Alice didn’t understand when I tried to explain it to her later that night. Because Alice takes a simple, direct approach and doesn’t fuck herself up with convoluted thinking. Thurman wronged me and I should get him, what’s to think about?
I gave her the whole equivocation, and she gave me a look that told me I was a total moron. She’s good at that look. But I’ve gotten used to seeing it. So I countered by saying, if I weren’t who I am, if I were a different person, the person she implies I should be by giving me that look, she probably wouldn’t have married me in the first place.
That cuts no ice with Alice.
Simple and direct, she assures me that she would.
And I lose another argument.
Still, I like hearing that.
