I turned and hugged him. ‘I’m so sorry to be such a misery,’ I said, a huge lump in my throat.
‘That’s all right!’ he said smiling widely and squeezing me tight as I sniffed. Then I looked at the shoulder I had my head against, pulled back, and laughed. ‘Oh I love it!’ I said. Terry let me go and gave a twirl to show off the full view of his shorts and brightly coloured palm-tree shirt. Then he grabbed my hand and tugged me into the room and picked up one of the long-stemmed glasses. ‘Drink?’
I caught sight of the bottle of coconut oil on the mantelpiece and smiled as I shook my head. ‘Not just yet!’
I took a last look at the roaring fire and went back into the hall, shivering as the cold air hit me again. ‘Where are you going?’ Terry followed me to the doorway and watched as I began to mount the stairs. I paused and turned back to my lovely husband who was worth a thousand Alans and a lifetime of exotic holidays.
‘Upstairs to get changed, of course,’ I said grinning. ‘Won’t be a minute.’
After all, it was much too hot in the living room for all these woollies and I was pretty sure I knew exactly where to find my orange bikini …
