.
It had been a full day and night since she heard her daughter's voice. “Why the fuck am I doing all this lovey dovey shit?” she said out loud and popped up out of Bless's arms. She looked at her watch that read 9 a.m. and she shook her head.
As soon as Bless felt her leave his arms, he opened his eyes looking around listening to the water running then sat up and looked into the bathroom. He eased off the queen sized bed and walked into the bathroom to see Tess finishing up with washing her face and grabbing her boy shorts and body armor off of the shower door. While Tess was putting on her clothes, Bless could feel that something was wrong. He moved closer and wrapped his arms around her.
“Good morning my queen,” he said in a deep, sexy tone.
“Get off of me!” Tess said while wiggling herself free from his grip.
“Tess, what wrong? Why do you have an attitude?” Bless asked with a puzzled look in his face.
“Everything is wrong. It is 9 a.m. This is the latest I’ve slept in five years,” Tess said frustrated.
“Baby, what’s wrong? I’m not understanding,” Bless replied.
“What you’re not understanding? I have to retrain myself to be around you, Bless. As for right now, you are a weakness for me. Got me fucking and laying around like everything is alright in our lives!” Tess shouted.
“But, everything is alright and everything is going to work out. I’ve never been a weakness to you before, Tess. If anything we were a power couple-strong together, unstoppable," Bless replied.
“Baby, things have changed and I have to learn to adapt and so do you. I am not use to having a man around or you around long dicking me until I am on cloud nine. I'm messing up big time. My daughter is running out of time and I’m having intercourse and oversleeping while she is on her death bed. And no! Don’t say that smooth talking shit about you know my spots and how to seduce me bullshit. Yes, I am a woman, but I am also a mother and a leader. First, Ayoyna is my life. She was all I had to keep me going after I thought I lost you,” Tess said and stormed out of the bathroom leaving Bless standing there with a hurt look on his face.
Tess stood in the room that was set up as a medical room. Doctor Sanchez sat in a brown lazy boy chair fast asleep with a plate in his lap and a half eaten sandwich.
“This is all my fault, baby. Mommy messed up so bad. Mommy misses your voice and you waking me up in the morning jumping on my bed,” Tess said while crying, playing with Ayoyna’s hair, and holding her little hand.
“I need you to fight for me. You have to be strong, baby. Mommy's going to make sure you get better and have the proper treatments,” Tess said and used the back of her left hand to wipe the tear off of her chest. Tess looked over to Isis, “It would be so easy to anyone else to sacrifice your life for their daughter’s, but you’re like a daughter to me. I would be unable to live myself. You are innocent and don’t deserve the pain you are going through because your mother is a monster,” Tess said out loud.
Layla's voice came through the two-way receiver on Tess’s left ear, “Repeat that,” she said.
“Boss, we have movement at the front gate. I’m on the roof of the house and have a clear shot,” Layla replied.
“What do you see?” Tess asked while taking off running out of the room and pulling her caliber handgun out of her thigh holster.
“Whoever it is they have the access code for the front gate and it's only one car, a black Phantom Rolls Royce,” Layla replied.
“A Rolls Royce?” Tess asked as she reached the front of the house and looked through the window to see two Asian Mafia soldiers she had patrolling the property. They surrounded the Rolls Royce and had their Uzis pointed at the car ready to fire.
“What do you want me to do Tess? Should I open fire and give the soldiers an order to kill,” Layla asked.
“Wait! Wait! My instinct tells me that whoever is in that car means us no harm,” Tess replied and smiled as the driver of the car stepped out with his hands up.
He was an older Caucasian guy with grey hair matching his mustache. He slowly back pedaled and opened the back door of the car. An elderly woman in a red Chanel business shirt suit and matching bag got out for the car. Her hair was silver and tied up neatly in a bun making her look more elegant.
“Everyone stand down! Stand down!” Tess said in the two-way receiver while unlocking the front door and stepping outside.
A huge smile spread a crossed her face while looking at Tess walk to her, “Hey Tess,” Susan Powers said.
“Hey Susan!” Tess said while hugging her.
“I would say it’s a pleasure to see ya, but not under these circumstances,” Susan stated.
“Well let’s get you and your driver inside. It’s not safe for us to talk out here and I have so many unanswered questions,” Tess replied as they walked inside the huge house.
“I’d like to see the babies before we start our conversation,” Susan said walking towards the back room on the left that was turned into the medical room.
Bless looked at her suspect, but followed her in to the room. The footsteps woke up Doctor Sanchez as he looked around startled.
“Doc, can you leave the room for a while?” Tess said in a demanding tone.
”Si',” Doctor Sanchez replied while grabbing the plate off his lap.
Susan and Tess watched him leave the room and closed the door behind him. “Do you trust him, Tess?” Susan asked.
Tess held her head down, “Right about now I trust no one, but I need him for the girls, Susan. I already wired two hundred thousand to his bank account without him knowing. I trust him as far as I can see him. The real question is, should I trust you? And how do you know so much about me without me telling you? My whole life no one has been able to track me and know my whereabouts unless an inside person told, but yet this is the second time you were able to find me. So Susan, it’s time to tell me who the fuck you really are!” Tess said and pulled out her chrome 40 caliber handgun and aimed it at Susan.
Susan turned her back and looked at Ayoyna and Isis on separate beds and IV's in their little left hands and wires that traveled from their chest to the heart monitor that beeped at a steady pace. “It hurts my soul to see them both like that,” Susan said while crying. “Tess put the gun away. You know if I meant you any harm you would have never let me in the front door or near your daughter,” Susan said turning around to look at her.
“Right about now, I can’t trust my own judgment when it comes to friends. I was blind to the fact that my best friend has been a snake in the grass the whole time,” Tess said through clenched teeth.
Susan turned back around to look at the girls and Tess lowered her gun, “We have limited time and there is so much I have to share. First off, here
,” Susan said while digging through her Chanel purse and passed Tess a piece of paper.
Tess read what seemed to be an address and number to a digital lock code. “What is this? A code and address to another safe house,” Tess asked.
“No sweetie, it’s an address for a storage unit. I know you’re going to need supplies in sneaking across the Haitian border. And what lies in that storage unit is more than enough to get you all out of here and these babies to the proper help,” Susan replied.
“Thank you, but you still haven’t answered my questions,” Tess said.
“I am an old lady. Let me sit down first,” Susan said and made her way to the brown leather lazy boy chair and sat down, “Tess, I really don’t even know where to start. I’ve always had my eyes on you, even before we met in Europe a few years ago, but like you said it is impossible to track and find you,” Susan said.
“So, get to the point. Because as of right now, you’re just talking in circles, not saying anything meaningful. Why have you been following me all of these years? Who are you? Are you really the person you say you are?” Tess asked in frustration.
“Thirty-one years ago, I was someone else. So no, I am not the person I say I am because I had my name changed. How much do you know about your mother, Tess?” Susan asked.
Tess's facial expression twisted up in confusion, “I don’t know anything about my mother. All I know is, is she died giving birth to me in Guyana and my uncle Thomas raised me,” Tess replied.
“Well, that whole story isn’t true. I didn’t die giving birth to you. I was being selfish and wanted to restart my life and couldn’t do that with a child. Honestly, I didn’t even know who your father was and I damn sure was not about to play the guessing game to find out. Let’s just say I had friendly pussy when I was your age,” Susan said while passing Tess another piece of folded paper. Tess unfolded the paper and her eyes opened wide in shock. In her hand was a birth certificate with her name on it. “When I wanted to leave you at the hospital, my brother Thomas stepped up and took you. I left Guyana, got married, and started all over,” Susan said with shame in her voice.
For the first time in years, Tess felt her body tremble and her heart filled up with emotions, “Are you trying to tell me that you’re my mother?” Tess asked. The words barely left her lips. She studied Susan’s face and could see herself in her. 'Why haven’t I noticed until now?' Tess thought to herself.
“Yes Tess, I am……,” before Susan could finish her sentence a large explosion went off shaking the foundation of the house.
“We’re under attack,” Tess could hear Layla’s voice through the receiver.
“Get down!” Tess hollered while grabbing Susan out of the chair and on the ground as bullets ripped through the house.
CHAPTER 12
“How the hell did they find us? Did you set us up?” Tess asked Susan while lying on the floor with bullets passing by their heads.
“No, I made sure that I wasn’t followed. You have to believe me, Tess. Not being in your life before was my mistake, but I’d never do anything to hurt you, only to help you,” Susan replied screaming over the gun fires.
“How many are out there?” Tess shouted in the two-way receiver.
“There’s only twenty henchmen, so far that I can see. Iris is in a black car. I can’t get a clear shot. They’re coming too strong through the front gate, Tess,” Layla said while focusing her scope and squeezing the trigger sending a bullet through one of the henchmen's throat. She squeezed the trigger again while the henchmen held his neck gasping for air. A bullet entered his left eye and came out of the back of his skull. The driveway and front of the house were filled with Santiago henchmen sending rapid fire into the house while ducking behind the trees and cars.
“Get the girls, I’ll cover you!” Bless shouted while using the butt of his MP-5 sub-machine gun to break the second floor window. He squeezed the trigger sending rapid fire through a few of the henchmen sending them flying backwards.
“Bless, I’m going to need your help carrying the girls!” Tess shouted then looked at Susan.
“What’s the fastest way to get out of here?” Tess asked.
“There’s a limo in the garage behind the house that I used when I’m down here. We can use that to escape,” Susan replied.
Bless fired a few more times then took off running out of the room and went downstairs to the medical room to see Tess and Susan ducking and dodging the bullets that were coming through the house. “How the fuck did they find us?” Bless asked while breathing hard. Bless then turned around as a henchmen rushed through the front door to only have hollow point bullets shred his body to pieces as his body jerked with every bullet that hit him until he fell to his knees.
“Bless stop and grab Isis for me, baby, please. We have to go!” Tess shouted snapping Bless out of his trance. He quickly followed her lead taking Isis off of the heart monitor, removed the IV's, and picked her up as if she weighed nothing. Tess ran into the kitchen. “Here hold her real fast,” she said placing Ayoyna into Susan’s arms.
“What are you doing?” Bless asked.
“Damn baby, I have a lot to teach you when we get out of here. I’m making a little surprise for these fuckers outside that’ll give us some leverage on getting away,” Tess said while grabbing a bottle of bleach, ammonia, and mothballs. She poured the items into a bucket and placed it into the oven. She then pulled the stove out some, broke the gas line, and walked over to the microwave. She placed a fork inside and set it for three minutes.
“What the fuck did you just do?” Bless asked.
“I just made a homemade bomb. It’s time for us to go!” Tess shouted then spoke into the receiver, “Layla, clear out! Meet us in the backyard now!” she said as the lights in the house went out and the microwave stopped.
“Does that mean the bomb isn’t going to work?” Bless asked sarcastically.
“Yep… and it also means we’re fucked and have nothing to slow them down! So, let’s keep moving!” Tess ordered.
Bless kicked the back door to the kitchen open and ran across the green grass. It seemed as though his feet weren’t even touching the ground. He kicked in the side door of the garage. Before he could entered, a henchman came running from the side of the house and spotted Bless. He pulled the trigger of the chrome AK-47 sending bullets towards Bless’ direction which ripped through the garage door and kicked up dirt from the ground.
“Nooo! Ahhhh!” Tess screamed as a bullet slammed into Bless’ shoulder knocking him sideways.
Bless knew it was only a matter of time before he and Isis’s body were filled with bullet holes. Tess pulled out her 40 caliber handgun and held it with both hands. She aimed and squeezed the trigger releasing multiple bullets into the henchman, “Ugh!” he groaned and spun around in the direction of the bullets. Once he was facing Tess, she directed one bullet to his face that shattered every facial bone.
“Damn!” Susan said in shock seeing how fast her daughter could react. She held Ayoyna in her arms close and firmly to her stomach when something caught her attention in the corner of her eyes. She turned her head to see a long white doctor’s coat realizing that it was just Doctor Sanchez. Her eyes grew wide when she noticed him raise a black 38 revolver handgun and aimed at the back of Tess’s head. “Tess!” Susan shouted as she sidestepped blocking Doctor Sanchez’s clear shot of Tess just as he squeezed the trigger. The bullet traveled at rapid speed and slammed into the back of Susan’s head. Tess turned around from hearing Susan shout her name. She knew something went wrong as their eyes met. Susan had a blank stare.
“I’m sorry, baby,” she mumbled as thick, red blood came out of the corner of her eyes like tears. Her body fell against the refrigerator with Ayoyna still tightly in her arms, not letting releasing her firm hold.
“No! No! It was supposed to be you! Why did you get in the way?” Doctor Sanchez shouted while looking at Susan with the smoking gun in his hand, “I wanted you! They promised me
a fortune! It was me who told them where we were!” Doctor Sanchez said and began to pull the trigger.
If he would have remembered who he was dealing with, he would have done less talking. But, it was too late. He saw the rage grow in Tess’s eye. Tess dropped her 40 caliber handgun and with the speed of light she yanked free of her chain blade whip. With a flick of her wrist, the seventeen inch chain whip stretched out and wrapped around the hand that Doctor Sanchez had the gun in as he squeezed the trigger. The new found pain of the razor sharp blades on the chain cut through his flesh. “Ahhh! Let go! Let me fucking go! Let go of my hand, you bitch!” he shouted in a thick Spanish accent.
“What fucking hand?” Tess said through her clenched teeth and pulled the chain harder until it ripped through his skin and to the bone just above his wrist. “Ahhhh! Stop, you bitch!” he hollered as she pulled some more. The more she pulled on the chain the more his flesh ripped away. “Ahhh!” he hollered louder in excruciating pain as his lower arm ripped completely away from his body.
Tess flicked her wrist towards him making the chain blade fly towards his face. Just before the blade hit him, she yanked it back setting free of the detached arm making it hit him in the bridge of his nose. “Ughh!” he screamed and turned around to try to run off until the chain wrapped around his legs.
Tess wasted no time to pull with all her might making the blade rip through his legs pulling them right out from beneath him. “Ahhh! What the fuck!” Doctor Sanchez yelled right before he fell face first to the ground.
Tess yanked the chain back to her and put it back into her holster on her hip. She picked back up her handgun and aimed it at Doctor Sanchez’s back as he squirmed around on the floor.
“Tess wait!” she heard a weak voice say to her. Tess turned her head and her eyes opened up wide. To her surprise, Susan was still alive. She walked toward her, bent down, and lifted Susan's head. Tess looked behind it seeing a hole the size of a button with blood leaking from it, turning her once beautiful silver hair to a dirty red. “Tess, you don’t have time for this. Take Ayoyna and go, baby. I’ll cover you and make sure they won’t follow,” Susan said weakly.
