Sobs overtook her then as she all but crumpled into Ezra’s arms. Her three men surrounded her as they brought her back into the cabin. Ezra took her to the bedroom, laid her on the bed, and crouched beside her.

Dar moved to sit on the bed. “Lillian, you must understand that none of us had any idea we carried the virus to Earth. We knew we had many biological similarities with humans. That is why we can become life mates—our reproductive systems are virtually identical. But we didn’t know the human race was so completely compatible to our own DNA that the virus could continue its destruction. We didn’t realize that those of us who survived or were immune could still infect your population.”

  God, she’d been so stupid.

“Of course you didn’t.” None of her men were capable of such a crime. The love, acceptance and freedom she’d been denied by her own race had been granted by the three men who surrounded her, their faces drawn with concern. “Don’t leave me. Please,” she whispered.

She turned to Ezra and Maddox. “Please, stay. I need all of you. I know that now.”

It mightn’t make any sense at all in her old life, but in her new life these three men were her life. Her world. Her everything.

She half sat. “I…I want to go home.”

Off this terrible bed that smelled dirty and musty. Back to the soft, clean-smelling caltronian fur, with her men. Her husbands.

Maddox came to stand beside her. He pressed a finger to her lips. “No more. No blame. No forgiveness. We move on, we nurture. We love, not hate.”

“Yes.” She clasped her hands. “You’re right.”

Ezra ran a thumb along her jaw. “Let’s go home, hmm?”

  Her smile wobbled. “Yes. Please.”

She stood and Ezra moved fluidly upright too. As Dar retrieved her glittering wedding dress, Ezra began unbuttoning her borrowed shirt. “Let’s get you back into that dress, my Lillian.”

She let out a little sigh. “My name is Margaret. Queen Margaret Lisbeth Chantelle Belgrave. But then, all three of you knew that, didn’t you?”

Ezra’s voice cracked, “Lillian—Margaret—you have to understand. Telling you anything from your past would have been harmful to your mental well-being. Revealing your name, anything you’re not ready to hear, is not a good idea. We’ve seen the disastrous effects—”

“And me being royalty had no effect on your desire to have me as your queen?” she asked them.

Dar sat beside her, dress in hand. “We picked up your televised image. You were a much-loved princess. It didn’t matter to us. We knew immediately you were our life mate. Trans-alien hypersensitivity touched us metaphysically, even with the millions of miles that separated you from us.”

She looked at her three men. Love filled her. “You know what. I think the name Lillian has grown on me.”
