"We haven't tried that place yet," I mentioned. I'd heard their Italian menu was pretty spectacular.
"Probably ought to try it soon," Roy said, still frowning. "Rumor has it there are feuds and rivalries among the staff and owners. They say it might be tearing the place apart."
"Hmm. Maybe it would be better to wait until things calm down," I said.
He looked at me and laughed. "Knowing you, you'll be up there for lunch tomorrow," he teased. "Let's just hope no one is fooling around with poisons."
I glared at him, not really appreciating his sense of humor about my propensity for murderous scenarios.
“Let’s go back down,” I said. “I’ve got a wine festival to manage.”
“Okay,” he said cheerfully, totally oblivious to my change in mood. “Another day, another chance to catch a killer. Right?"
As if I was the one setting murders up.
“Sure,” I said dryly, gritting my teeth and jamming my hands into the pockets of my jacket as we started off. “I’ll do my best. As always.”

Bebe’s Orange Chicken
1+ lb. chicken (4 boneless chicken thighs cut into bite-sized pieces)
½ cup Bisquick mix (or plain flour)
1/2 TBS seasoning (Bebe uses Johnny’s Seasoning)
->Put in plastic bag and shake until chicken is lightly coated
->Heat a TBS. or more of olive oil in frying pan. Fry the chicken in batches, turning every one or two minutes to get the meat crunchy on the outside, juicy inside. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
->Pour out any left over oil from the frying pan.
->Add vegetables to the pan:
->Cut up bite-sized bits of broccoli, mushrooms, sweet peppers, about 2 cups in all. Cook the broccoli for 1-2 minutes in the microwave first. Add to pan and sauté until vegetables are barely soft. Add a little butter. You can never go wrong adding a little butter. Once the vegetables are ready, add back in the chicken, sauté a minute or two, then add the sauce.
Orange Sauce
->Mix together in a glass microwave safe container:
1/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup orange marmalade
1 TBS soy sauce
1 TBS brown sugar
1 TBS Rice Wine Vinegar mixed with 1 tsp corn starch
1 clove garlic
1 tsp sweet chili sauce(optional)
Some minced pickled ginger(optional)
->Cook until things are the warmth and the texture you enjoy. Then eat!
