After dinner, we cut the cake and move back out to the patio for dancing under the stars. As the sweet voice of Ellie Goulding begins to sing How Long Will I Love You, I take Isabel by the hand and move to the makeshift dancefloor for our first dance. Tucking her hand securely against my chest, I pull her in close as we begin to sway to the music. Looking into the eyes of my wife, I see the love I feel for her reflecting back at me. “Happy,” I ask as I continue to gaze into her rich brown eyes.
A satisfied smile lights up her face as she replies, “Yes, blissfully so.”
I grin down at her, “So, I did okay then, surprising you with a wedding?”
She laughs at my insecurity, but assures me in a way only she can, “You did better than okay Logan. Marrying you, surrounded by those we love, it’s a dream come true. Even with months of planning, I couldn’t have planned a more perfect wedding.”
Isabel lays her cheek against my chest as we continue to dance. Knowing that I’ve brought her such joy, makes my heart swell and I whisper into hair, “I love you Mrs. Matthews.”
Raising her head from my chest, Isabel whispers back to me, “I love you too, Mr. Matthews.” Her delighted smile morphs into a mischievous grin as she demands, “Now kiss me husband.”
My smile mirrors hers as I lean in and whisper against her lips, “With pleasure, wife.”
