Over the years since Undying Love was published, I wrote chapters of Endless Love here and there, never thinking I’d ever finish writing the book. Then, something I read inspired me. “A Modern Love” column in the Sunday New York Times. It was a love letter of sorts written by Amy Krause Rosenthal, a critically acclaimed author in her early fifties, who on her deathbed, urged her beloved husband to find someone new after she was gone. Sounds familiar? And uncannily, this amazing woman, who had everything to live for, shared the same last name as my heroine, Willow. Because I envision you smiling at the end of Endless Love and/or crying happy tears, I’m not going to include the link. When I read this moving tribute, I bawled. It reminded me so much of the letter dying Allee wrote to Ryan. I read it again and again. And I shed tear after tear. Just like Allee, Amy passed away soon after and I cried yet again. Through my tears, I knew I owed it to my readers and myself to finish Endless Love. And to Allee as well. The words flowed.
And so, almost five years later, Ryan Madewell finally has his happily every after. Just like his Allee wished. I hope that Joel Rosenthal will get his too. That’s what his Amy wanted. In fact, I hope that all of you, who have lost a cherished spouse or partner, will one day get a second chance and find a new endless love to make your life whole. There is a reason I didn’t type THE END when I finished writing this book. To repeat Richard Bach’s poignant words, “A true love story never ends.”
