by David McKnight

Q: How do I know that the company who holds my LIRP is going to continue existing in the future?

A: You don’t, which is why it’s so important to look at a company’s financial ratings. This is the best barometer of the financial solvency of a life insurance company.

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Over the last four years, tens of thousands of financial advisors from across the country have embraced the message of this book and sounded the warning cry to their clients. Without their advocacy, many Americans would still be sitting on the train tracks, bracing for the impact of higher taxes. Their enthusiasm for this book helped turn the Power of Zero movement into a revolution.

A heartfelt thanks to the many forward-thinking pioneers whose shoulders I’ve stood on, and whose thoughts and ideas permeate these pages. Special thanks go to the Honorable David M. Walker, Ed Slott, Van Mueller, Tom Hegna, Laurence Kotlikoff, Bob Ritter, and Dick Mack.

A special thanks to my super-agent Howard Yoon, without whose persistence and outside-the-box thinking this revised edition could not have been published. I came to him with an impossible list of demands, and he made them all happen. Every one of them.

Thanks as well to my editor, Derek Reed, at Penguin Random House, whose keen eye for details made this updated edition seamless and polished.

I’d also like to thank filmmaker Doug Orchard, whose directorial skill brought this book to life in documentary form. Look for the release of the movie The Power of Zero in September of 2018.

Above all, thanks to my beautiful wife, Felice, who has stood faithfully by my side for the last eighteen years. She does the far more important work of raising our seven children and making our house into a home. Without her in my life, none of this would be worth it. She has my abiding love and gratitude.
