Pursuit: A Bad Boy Romance Page 49

The way her name rolled off his full lips made her body temperature rise instantly. She nodded her head.

“Lindsey?” He said, looking at her more intently now than he had before, “you saved my life. It is the code of my pack and my honor that I will be loyal to you forever now.”

  Her head snapped up, “what?”

He looked at her with confusion, “what’s wrong?”

“Listen, I don’t want your loyalty or protection or whatever okay? I helped you because you saved my life. You saved me from being raped,” she said, her head hung down.

Jayden slowly rose up to his knees and took her face in his hand; the touch sent a flame of desire through Lindsey that she had never felt before.

“Lindsey, you were bait,” said Jayden softly.

  “What?” She asked him, stunned.

“My pack received word a few months ago from a friend that Dr. Beyer was trying to capture a werewolf. While we aren’t sure how he found out about us, we knew the threat was real. The man who contacted us had been a friend for many years. Dr. Beyer is a sick and sadistic man. He knew that I was watching him, but he always had more men with him then I could safely take down with him. The bastard knew that I wouldn’t let you get hurt.”

She looked at him in shock, “why? Why me? Why not Amy or Kelly?”

For the first time, Jayden looked nervous, “because of the friend who told us of Dr. Beyer and his dangerous experiments. I promised him I would protect you if Dr. Beyer got to him, and he did.”

It took her several minutes to make the connection. When she did, she looked at him in awe, “no.”

  He nodded his head, ‘yes’.

“You mean; you mean my father was killed by the doctor because he helped you?” Asked Lindsey, tears had begun to fall.

“Your father was a great man. You need to know that he loved you; he loved you so much that you have had a wolf guarding you your entire life. He loved you so much; he vowed to protect you, to keep you safe by never contacting you. Your boss isn’t the first man to hunt us. Over the years, your father protected us from men like him. Now I am honored to protect you, I am bound to you for saving my life,” he finished softly.

She was speechless. The tears were running down her face now. Lindsey spent her whole life resenting her father. He had never been there for her, and now she was finding out that he was protecting her. It was just too much.

“Lindsey?” Said Jayden, looking at her with concern.

She looked up to him and saw the sadness in his eyes.

“You knew my father?” She asked him, her voice hoarse and quiet.

Jayden smiled softly, “I did. He was a wonderful and smart man. He wasn’t without fault, though, without you in his life he enjoyed drinking and more often than not, he would end up in a bar fight. He was always ready to protect others though.”

She smiled at him, but it was a sad smile. She couldn’t imagine living alone all those years without your family. Loving them and knowing that they hated and resented you. Lindsey was filled with regret.

“Don’t cry darling,” said Jayden as he wiped away a tear from her face.

“He was a good man, he would be proud of what you did last night,” said Jayden.

“Thank you. Thank you for telling me all of this. I wish I knew the man he was, but I am happy that he was doing something good,” she said to him.

“You know, I heard stories of your beauty, but I never imagined you would be this amazing,” said Jayden, a blush passing over his face.

She raised an eyebrow at him, “what do you mean ‘stories’?”

He blushed again, “as I said, you were always protected. When you went to college, the stories started to come in from those who would watch over you. Stories about your golden hair and enticing hazel eyes and everything else,” he said looking at her.

His eyes lingered on her full breasts. Her mother was short, and so was Lindsey at only five foot three. She made up for it though in her perfect build. She had an athletic build from years of hiking. Her skin was tanned year round because of her father’s Spanish heritage. As she watched his eyes linger on her chest, she started to blush. She bit her lip looking at him; he was delicious looking.

“Well, I suppose if I have to be bound to someone, I am happy it’s you,” she said with a smile.

The look of pure joy on his face made her laugh. She rose from the chair and went to the sink, she needed a stiff drink. She felt his eyes watching her, just like the doctors did. This time though, it didn’t bother her. This time, it awoke a dormant animal need inside of her. She wanted Jayden, and she wanted him now.

  Chapter Five

Lindsey felt his hands on her narrow waist behind her. His breath was hot on her neck. Her own breathing had become ragged and unsteady with his touch. Each movement of his hand felt like a small shocking running through her waiting body. Jayden’s hands circled her waist and she felt his firm body pressing up against her. The heat radiated from him onto her. Lindsey felt his long shaft, erect, begging for release from its bonds. She turned to him, eager to help free his manhood. As she faced him, her own hands started to explore him, feeling his body brought out her animal instinct as she reached down and gripped his rod through the fabric. He closed his eyes and moaned.

When he opened them again, he was looking into her eyes. She could feel him peering into her soul as his head tilted down to meet her own.

“Kiss me,” she begged him softly.

Softly, his lips found hers, tasting like honey and lemon, she willingly opened her mouth to his lips. When his tongue found hers and they danced together, she felt her garden grow wet. He flicked his tongue over hers before pulling back and playfully biting her lip. The move excited her more than she thought it would and she ran her nails through his wavy and unkempt hair. When the bite deepened, she pulled harder on his locks and felt his shaft jump in anticipation. She didn’t know how much longer she could wait for him.

Jayden pulled away from her, much to her chagrin. At first, she thought that he was done and shock went through her body. She wanted more; she needed more of him. He smiled at her and slowly raised his hands to her shirt, the buttons quickly popped as he freed her eager and waiting bosom. She heard him take in a sharp breath at the sight of her erect nipples. As he pushed the shirt from her shoulders, his hands traveled down, lightly brushing the sensitive buds. His hands found their way to her pants, meticulously, he pulled them down as he went down onto the ground in front of her. Now, on his knees, he tenderly kissed her hip bone.

Jayden rose back up, smiling. He was doing an excellent job of driving her insane with desire and he knew it. He started to unbutton his own shirt but she stepped in.

“That’s not fair, I want to play too,” she said.

She leaned up to kiss him, as she did, her bare breasts met the rough fabric of her shirt, causing her to moan softly. Jayden raised his hands to her hips, running them softly over her backside in the process. As she unbuttoned his shirt, she kissed his neck. When his chest was exposed at last, her lips made a trail down his waist to where his pants were guarding his manhood. Lindsey looked up and saw the desire burning in his eyes as she sat on her knees, naked, in front of him.

Her hands moved swiftly to remove the fabric covering his member and when it was free, she gasped at its size. Running her nails along his hips, Lindsey circled around to the thick coat protecting Jayden’s shaft before gripping it firmly in her hand. Jayden was caught off his guard and sucked in his breath. She wasted no time, taking his member into her mouth; she heard him moan. She wanted to stay like that, pleasuring the man that had saved her but he backed away and she licked her lips as she gazed up at him seductively. He kneeled down and picked her up off the ground like she didn’t weigh anything.

“Now it’s my turn,” he said with a dangerous grin.

She caught her breath as his teeth found her erect nipples. His hands were trailing down her body to find spread her open. When h
is fingers reached her garden entrance, he gently claimed what he wanted. As he did, she moaned out, unable to hold it in anymore she felt herself tighten around him.

“Please,” she said to him breathlessly as she ran her nails through his hair.

He didn’t stop his assault on her, though. Instead, he quickened the pace, and she finally let go of herself and felt the climax reaching its peak. Seconds before the release she so desperately craved, she felt his fingers leave her.

  “No,” she whispered hoarsely.

He smiled at her, “not yet my pet.”

She moaned out as he went back down to his knees and his tongue found the spot that his fingers had just left. It only took a moment for the explosion to come crashing down as Jayden tasted her sweet nectar. She needed more though, and she finally got what she had been waiting for as he picked her up and laid her down on the floor. As he rose over her, his eyes met hers and she felt the waves of desire washing over her once again.

Jayden sword pushed into her wet sheath. His large manhood overtook her. She arched her back as he entered her entirely. It was a sweet pain; she had never before been taken by a man so large. She looked at him and saw that he too felt the need for each other was becoming overwhelming. As the rhythm increased and the need grew, she felt herself coming again to climax. Her body tightened around him and she felt his own release coming as his shaft hardened.

He whispered her name; she wrapped her legs around his firm body and dug her nails into his back as she felt her release coming with him. She had never before had such a mind blowing experience. Her entire body felt like a giant nerve ending, each one brought her pleasure as she closed her eyes and the world exploded around her. It wasn’t until she came back down to earth that she realized her phone was ringing.

The couple was spread out on the kitchen floor, unable and unwilling to move. Lindsey felt euphoric. Finally, the incessant ringing of the phone had to be addressed. She groaned as she rolled over. Looking at Jayden, he was spread out on the floor, mouth open while he smiled and eyes closed. She stood up and jogged to the laundry room where she grabbed her robe and tossed him a towel. Finally, she made it to her phone.

“That’s weird,” she said as she looked at her screen. She had five missed calls from a number that she didn’t recognize. Her phone alerted her to a new voicemail. While she typed in her password, Jayden sat up, instantly alert. She put her phone on speaker as the message started to play. Lindsey listened in horror to the voice on the other end.

This message is for Miss Wells. She is listed as the emergency contact for one, Amy Vanhorn. Please return our call as soon as possible, there has been an attack.

Jayden, upon hearing the message was already getting dressed as Lindsey called the hospital. It was a short call and when she hung up, she rushed past him into the laundry room.

“They don’t know what happened, someone found her outside of the coffee shop. She’s been beaten up pretty bad. They say she’s going to make it but she’s about to go into surgery,” she handed him a pair of shoes that her father had laying around.

At that time, she realized that the laundry room had clothing and shoes in almost every size. She hadn’t thought about how strange it was for her father to have it all until that moment. Now it made sense; it was for the werewolves. They both went out to the car, nothing else mattered but going to Amy and helping her. Nothing.

  Chapter Six

“Do you know anything about what happened?” Jayden was asking Lindsey as they drove to the hospital.

“No, but Dr. Beyer saw us at the coffee shop this morning. He even went in after her and came after me,” said Lindsey.

She could see Jayden’s face darken as she told him what had happened. His anger was coming to the surface and she didn’t want to be around when he let it go. She had already seen him angry once. When it had happened before he had almost killed four men.

“I should have killed him the second he walked from the office,” whispered Jayden.

“Jayden, you didn’t know this was going to happen,” she said before continuing, “do you think he’s trying to draw you out again?”

Jayden shook his head, “he has never seen me in my human form, he wouldn’t know who I was.”

“Well, if anyone asks, you’re my cousin okay?” She said with a smile.

He looked at her and smiled seductively, “I don’t recall ever doing anything like we just did with my cousins.”

Lindsey blushed a bright red and smacked him playfully, “you are not very helpful.”

They pulled up to the hospital and parked, he looked around cautiously. Before she stepped out of the car, he grabbed her arm and pulled her in close to him. His lips just inches away from her own.

“Lindsey, I am bound to you and no others. The pack will deal with Beyer and his men okay?” As he looked into her eyes, she felt safe for the first time in a long time.

She couldn’t help herself, she closed the distance between them and kissed him passionately. The first they had shared earlier in the kitchen was not dampened, she felt the desire growing inside of her once again. Lindsey pulled away from him and looked at him. Never before had she felt so much passion or such a strong connection with someone. She had dated before but not like this. It was like she already loved him, he was everything to her and she already knew it. Could she trust that he felt the same though or is it just because of her father?

“Lindsey? Are you still with me?” He asked her, a look of concern on his face.

She smiled at him, “I am, more than ever. I was just thinking about my dad. I can’t think about him any more right now,” she said with a smile.

“Let’s go check on your friend,” he said as he leaned in to kiss her.

She backed away and smiled at him, “not a chance, you keep kissing me like that and we will never make it inside.”

Lindsey gave him a quick peck on the cheek and the two walked inside. She was amazed at how quickly his emotions changed. He went from being romantic and playful to becoming a bodyguard as soon as they stepped out of her car. She knew he was worried and it felt wonderful to have him by her side. Inside the hospital, they were permitted to go back to Amy’s room. She was out of surgery.

“Oh my god, it took you long enough!” Said Amy as they walked through her door, “Oh, is this the man that’s causing all these problems?”

“Wow, I thought this was life and death,” said Lindsey looking at her friend and smiling.

It was true, the woman was covered in bruises much like Lindsey had been but she also had a bandage over her head and a cast on her wrist.

“What happened,” said Lindsey as she sat on the bed next to her friend.

Jayden had moved over to the window and was looking out. They were on the second floor, facing the parking lot. He could see anyone coming from where they were at. Amy watched him and gave Lindsey a questioning look. Lindsey mouthed the word, ‘later’. Watching Jayden look out the window, Lindsey wondered what she would tell her best friend about him. She knew about the wolf, but how could she tell her about the man? It seemed like there would be some code among their kind too. Your girlfriend can’t tell her friends what you are. Lindsey chuckled to herself. Her boyfriend was a freaking werewolf.

Amy rolled her eyes at Lindsey, “fine. So after you pulled your little disappearing act, Beyer came in all sorts of pissed off. He was screaming about a wolf and a man. Something about how you screwed up everything and he was going to have to do more. Then he just stops and walks out of the place. At first I thought it was crazy strange but I was freaked out enough not to push it. I was going to go out the front when I saw that same guy from the office, that frat guy, waiting and watching me from outside the coffee shop.”

“So I decided to act like I was going to the bathroom and give him the slip out the back way. I had almost made it from the alley when I feel something hit me in the back of my head. After that I blacked out then woke up here. I guess some cute blo
nd guy built like your friend there, brought me in.”

At that last comment, Jayden’s head shot up, “did you get a name?”

Amy raised her eyebrow, “Colfax, why?”

Jayden smiled knowingly, “he is an old friend of mine. I am glad that he was near here. I had no idea that he was in town.”

Lindsey looked at him, just as confused as Amy. Jayden looked away from them and once again, Lindsey saw his body change.

  “He’s here,” he muttered.

Amy and Lindsey both froze as Jayden rose from the window and headed for the door.

“Where are you going?” Asked Lindsey as she stepped out of earshot of Amy over to the door.

“I am going to settle this,” he said, his gaze softening as soon as he was with her.

“What? Are you insane? That’s what he wants,” she said to him.

“Please Lindsey, I need to end this, I want to be with you without being chased by him,” he said

She looked at him and knew, she would never care for another man like him again.

“Jayden, please come back to me,” she said to him.

He smiled at her and kissed her tenderly, “I will, I promise my darling. Now that I have you, I will never let you go.” He looked at her once more, “you are mine.”

As soon as he walked from the room, she went to the window. Every bone in her body was against the idea of him leaving her there. She felt a connection to him, she needed to be with him. Something wasn’t right she realized when she noticed a black van parked near the entrance. It seemed almost familiar. Lindsey froze as her mind put together the pieces. That van had been parked across the street the night she was attacked. It wasn’t just the doctor that was here, they were all here. She ran from the room and took the steps two at a time to get to Jayden.

Running through the halls, she thought about losing him. She thought about a life without him now that she had finally found love. Finally, she knew she belonged with him. Lindsey ran through the door and watched in horror as the van pulled away from the hospital. Beyer was driving and he smiled at her as they pulled away.
