“Chase, I could barely see anything, and I couldn’t even walk straight. When I heard him, I just took off. When he bit me, I think I lost it.” She looked up at Chase. He was bruised and beaten and bleeding. Sam ran her fingers along the edge of his cheek. Chase grabbed her hand and pressed a soft kiss against the palm. He trailed his lips up her wrist and pulled her into his arms. A jolt of heat shot to her center and she moaned in desire.
He’d won. The hunt was over, and he was sitting in front of her. Right?
“Chase, is it over?”
“For them, yes. For you, it just started.”
She straddled his lap, delighting in the sensation of his hard erection grazing her swollen labia.
“Did the bear…er, Scott, leave?”
“Yes.” Chase feathered kisses along the bottom of her jaw. “The bear left.”
“Mmmmm,” she moaned into his mouth, swiping her tongue along the seam of his lips. He returned the kiss with force and rolled her to the ground. She squealed and bucked against his chest. “Rock. Rock! Ow!”
Chase lifted her up and swept the offending chunk of stone out from under her. He smiled against her mouth. “Sorry.”
She giggled. “I’m good. Now where were we?”
A growl rumbled from his chest as he pressed her down to he ground. His hard length teased her wet opening and she thrust up her hips, desperately trying to get him inside. The ache was overwhelming. Every nerve throbbed with anticipation.
He suckled her nipples. Sam hissed out a yes and ran her fingers through his short hair. His body separated from hers for a moment, and she opened her eyes, meeting his heated gaze. For a brief second they just stared, and then he sank his length into her.
One fluid movement—she gasped at the intrusion and reveled in it at the same time. He began to thrust slowly, his hard length stroking her core. Heaven on earth.
Her body clenched and her fangs elongated. Sam bit hard into his shoulder, barely feeling the mirroring bite he was placing on her. Magic surged between them, and the barely humming string of a connection they’d had before turned into a six-lane thoroughfare bridge. Chase’s emotions, his wolf’s emotions, flooded her consciousness. In turn, hers were shared with Chase and his wolf. Their acceptance of her was overwhelming and all encompassing. Tears leaked from the corners of her eyes. She’d never felt such love and support. In those moments all was known between them.
Her climax hit like nothing she’d ever experienced. A wave of white energy passed over her. Every cell in her body hummed. He growled against her shoulder as he came with her. His warm seed spilled inside her body, sealing the link between them forever.
They were as one.
“You can stop running now, Sam.” It wasn’t the familiar voice of her wolf that spoke. It was her mate’s wolf whispering through their connection.
I know, she answered.
Sam had found her home. It was inside Chase’s heart.
