Chapter One
“Harder,” Tomnas begged as he writhed face down upon the battered mattress. “Oh, God, go harder. Pound into me. I can take it, Pedri. Give it to me good. Please, I’ll do anything you say, just… God, yes, just like that…”
Pedri grinned savagely to himself as he gripped his friend’s arms, pushing him further down into the nest of blankets they’d gathered together. He slid in and out of Tomnas’ ass on a slippery coating of the finest lube he’d been able to buy for his money, slick as virgin oil and fragrant as a fresh coconut. “Take it easy,” he whispered, butting his chin between Tomnas’ shoulder blades. “We’ve got all night if we want.”
“Won’t last all night,” Tomnas gasped. He humped the mattress as if it were a warm and willing body, its legs spread for him. “Will you?”
“In this sweet ass? Hell no.” Pedri gripped the sides of Tomnas’ hips and pushed him down as he fucked inward, loving the way the man’s channel gripped and held him better than any hand, or in days so long ago they’d almost been forgotten, any pussy, he’d ever known.
In the four years of their training as Apprentice Magi, Pedri and Tomnas had been inseparable, and for the most part that meant they slept in the same bed every night. Quite often, they did more than sleep, keeping their nearby dorm-mates up until near dawn.
Fuck, but those were some good times. Pedri worked his fingers, gripping and flexing them on Tomnas’ tightly muscled flanks, pushing them both toward the final peak. He wanted them to come at the same time, to make the occasion even more special.
This would be the last time they’d have sex with each other -- for years, if not forever.
Pedri blew a lock of corn-colored blond hair out of his eyes and buried his face in Tomnas’ back, hips undulating back and forth with no mercy, going with the pace Tomnas set rubbing against the mattress. “Hold on,” he coaxed. “Hold on. Almost there. Don’t you come before I do.”
“Don’t think I can help myself -- ah, God!” Tomnas bucked, rearing up backwards, clamping down and squeezing Pedri’s cock with his inner muscles. Pedri let out a rough breath of relief and let himself go too, spraying Tomnas down from the inside with jets of warm spunk. He’d have liked for it to go on forever, a moment and a memory to keep with him, like a picture, but like all good things it ended too soon. Pedri leaned on Tomnas for a minute or two, catching his breath, before he drew out and rolled over onto his back.
Tomnas followed him, rolling onto his side. “Like I’d lie in the wet spot,” he said in response to Pedri’s look. The two young men laughed, Pedri reaching out to draw his friend closer. Tomnas came with a sigh and a wriggle of his hips, pushing close so that they both got sticky -- stickier -- but neither cared enough to get up and wash themselves down.
“One to grow on,” Tomnas said after being quiet a little. He reached up to twine a lock or two of Pedri’s blond hair around his fingers, trailing them down Pedri’s pointed chin and tracing his cheekbones. “You sure you won’t come with me?”
“You know better than to ask.” Pedri dropped a kiss into Tomnas’ palm. “You’re not even serious, though, are you?”
“Nah.” Tomnas shook his head. As one, the pair leaned together for a brief kiss. “I will miss this old thing, though,” he said when they parted, thumping the bed they lay on.
“Me too.” Pedri laid his hand flat on the thin-washed sheets, soft as tissue paper and almost as fragile. This bed had a serious history. He and Tomnas had worn the old springs down to a creaking symphony with their bed games during the years of their training together. Now, as the time drew near for he and Tomnas to part, Pedri knew it’d only be fitting for them to use the old resting place one last time. Didn’t matter that they’d earned the right to stay in the Demi-Magus’ quarters before they were sent out to find their Master Magi. He and Tomnas knew what they wanted.
Too bad what they wanted would send them in opposite directions now that they’d graduated. Magick was a chancy business, full of carefully guarded secrets and closely hidden knowledge. Magi didn’t make friends easily, and you rarely found more than one practitioner in a city unless they were teaching.
Not that anyone who wasn’t “in the know” would be aware of them, though. Magi depended on an intricate network of spells and a grapevine that wound around and around in dizzying circles to keep track of each other, and for those who sold their services, they played the game close to their chest.
He and Tomnas were both determined to become Masters, but they’d gone as far as they could in this small training Academy. They’d have to move on to find individual practitioners in the specialties they hoped to conquer.
Pedri gave a long drawn out yawn. “So you’re leaving when the sun comes up tomorrow?” he asked, idly reaching for Tomnas’ hand and drawing their linked fingers over his own smooth hip. “Traditional time for journeys to begin, after all.”
Tomnas nodded. “You too?” Darker than Pedri, with curling black hair and snapping dark eyes, he had a fiery temper and wouldn’t be easily turned down. Which they risked. There was no telling if the Masters they were going in search of would even want a student, much less tolerate one.
Not that Pedri planned on letting any of that stop him. What he wanted, he got, sooner or later, and he had everything planned out. He’d found the location, roughly, of the Master he wanted to teach him everything there was to know about his chosen field, and even if it happened to be a little hard… “What did you say?” he asked, realizing Tomnas had been talking to him.
Tomnas lightly boffed Pedri on the shoulder. “Jelly brain. I was asking if you were sure this Master was the one you wanted. There are others, you know.”
“No one as good as him.” When Tomnas rolled his eyes, Pedri pressed his point. “He’s the best. I don’t care what everyone else says about him. They all agree that he’s tops in his field. His is the Magick I want to learn. Lust Magick.” He grinned, knowing it made him look boyish and charming, shamelessly playing his ‘cute’ card. “He won’t be able to turn me down.”
“No, I wouldn’t be able to turn you down.” Tomnas stole a kiss. “This Dominic Adair, though? Look, no one even knows how old he is. You want to learn about Lust from someone as wrinkled up and withered as good ol’ Yoda?”
Pedri shrugged. “If Yoda is what it takes, I’m there.” He rolled onto his own hip, bringing their joined hands to rest between their cocks. “I’d go with you if I could,” he said honestly. “But we’ve known all along, all four years, that this night would come. That there would be a tomorrow.”
Tomnas nodded seriously. “Yeah.” He rubbed his thumb over Pedri’s hand. “Doesn’t mean
I don’t have a few regrets, though.”
“Same here.” Pedri leaned forward to bump their foreheads lightly together. “Tomorrow morning, we take the next big step to becoming Magi. Give me a kiss for luck?”
“To tomorrow.” Tomnas pressed his lips to Pedri’s, sealing their wish with a small push power. Pedri added his own native ability to the mix, creating a spell of sorts that, even hastily cobbled together, should go a long way toward getting both of them what they wanted.
They parted grinning, squeezing each other’s hands. “I can’t wait,” Tomnas admitted, almost laughing.
Pedri brushed a dark curl out of Tomnas’ face and silently said his farewells. Better now than later. “Me too,” he said, before drawing them both down onto the beaten-thin pillows. “Come on. Let’s rest. Tomorrow is almost today…”
Chapter Two
Dominic took a last drag on one of the special cigarettes he made for himself -- not marijuana, of course; not even peyote. Those were tawdry, mind-clouding implements for those who hadn’t begun to come close to his level. He shrugged as he thought about himself in that light, and exhaled a puff of misty white smoke. Why be modest about accomplishments if you were only telling the truth?
The cigarette had the faint scent of cloves to it, the same scent that filled the room he currently stood in. Dominic glanced around, allowing a grin to slip through at the sight of his home. Who’d expect a Master Magus of his discipline to live in a place like this? No one… and thus, he hadn’t been bothered since oh, what was it, that last world war?
Magi lived a long, long time. If they knew how.
Dominic knew how.
He had a feeling, though… just an odd sort of tingling sensation… that his long stretch of peace was about to be interrupted. Of course he could have picked up a cell phone, juiced with a little power to get a signal even where he was, and made a few calls to see if any unwelcome visitors were coming his way, but why keep things boring? Magick added spice to life. Dominic reveled in the piquant flavors of the power he had at his fingertips, and he used the abilities whenever he felt the urge. Let others talk about self-restraint and throw around cautious homilies on cause and effect.
They weren’t Masters of Lust. Dominic was. And he relished every second of his long, long existence.
He held the homemade cigarette, crammed with herbs of his own choice, summoned by Magick, and studied the glowing ember for a moment. Then, shrugging, Dominic crushed the cherry out in a depression on the stone of a stalagmite close at hand, his favorite ashtray.
He let himself laugh as he looked around at the rock walls and clay formations of the place he called his home. A Master of Lust, living inside a cave? No one would believe such a rumor. Dominic loved every second of their disbelief. Down here, he could practice whatever he wanted, and if he ever missed the sunlight, there’d be nothing stopping him from summoning up a beam or three to light his chambers.
And, as a chatelaine of the hotter powers, he never lacked for fire. Snapping his fingers, Dominic created a small ball of flame and balanced it over the palm of one hand, delicately poising the tiny incendiary as he cast his gaze about, looking for something he hadn’t used in decades. Ah… there it is. More dusty than less and worn around the edges, but it’ll do. It’ll do.
Dominic used his free hand to pull the old fashioned shadow lantern out of the crevice where he’d stowed it, and stepped into the casting circle he’d carved into the stone floor when he first made this place his home. Not just any magic pattern, his incorporated summons to Eros, Venus, and their equivalents in every pantheon imaginable. It’d look like a tangled mess to someone who didn’t know what they were doing or what the lines were intended to convey, which was just the way Dominic liked things. No chance of someone wreaking havoc, even if they did happen to come and disturb him in his home.
Speaking of which… Dominic set the shadow lantern down atop one of Freyja’s sacred runes and touched his carried flame to the wick. The oil in the reservoir had long since evaporated, but a whispered word of power filled it to the brim once again so that the fire caught and began a wicked blaze that lit up the room almost brightly as day.
Dominic licked his forefinger and thumb, then touched them to the fire, damping its brightness down a bit without extinguishing the flame entirely. Once the brightness was to his liking, he sat back easily with his legs crossed, resting on hands planted on the floor behind him. He wore no velvet robes, no amulets of power, no charms or talismans -- he didn’t need them.
“Eros,” he said quietly. “Begin the show.” Dominic didn’t ask -- he ordered. Ordered, and even the gods bowed before him.
The shadow lantern began to turn in a creaky circle, around and around, gathering force and strength. Dominic sat still and waited. He could afford to. What else did he have to do, except what he wanted?
Life was good.
Slowly, the lantern began to work its magic. A silhouetted figure appeared on the cavern wall across from Dominic, piquing his interest. A tall, lean-hipped, broad-shouldered person, a man if the jutting erection at his hips was anything to judge by, walking slowly across a short space, then flickering back and walking again.
“I see,” he said lazily. “This would be myself, right? I’m stuck in a holding pattern, not going forward or moving significantly backwards, and that is just the way I like it. As you well know. Now, show me something I haven’t seen before.”
The lantern flickered sullenly, ground creakily, then cast up a second figure. The axis began to spin more rapidly, casting the pictures up quicker than before. Dominic narrowed his eyes as he took in the sight of a shorter, slimmer man, one with long and untamed hair, walking toward his own magickal shadow.
“So I’m getting a visitor,” he said, reaching for another of his herbal cigarettes. He put one end in his mouth and lit the other with a thought. Dragging in the smoke, he watched the lantern theatre through a cloud of white.
Before his eyes, the smaller man walked confidently toward him, then stopped a short distance away to bow, as if honoring him. Dominic snorted. He didn’t need or want anyone’s shallow compliments. The supplicant wouldn’t be getting off on the right foot if he tried buttering him up.
As if getting the idea, the second figure stood up, shaking hair back from his face -- this was a very good shadow lantern -- and tilted his head toward the Dominic-silhouette, as if listening. They held their positions for a minute, long enough for Dominic to grow suspicious and start watching carefully. “Come on,” he muttered. “Do something. Let me know why you’re here.”
The second shadow dipped its head. Graceful as Leda the swan in her flight from Zeus, but flying toward Lust instead, the man went to his knees. His mouth was on a level with the first shadow’s erection and, as Dominic watched, the second man took that offered cock into his mouth, sliding his lips over the length almost all the way to the balls…
Dominic hissed, dragging in another puff of smoke. “So,” he said after a minute. “That’ll be all.” Then, making it clear he didn’t mean a word he said, he added, “Thank you.”
The flame on the wick in the lantern went out, leaving Dominic in the cold, dank dark once again. He stood, comfortable with his nudity, and crossed the room without a word of respect for his casting circle and the work the pattern had done for him. Dominic didn’t do ritual and routine the way it had been drilled into his head when he was a student, back when men wore wigs and women dressed themselves up in whalebone and enough silk to cover a football field.
He was different. Always had been, always would be, and no matter who was on their way, he wouldn’t change for them. He was Dominic, Master of Lust Magick, servant to no one and bound to nothing. He controlled everything within his sphere of influence, and in three hundred years no one had been able to tell him ‘no.’
Almost casually, Dominic crushed out his second smoke and exhaled the last puff of herb-laced breath. He stood still for a moment as dizziness threatened to cloud
his vision, but when he opened his eyes, he knew they were filled with the same amusement that made him smile. He knew it wouldn’t be a nice smile.
So, someone was on their way to try and learn Lust Magick from a Master Magus. A young man, who had the cocky confidence to walk right up and demand that he be taught. Oh, this was a challenge that would prove to be a lot of… fun.
Dominic blew at the thick fog choking the air, tunneling through the mist with his breath. He laughed, soft and low. “By the pricking of my thumbs,” he said, “Something wanton this way comes…”
Chapter Three
The Magus was nude. That was what Pedri noticed first after stepping into a chamber so full of power it was almost hard to breathe. Naked and completely unashamed, stretched out on a series of rocks with a bowl of fruit by his side. He lolled in his ‘chair’ and gazed flatly at Pedri as if he’d been expecting him -- and didn’t want to see him.
The second thing Pedri noticed was how handsome the Magus was. Young-looking, perhaps no more than thirty, which had to be an illusion -- the man was legendary and had been since before Pedri was born -- with dark, overlong hair wisping around his neck and ears. The locks had been swept back from his forehead, but not neatly, as if by a hand which didn’t care what the end result looked like. Cold gray eyes, but a mouth made for kissing or doing wicked things in the dark. Those eyes made you want to imagine him with you in a soft bed of furs, fucking like an animal yourself, wild and hard and fast, no restraints, no holds barred.
Pedri took in a deep breath as the mental vision threatened to overwhelm him. He could see himself lying on the cloth-covered dais in the corner that must have served the Magus as a bed. On his back, legs raised over the Magus’ shoulders, knees almost touching his own shoulders as he was bent nearly in half. The Magus’ cock touching his entrance. One of the Magus’ long, slender hands guiding himself to Pedri’s hole, teasing at the entrance with a wet tip. He could smell the lube, something fragrant and spicy, like the faintly sweet, faintly clove-like scent that filled the air. He could feel the Magus pressing in with a finger first, finding his sweet spot and milking it ruthlessly until Pedri was crying out, moaning and thrashing.
