Burn For Me (Year of the Dragon) Page 6

Turning his head, he watched his mate waddle out of the bathroom and bit back a grin. She would just hit him if he said how cute her penguin walk was.

“Food’s downstairs in the oven and I ran you a bath. C’mon, Captain Anosov.” She held out a hand and he took it without hesitation.

Kissing her forehead, he said, “I love you.”

Grinning, she tugged him along. “You’d better. Your kid is making an appearance in another month.”

Ryker smiled. He knew and he couldn’t wait. Catori’s pregnancy had done nothing but push them closer together. After the drama with John three years ago, they’d both gotten a semblance of peace in their unexpected relationship.

Catori had already met his parents, who loved her, and he was the only family she had besides Jace. It was sad but a relief all at the same time. He couldn’t exactly take any more psycho relatives.

Since her adoptive father’s disappearance, things had moved slowly but well between them. And eventually—after time and patience—love had blossomed. Their soon to be born baby girl was just icing on the cake. Now if he could just convince her to marry him, all would be right in his world.

Catori took his dirty clothes after he stripped from them. Once they’d found out about her pregnancy, she’d quit the field and relayed her talents to helping track perps from behind the scenes. She complained about boredom, but Ryker knew his mate better than that by now. She was just as content as he was, and as long as it remained that way, he was happy.

As he sank into the tub and she sat on the edge, watching him with a small smile on her face, he corrected his earlier thought; everything was already right in his world.
