Sebastian smiled down at her as the memories flooded back. He knew then who he had once been, remembered her as Bethany and how much they had been in love. He had found her at last.

They walked along the road hand in hand leaving the bakery behind. Sebastian turned to look once more at the place he had thought of as his new home. The windows were grimy, and the old for sale sign was leaning drunkenly on its wooden stake. Shadows were moving around in the house, faces staring out at him, but he turned away as Briony tugged at his hand pulling him towards a thick hedge at the side of the road through which they passed effortlessly. Beyond, he spied a small copse of trees and just visible through the leaves a brightly coloured caravan, the type favoured by the Gypsies of old. Briony smiled as she led him towards it.

  ‘Home.’ She said.

‘Yes, home.’ He acknowledged, ‘And this time it will be forever.’
