He took the phone and the newly refilled bowl of oatmeal and fruit upstairs, and after handing the bowl to Symóne, he sat in a chair and began to look through his phone, checking for emails, messages, and calls.
“What are you doing?” Symóne asked.
“Just making sure this phone has everything the last one had,” he said without looking away from the phone. She continued to eat and he continued to search.
The phone rang while he was scrolling and he answered.
“Morning Vince, what's up?” he asked.
“Morning, how are the two of you?”
“We're doing fine. Resting—” he paused, looking at Symóne with a half smile on his face.
“Good. Well, a few things first. I had Gloria to reschedule your meetings until Thursday. I will assist and help get things back on schedule when you return. My assistant and I will go over your case files for the Douglas Case and take care of any incidentals while you put in some time at home,” he paused to let Trevor speak.
“I really appreciate all of this Vince, but I needed to talk to you about everything that happened yesterday. I want to know everything you found out and what happened here,” he urged.
“I understand that. However, you have another very important matter to tend to, and you really need to get some rest yourself. Let it go for today and tomorrow, then we'll hit the ground running when you return to work Thursday,” he insisted.
“Okay. Well thanks again for everything. I owe you big time,” Trevor chuckled lightly then ended the call.
He started scrolling through his phone again when he felt the glare of her eyes burning through him; he looked up in her direction, then smiled guiltily and put his phone on his night stand. He took her bowl from her and leaned to her for a kiss. She exhaled, sort of relieved, not knowing what was going on between them at the moment. She had been feeling a bit disconnected from him since they left the hospital and now she wondered if he were feeling some sort of way about everything that happened.
“So babe, let's try this again. How would you like to spend our quality time together? Are you tired or would you like to do something?” he caressed her face.
A tear fell from her eyes. She didn't want to worry, and believed Trevor when he said that nothing would ever change the way he felt about her, however, he seemed a little too concerned with his ex-girlfriend.
Now that she threatened to continue her pursuit, he has to keep in touch with her in some form. Why was this happening to her? Had she done something so terrible in a past life that she had to succumb to a lifelong battle of torture just to be happy?
“I see your wheels turning. You look stressed and I really need you to stop that,” he said softly, moving to get closer to her, to lay next to her. He put his hand to her belly and lay his head on her chest. Her hand rose up to rest on his head as she let her fingers caress and intertwine with his hair.
“I'm trying. Maybe we can start by you taking a shower and washing the hospital smell off of you?” she snorted in an attempt to lighten the mood.
Trevor looked up at her and smiled, then got up and began to strip down on his way to the bathroom. Pulling his shirt over his head, he darted to the shower and turned it on.
Symóne shook her head sighing, “I know he did not just show me his cuts and leave the room,” she giggled to herself.
While he was in the shower, she thought…it's such a beautiful day outside, I think we will sit by the pool and maybe even take a swim. They hadn't used the pool since they've been in the house, and Trevor has a company coming by every other week to maintain it. Why not use it?
She got up and searched her dresser drawers for a swimsuit that she could fit in, in her current condition. She had a few two-piece suits that she'd picked up on a shopping trip with Faye, so she tried on the one that looked the most flattering to her bulging belly. A bright and colorful ensemble that was sure to keep Trevor's attention on her.
She stepped inside her closet and changed, putting on a netted coverlet and slipping her feet into a pair of wedged sandals and came back out to Trevor's curious face, apparently looking for her.
“Wow…you look amazing!” he grinned.
With his towel wrapped around his waist, he wasted no time going to get a pair of swim trunks to join her.
Chapter 8
At the store, Faye was redoing a staged room ensemble with the new furniture arrival that Symóne had ordered a couple of weeks ago. The store was so successful that it stayed busy all the time. People were waiting for them to open up every morning.
The doors were open, customers shopped, and some even sat and watched Faye while she put things together, which was something she and Symóne decided to start doing during open hours. The customers loved to see how things were put together. They would buy pieces and take them home to mimic what they saw at Designs In Store, Inc.
“Angela,” Faye called out to the assistant store manager.
“Yes?” she approached her with a pen and pad in hand.
“There is a pallet of boxes in the warehouse that contain some new pillows that are supposed to be put on display this weekend, but I think we need to put them out now. Those shelves on the far wall look a little bare and the shipment of specialty bulbs haven't come in yet, so put what's left of those over by the candles and free up that space and fill those shelves with the pillows,” Faye instructed.
Only she, Symóne, and Angela were allowed to stage, decorate, and strategize placements of items in the store. All other associates were to only assist customers and make sales.
“Sure thing. I'm on it,” she turned to walk away, but then turned back to Faye.
“How is Symóne doing, and when is she coming back to work?” she asked.
“She's fine now. She just needs to get some rest and take it easy for a couple of days, then she'll be back by Wednesday or Thursday,” Faye assured her, then started up the ladder to hang some decorative crystals on a chandelier.
The employees were only told that Symóne was stressed and had to be hospitalized yesterday, just so they would know why she wasn't at work and worry about her. It was Trevor's wish that this situation remain private and between the parties involved, to keep down the media circus he already had to deal with on a regular basis due to his type of case loads. They would plaster his kidnapping all over the news and it could cause problems for future cases or the ones he was already handling.
“Okay. When you see or talk to her, tell her I'm glad she's okay,” said Angela as she headed to the warehouse to get busy on her assignment.
Meanwhile, Faye was finishing up the new living room area when a customer walked up to her with a magazine in her hand.
“Excuse me, Miss?”
Faye turned to look down behind her. “Yes, how can I help you?”
“I was wondering if you carry these candle bowls, or know where I can find them?” she showed Faye a set from one of the pages.
“Yes, we carry those over in the glass section,” Faye pointed her in the right direction. “We also have a selection of fillers just for those, depending on how you plan to use them,” Faye suggested.
“Great, thanks!” the woman rushed off to find what she came for. Faye returned to clipping the pieces on the wires when she was distracted again.
“Excuse me Miss?” a man called out from behind her. She turned ready to assist another customer, but had to smile at the raised eyebrow and authoritative pose Alex wore as he stood behind her, looking up at her as she stood on the fourth step of the ladder.
“Yes Sir, how may I help you?” she giggled as she started down the ladder with him taking her hand to assist her. He was in uniform and that always made her day.
“I need some scented candles and a new set of very soft sheets for my fiancé. If possible, I would like for them to match these,” he pulled a pair of her thongs from his front pocket and dangled them in the air.
The look of shock and embarrassment on her face as she screeched and
reached to take them from him, was priceless. His arm was much higher than hers and he chuckled at her jumping to take them from him.
“Alex!” she complained.
Her pout was that of a child about to throw a tantrum, so he gave in before he ruined her day.
Alex handed them to her and she hurriedly balled them up in her hand and rushed back to the office with him following her. She closed the door behind him, then turned to glare at him.
“That was not funny!” she scolded him, but he stepped closer to her and leaned toward her for a kiss. She turned her head, continuing to pout, but he grabbed her arms aggressively, just as she liked him to, and pulled her to him. Faye sighed and conformed to his gesture and instantly forgave him.
“So babe, it's lunch time. I thought you would be ready to go?” he asked her.
She looked at her watch and hadn't realized how late it had gotten. “I'm sorry. Let me tell Angela we're leaving and grab the bank bag so that we can drop it off while we're out,” she promised and headed out of the office.
While she did that, he went out front to wait for her, and a customer approached him. She had to be in her mid-thirties, shorter than Faye, but thick and curvy in all the right places. Her long, dark auburn brown hair, waved deeply down to the mid-section of her back. Even with heels on, she only stood approximately five foot two inches. Her eyes were amber, and dreamy looking as she gave him a once over.
“Officer? May I ask you a question?” her mouth sort of curled up on one side, partially smiling.
He looked at her at first, battling whether to tell her that he was off duty or just hear her question.
Reluctantly, he sighed, “Sure, what's the problem?”
“I see you're not wearing a wedding band? Are you free for lunch?” she looked hopeful.
“Actually, I was just about to take my fiancé to lunch, but I'm flattered that you asked. Have a great day,” he smiled sympathetically at the woman's apparent disappointment.
She pursed her lips, defeat clearly on her face, then sighed and walked to her car, glancing back at him one last time. By then, Faye was coming outside to meet Alex. She quickly hooked her arm under his and chimed, “Lets go Studly!”
He chuckled and let her drag him to her car, because he had driven and parked his police cruiser in front of the store, and they were off.
“So where are we going?” Faye asked from the passenger seat.
“What do you feel like having?”
“How much time do we have?” she smirked at him.
“Enough,” he smiled.
“Okay, swing by the apartment, then we can go eat,” she demanded.
“Yes Ma'am!” Alex started home. “Oh, and Faye…?”
“Yeah boo?”
“This time, let me take off my radio first. The last time you did it, you keyed the mic while you were punishing me,” he chuckled.
Her eyes grew and mouth fell open. “Oh my goodness! Why didn't you tell me?” she complained.
“I didn't know until I was called into the chief's office the next day. They didn't hear much, just you telling me that I had the right to remain hard and anything placed inside your body will be devoured and kept contained until you were ready to release, gave them a sense of what was going on, along with the entire on-duty police department, 911 operators, and dispatch,” he explained.
Faye was so embarrassed that she almost changed her mind, but when she looked at Alex's just snug enough uniform gripping his biceps and hugging other parts of him below the belt, her senses returned without diversion.
They got home and both rushed up to their second story apartment and began stripping before the door was even closed, then made their way to the living room. It was as far as they could go before their sexual version of gladiators was in full force.
At some point, Alex's police against criminal mentality surfaced and he handcuffed Faye to the leg of the kitchen table and walked away. He went to the pantry and took out a bottle of chocolate syrup and stuck it in the microwave for twenty seconds, then took it out and stood over her, squeezing it all over her body.
She hissed at the warm liquid tracing down her torso, then her legs. He then let it pool below her pelvic area. When the bottle was emptied, he sat it on the table and began to circle her in a predatory type manner, letting her excitement build up.
He put his hat and gun belt back on, then grabbed his asp baton, slapping it in the palm of his hand, and began to taunt her.
“So, you were speeding through a pedestrian crosswalk?” he asked her.
“No Sir.”
“There were witnesses. They described your ass to a tee,” he told her. Then he got down on one knee and leaned over her. “I'm going to have to give you a citation this time Miss Brimmer. You are all out of warnings,” he told her.
“No officer, please! I'll do better next time, just give me another chance to prove to you that I can be an upstanding citizen,” she pleaded.
“Well now. Let me think this through,” he said as he looked up in thought. “I'm not sure I can trust you, you're a repeat offender,” he glared at her, leaning almost to her face.
Her heart began to race as he looked down her body for where he wanted to taste her first.
“Please, officer Rose. I promise to do better. I'll do anything you want me to, just let me go,” she dramatically sighed sadly.
“Anything?”
“Yes, anything?”
“Hmm, let me ponder this for a moment,” he dropped his head, his lips resting on her chocolate covered breast. As he began to lick the topping from around the largest part at the base, then worked his way up to her nipples, he lingered there, pulling with his lips, causing her to squirm and moan. He continued down her chest cavity to her stomach.
“Alex…?” she breathed.
“Hmm?”
“Whoo…um…we only have about eight minutes, or we won't have time to eat,” she whispered breathlessly.
“I'm about to have my lunch,” he chuckled.
“Alex!!!” she screeched. She was about to lose her mind if he didn't give her what she wanted, and right this very moment.
He took off his hat and gun belt, not wanting to have to take the time to clean them before returning to work, then he made his way over her. He planted himself inside of her, working her until she began to bite on his shoulder. He hissed, and she nibbled harder.
“Not time for dessert yet,” he pulled away from her, turning her over, letting her rest on her hands and knees. He moved to connect with her again and as she rocked back and forth with his movements, resting her shoulder against the leg of the table, it creaked and protested the ardent force of Alex's motions. He held out, hearing her moans become louder the closer she was to reaching her climax, and when she dropped the top half of her body to the floor, bowing her head between her arms, screaming out her satisfaction, he raised up on her and gave the last of his energy, releasing right along with her. He shivered, and held on to her, his head resting on her back, he let out a moan and gush of air, emptying his lungs. He rolled off of her, and her body fell to the floor, while they both panted with exhaustion.
“Oh my gosh Alex! You are such a bad boy,” she breathed.
He snorted, then hesitantly got to his knees, reaching for his pants to retrieve his keys to un-cuff her.
He cocked his head to the side, realizing they weren't in his pants or anywhere on the table.
“Damn it! The keys are still in the cruiser!” he ducked into their bedroom for a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, then got dressed and stuck his feet in a pair of sneakers.
“You'd better be joking Alex!” she complained.
“I'll be right back, babe,” he promised as he grabbed her keys and bolted out of the apartment to go back to the store.
Faye sighed, not able to go anywhere or do anything but wait.
Only minutes later, she heard loud footsteps approaching their apartment, then there was a knock on the door that startled her.
“Maintenance!” a man called through the door.
Oh crap! He's here to fix the washer! Faye thought to herself, then remembered that they would use their own key to come in if no one was there to let them in.
“Hey! Um…can you come back later?” she called out to him, but there wasn't an answer as he had walked away. It was quiet until she heard steps approaching the door again, and what sounded like a large bushel of keys rambling outside of her door.
She continued to call out to him while trying to raise the table to hopefully slip the other end of the handcuff off, but the bottom of the table's leg was too wide and Alex had closed the cuff too tight. The keys were louder than her words of plea apparently, then the door suddenly opened. Faye had pulled herself up into a ball with her legs crossed in front of her and her free arm wrapped around her knees and asked the man if he could come back later.
Shocked at what he was seeing, he stepped closer. “Miss? Are you okay?” he asked her as he glanced around the apartment for any signs of an intruder. Faye's demeanor seemed fearful to him and he became suspicious.
“I'm fine! Would you please…just leave and come back later?” she demanded her plea.
He hesitated, feeling that there was something more going on. A woman was curled up on the floor naked and handcuffed to a table.
Just as he was about to ask if someone else was there with her, Alex came rushing back in, startled at the man standing over Faye.
“What the hell!” he moved aggressively toward the guy.
“Hey, I'm just here to fix the washer. No one answered, so I came in. I was just checking on her to make sure she was okay,” he explained.
“She's fine!” he snarled as he stepped in the man's view of Faye.
Embarrassed at the realization of what was really going on, he turned to walk out and stopped at the door.
“Do you want me to fix the washer now, or later?”
“Get the hell out of here!” Alex scoffed.
The maintenance man left and Alex quickly unlocked the handcuffs and pulled Faye up to him.
“I guess we'll have to get lunch on the run?” she snickered and leaned up to kiss his lips. She could tell that he was tense, upset that a man was standing over her naked body.
