GABRIEL’S BABY: Iron Kings MC Page 52

by Evelyn Glass

“You have a dick the size of a wooly mammoth’s.”

A raucous laugh escaped him. “And you’ve seen one of those?”

“In a museum, once. Fucking huge.” She buried her face in his chest. “We need to get the extra large condoms today.”

He rubbed his lips over the top of her head, enjoying the sweet scent of her hair. He wanted condoms as badly as she did, but leaving the sweet cocoon they’d built overnight didn’t appeal to him much. If only they could draw this moment out forever.

“Yeah. And maybe some breakfast, at some point.” His belly rumbled in protest.

Gidget yawned. “I could go for some eggs, for sure. I need to build up my protein after what you did to me last night.”

“After what you asked for,” he corrected her, his lips trailing down between the valley of her breasts.

She giggled, tossing a leg over his hip. After a little cuddling and plenty of kisses, they rolled out of bed. Gidget immediately went to the sink to wash her teeth.

“I never kiss anyone with morning breath,” she said as she ran water over her toothbrush. “You must be something special.”

“That’s what they all tell me.” He strutted over to his bag, fishing his toothbrush out of the side pocket. She smirked at him through the reflection, scrubbing at her teeth. He joined her at the sink, knocking his hip against hers. It felt too easy and natural to do shit like this with her. And tapping into it felt good. Made him feel lax, like he really was on vacation even though he’d just joked about it. This must be what happy feels like.

They brushed their teeth together, making faces at each other in the mirror. Gidget took a quick shower and then they got dressed. She looked him up and down as he pulled on his jeans from the day before.

“Don’t you want to take a shower after all that?”

“Nah. I like having you on me still.” He tugged his shirt over his head. Where in the flying fuck had those words come from? But they were true, truer than he even wanted to think about.

Her cheeks reddened as she shimmied into some leggings and a loose top. Getting Gidget to blush felt like a small victory.

“Let’s get some grub.” He pushed at her hips when she was dressed, and they headed outside. Gidget slid some trendy sunglasses down onto her face as they walked into the blazing mid-day sun. Butch had left his cut inside, in case they were spotted by any other gangs during their hide-out. He couldn’t risk blowing the whole damn thing because of a cut.

They resumed their familiar spots on his bike, Gidget’s arms encircling his waist much more tightly than yesterday as he revved the bike and zoomed off. The whole damn way to the diner he had a grin on his face, probably looked as silly as it felt. Not like he could help it. Not when he felt so free and good on the inside.

He took them to a 24-hour diner nearby, one he’d gone to as a kid. It still looked the same inside, black and white checkered floors, bright red tabletops, a never-ending stream of middle-aged waitresses ready to talk your ear off.

Once they were settled into a booth, Gidget eyed the menu eagerly. “Mmm. They have some good choices here. Even a kale salad.”

Butch lifted a brow. “I was going to say you could order for me, but now I’m not so sure.”

She narrowed her eyes. “I wouldn’t push you that far. Not this fast.”

He drummed his fingers on the table. “I’m never eating kale, honey.”

“But what if you don’t even know it’s there?” A devilish smirk crossed her face.

Butch fought a grin as he perused the menu. There was something delectable about her forcing her ideas onto him. Not that he liked women who tried to control him, or control any man for that matter. But with Gidget, it was different. She gave a damn. She wanted to actually help him. And damnit, it felt nice to have someone care about him like that.

“I’d be able to tell if kale was there, trust me.” Truth was, he had no idea what it even looked like. Just knew that it was more fun if he resisted it.

“Sure. Well, I’d recommend the egg and sausage scramble, for a growing boy like you. But if you grow too much more, we might need to ease up on last night’s activities.” She sent him a pointed look.

“It’s done growing, I promise.” He winked at her, and his cock twitched as though it was aware they’d been referencing it.

A waitress arrived for their orders. They got the same thing, except Butch doubled his order. Gidget looked pleased.

“This is a much better breakfast than your old black coffee and sugar days,” she mused.

“That’s behind me.” He reached for her hands over the table, sliding his thumbs over her knuckles. “Why can’t I stop touching you?”

That same pretty blush crested her cheeks. “I don’t know, Butch. Sounds like a personal problem.”

He squeezed her hands. “Guess I’ll need to have it looked at.”

The two passed the rest of their breakfast chatting and laughing between mouthfuls of eggs and toast. Once their bellies were stuffed and the bill was paid, they headed to a pharmacy, where Butch bought a megapack of condoms while Gidget giggled in line behind him. Truth be told, he’d felt like a teenager all over again buying those condoms, receiving that disapproving stare from the store clerk.

After one more stop at a supermarket for snacks and drinks, they were back at the motel with the whole night ahead of them. They’d barely made it inside the door before Geo called. Butch shut the door slowly behind him, letting it ring a few times before he answered.

  “Geo.”

Gidget snapped her gaze to his, eyes widening. Geo’s trademark baritone greeted him. “Butch. You guys made it okay last night?”

“It was fine. We’re in a motel, everything’s good.”

“Good, good.” He paused. Butch could almost see him pinching the bridge of his nose as he searched for his next words. “You guys left at a good time. Shit’s getting a little tenser around here.”

Butch nodded, sinking onto the side of the bed. “Okay.”

“You guys should stay put until you hear from me or Zebra. It could be a few weeks. They’re looking for Gidget hard.”

His stomach sank. A few weeks. What could they do here for that long? Fucking came to mind, and he’d do it happily. But Gidget’s job would suffer, and she might lose it altogether. He already dreaded telling her. “Well we’re in Shreveport. Holed up in the city. They won’t find us here.”

“Good. Send me the address later when you can. I’ll keep it safe, just so I know where my little girl is.”

  “Of course.”

  “They attacked Deke this morning.”

  Butch’s brows knit together. “What?”

“He was on an errand and they ambushed him. He escaped by the skin of his teeth. We gotta wrap this shit up, Butch, or it’s gonna keep getting worse.”

  “I wish I could help.”

“You’re helping more than anyone. You’re my savior, remember?” Geo’s laugh sounded tired through the phone. “We’re gonna target the president this week, and then his right hand man. The Skulls are fractured internally, and taking out those sons of bitches will be the only way forward. We’re biding our time.”

“I know you’ll do it right.”

“Keep my girl safe. You’ll hear from us soon.” Geo asked to talk to Gidget, and Butch handed the phone over. Gidget twirled a piece of hair between her fingers as she told her dad she loved him and she’d play it safe. When they hung up, the air hung tense between them.

“I heard what he said,” Gidget said, her voice flat.

  “What?”

“We’re gonna be here for a few weeks.” She frowned, picking at something on the bedspread. “I’m gonna lose my job.”

Butch’s belly twisted. “You gotta call her.”

“And say what?” Her voice came out shrill. “’Hey, I’m actually in a biker gang and I’m being hunted right now so I can’t come into work, I’ll let you know when you and everyone else in my life aren
’t in danger’? Yeah, right, Butch. You know better than that.”

He rubbed at the back of his neck. She was right. But he wanted to find a way to make it better. “Tell her you’re sick. Or you got into an accident.”

She gnawed at the inside of her cheek. “I don’t know. I need to think about it more.”

Silence flattened the air between them and Butch tried to shake off the somber mood of the phone call. He couldn’t imagine what was happening in Sturgis right now. And in a way, he was thankful to be where he was.

“Any plans for us tonight?” Gidget sighed, flopping backwards on the bed.

“Well I have some ideas, but it seems like you might need a break for a while.” He turned to her, grazing his fingertips over the V of her pussy. “I don’t want to hurt you.”

She laughed, and then groaned. “I am so sore from you. More than I thought was even possible.”

  “Is that a good thing?”

“It’s a great thing. I’ve never been this sexually satisfied in my life.” She curled into a ball next to him, resting her head in his lap. “Let’s have a lazy day, Buch. Let’s order pizza later and watch bad movies.”

He grinned, dragging his thumb along the curve of her jaw. A lazy day in bed with her sounded better than anything he could imagine, better than anything he could even ask for if a genie had shown up with a lamp and limitless wishes.

“Well I hope you like pineapple pizza and shitty eighties movies,” he said, kicking his boots off. “Because that’s what you’re getting now.”

  CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Gidget tested the grass before she let her white jeans touch the park lawn. She kneeled, peering through the lens of her camera, where Butch stood as a placeholder against a tree trunk.

“Good. Now hang on.” She adjusted a few settings on the camera and tripod, and then lined it up again. Even better. She stood, gesturing for them to trade spots. “Now take as many pictures as you can.”

Gidget smoothed her hair into place and gave herself a final once-over before leaning against the tree. She had a sheer blue top on over cropped white jeans, part of her Final Hurrah to Labor Day post she had planned for her blog. If anything, she’d use this time in Shreveport to cultivate her brand and keep her followers engaged. She didn’t post where she was, she’d found the most generic tree she could, and she’d turned off the geolocating on her phone, just in case the Skulls got crafty and followed her on social media. But being a target didn’t mean she couldn’t look good and build her brand.

Butch smiled as he took snapshots of her, his smile widening with every new pose. She knew how to work the camera, it was basically her second nature. But showing off for Butch was a special thrill. She liked roping him into her Instagram plans and blogging adventures.

Being in a new city had provided for plenty of unexpected adventures. Butch was eager to show her parts of the city that he loved, and each new part he showed her inspired a new photo shoot. After two weeks in Shreveport, their to-do list was steadily growing.

“Okay. Now, pick up the camera and take shots however you feel like.”

Butch hesitated, rubbing his thumb over the bulky knob on top. “You sure?”

She nodded. This was her chance to see herself how Butch saw her. “Just try it. There’s no way to do it wrong.” She paused. “Unless you cover the lens with your hand.”

He pushed to standing, holding the camera like it was something that had fallen out of the sky. But after a moment he must have rallied internally, because he stepped closer, bringing the camera up to his face.

“Here we go.” He took a few snapshots, paused, and then a few more. He swung out wide, nearly tripping over a hidden root. The camera went click-click-click as she laughed.

Butch lowered the camera slowly, looking down at it. “That was cool.”

  “First time taking pictures?”

He jerked his head into a nod, coming closer. She pressed herself against the tree, batting her eyes at him.

“Well you seem like a natural at it.” She grabbed her camera, scrolling through the pictures he’d just taken. One or two weren’t centered how she liked, and one was even blurry, but the rest were…magnificent. Especially when he’d caught her laughing.

“Wow.” She squinted at the small screen, zooming in. “Butch, this is great.”

He shrugged, stuffing his hands into his pockets.

She smiled up at him, relishing the hot breeze making her top lift up a bit. “I might use this as my new profile picture.”

His eyes lit up, but he regained his cool a moment later. “Really?”

She nodded, studying it a moment longer. “Yeah. I’ll bring it up in my photo editor later and have a closer look, but it seems perfect to me.”

He nodded. “Good. Glad I can help.”

She stuffed the camera back in its case and swung the bag over her shoulder. “So. Where else are we off to today?”

Butch slung his arm over her shoulders, pulling her in tight. They’d been fucking and flirting and having fun for two weeks, but it felt like an eternity, like this was the most natural state she’d ever known. She’d thought holing up with someone in a tiny motel room would feel claustrophobic after only a few days. Especially with sharing the same bed. But she only wanted more of him. Was desperate for more of him, really.

“I got this one place you should see,” he said, his southern drawl more pronounced ever since they’d come to Shreveport. “It’s not too far.”

They wound down the path, past geese and tiny bridges crossing ponds, and headed for the bike. Dusk was approaching—Gidget had wanted to capitalize on the golden hours of the evening for today’s photo shoot—and the looming night air made her giddy.

“Let’s get on it.” She settled into place behind Buch on the bike, wrapping her arms around him. She sighed a little as she did. Would this feeling ever get old? It had only been a couple weeks but this thing with Butch, whatever it was, seemed like it had a long life-span ahead of it. Sure, it was fucked that they were hiding out and on the run, technically, but there was something deeper and truer than all that, pulsing steady between them.

Something told her Butch felt it too, even though they hadn’t talked about anything of the sort. She was too damn afraid to bring it up, too. Because what would she say? Sometimes she imagined the conversations in the shower while she scrubbed at her face. Butch, what would you say we have between us? The question alone made her laugh. They had a shitty circumstance between them, that’s all it was. And she could hear the sarcasm in his response every time she imagined it.

Besides, she knew Butch would insist they drop this, whatever it was, as soon as they headed back to Sturgis. He wouldn’t be into the idea of showing back up at the clubhouse with a romance, especially with the president’s daughter. That much was clear. So it seemed whatever they had would just be for now. For this blip in time, the firework burst of passion that lived and died in Shreveport.

  Couldn’t that be enough?

Gidget buried her face in the back of his shirt as they zoomed along, feeling sadness claw at her. God, her period was probably gonna start. Getting emotional about something like this was not in her standard repertoire. But Butch is different…

The thought repeated like a mantra in her head. Butch was different, which made everything so much more complicated. He had walls that towered like skyscrapers, and any attempt to climb them made him lock up like a prison guard. Certain questions about his childhood went chronically unanswered. The more he showed her around town, the more she could put together on her own. But so many holes remained. The only thing she knew for sure was that Butch came from sadness.

And I can help you be happy. Like we have been here. Like we will be together.

She sighed into his back, willing the thoughts away. They were dumb, unhelpful thoughts that would only muddy everything. She needed to remember that, too. Besides, what was she hoping for with Butch anyway? Sometimes she felt like Shreveport
was a dream world. A fantasy oasis they were living in for a few weeks while everything in the real world took shape and congealed back into its normal form. And then they’d return, and be forced to continue doing what they knew best: Butch being aloof and alone, and Gidget living up her twenties in all the ways she knew best.

By the time they pulled into the entrance of what looked like a nature preserve, Gidget felt exhausted from all the roiling emotions. She stumbled off the bike, gripping onto Butch’s arm to steady herself.
