The Leafing: the 2nd book in The Green Man series Page 36

“Yes!” she cried, “Yes, I will marry you.”

There was an eruption of applause. Owen slipped the ring on her left ring finger. She found she was crying and Owen was too.

In the background the lead singer in the band began to croon, “Wise men say, only fools rush in, but I can't help falling in love with you,” from Elvis Presley’s romantic song “I can’t help falling in love with you.” It was if they were the only two people in the world. The music washed over them. Owen stood up and held her hands and pulled her close.

In her ear he crooned, “Take my hand, take my whole life too. For I can't help falling in love with you.”

Tears pricked at her eyes. Somewhere in the background Sylvia heard a muffled ocean of clapping and cheers, but neither she nor Owen paid any attention to it. Owen took her in his arms and they danced off into the candlelit courtyard where the stars shone brightly.
