  Knee Joint - Idlers 0/99, Friction - 0/100, Toughness - 0/100

  Shoulder Joint - Idlers 0/99, Friction - 0/100, Toughness - 0/100

  Ankle Joint - Idlers 0/99, Friction - 0/100, Toughness - 0/100

  Elbow Joint:

Friction: Smoothing everything in the Elbow Joint so you can open and close the elbow much smoother and at max level will never suffer from arthritis, stiffness or anything else that is harmful to the user's elbows.

Toughness: Increasing the durability of the Elbows, while keeping the flexibility and does not affect the speed of movement in any way.

Bonus for maxing all skill levels: The three different joints in the elbow, all work as one, this increases the fluidity and speed of all three joints working together.

  Toughness Level 10 = 10 points, Level 25 = 40 points, Level 50 = 75 points, Level 100 = 150

  Knee Joint:

Friction: Smoothing everything in the Knee Joints so you can open and close the knee much smoother and at max level will never suffer from arthritis, stiffness or anything else that is harmful to the user's knees.

Toughness: Increasing the durability of the knees, while keeping the flexibility and does not affect the speed of movement in any way.

Bonus for maxing all skill levels: You'll never be forced to kneel.

  Toughness Level 10 = 10 points, Level 25 = 40 points, Level 50 = 75 points, Level 100 = 150

  Shoulder Joint:

Friction: Smoothing everything in the Shoulder Joints so you can move the arms much smoother and at max level will never suffer from arthritis, stiffness or anything else that is harmful to the user's shoulders.

Toughness: Increasing the durability of the shoulders, while keeping the flexibility and does not affect the speed of movement in any way.

Bonus for maxing all skill levels: When punching power lands on your target, the shoulders take the recoil. This skill will make sure the recoil never damages the joints.

  Toughness Level 10 = 10 points, Level 25 = 40 points, Level 50 = 75 points, Level 100 = 150

  Ankle Joint:

Friction: Smoothing everything in the Ankle Joints so you can move the feet much smoother and at max level will never suffer from arthritis, stiffness or anything else that is harmful to the user's ankles.

Toughness: Increasing the durability of the ankles, while keeping the flexibility and does not affect the speed of movement in any way.

Bonus for maxing all skill levels: Will be able to push off, reaching maximum speed much faster. Will also be able to stop more quickly by digging the heels in using the ankles for support.

  Toughness Level 10 = 10 points, Level 25 = 25 points, Level 50 = 50 points, Level 100 = 100

So, the Idle System got idle again with its descriptions. Hey, how come the ankle's defence point total is lower than the other three? Isn't that discrimination against ankles? John wanted more points in defence, but would wind up getting less for the same level with ankles alone.

Okay, so I've got a plan. I'll get to Level 25 in each of these, which should get me 145 extra points in Defence. That will bring me to G Rank and only 35 Points away from F Rank.

At the start, I wanted to get my Maximum Idlers skill and Maximum Workers skill up, but I have to get stronger to survive in order to use them. Levelling those up is like stagnating my strength growth, though. I will have to wait longer to fight stronger monsters doing this...

Doing this plan, though, I can get the skills I need to become stronger much faster. Then I can kill stronger monsters at an even faster rate and use the time to level my Maximum Idlers and Maximum Workers up.

I need to be highly active to outweigh any cons.

But I need to get Max Idlers up a little first. Otherwise, no matter how strong I get or how much Time I gather, it won’t be worth it in the long run.

That's when John saw the Time Pool. It read 4mo 3d 6h 20m. He’d forgotten to use the time he had accumulated from his wolf hunt. And so, John quickly finished Resistance's skill Elemental, and it disappeared.

  ‘Ding!’

Congratulations for completing all add-on skills while updating the system. To celebrate, we have given you a onetime gift of 5 skill points to place anywhere you choose.

Congratulations for getting your first Rank G monster kill with the system in place! We have given you a reward of 1 skill point to place anywhere you choose.

Congratulations for getting your first Rank F monster kill with the system in place! We have given you a reward of 1 skill point to place anywhere you choose.

Congratulations for getting your first rank E monster kill with the system in place! We have given you a reward of 1 skill point to place anywhere you choose.

Nice, eight skill points all at once. But I see how it is now. The Idle system is getting idler, while I’m the one who has to work even harder!!

Elemental finished levelling. He put one Idler into each Joint skill’s toughness, hoping it didn't level up too quickly. John remembered the pain from levelling the attack list's skills too rapidly, and did not want a repeat of that.

John kept the Continue option off, while putting Idlers in every time the joint's skills levelled up. All eight of his brand-new skill points went right into Maximum Idlers, and an hour later he put all fifty-seven of his Idlers into Elbow Joint. He raised the skill up to Level 25.

He used some time from the Time Pool and levelled the skill up to his goal. After, he did the same with the Knee, Shoulder and Ankle joint skills. That had only cost him five days’ worth in Time Pool, so he decided to put the rest of his time into the Blood Capacity skill, along with five of his Idlers.

The rest of the Idlers went back into Maximum Idlers. He turned the Continue option on and checked his stats before closing the system.

John moved his arms in circles, opening and closing his elbows and knees. One by one he turned his ankles, and they all popped. He thought he could feel a difference, but it wasn't to such a significant degree of change that he could be entirely sure.

John did notice his HP had risen by 100 Points, though. Reaching Level 25 in each of the joint skills must have done that.

Satisfied and prepared, John walked to the town entrance. As soon as he passed the city gate, he broke into a sprint in the southeast direction.

He noticed that on the world map, the closer he was to the centre, the stronger the monsters were. Newbie Town was northwest of Rocky Town, and the lowest Rank H creatures were northwest of Newbie town. The difference between the two areas was existence of ‘beasts’. These were just large creatures that did not have any chance of forming a monster core. Humans hunted monsters for cores to keep their technology running, but beasts were only a hindrance to them.

The higher the rank of the creatures, the more chance it had of forming a monster core. That's why Alan, Peter, and Cyril hadn’t noticed when the system had taken the core from their first kill together. They merely assum
ed the bear didn't have one from the start.

That was also why most quests Rank E and above requested that the heads of the beasts remained intact. This way, they had a chance to get the monster cores.

At rank B, the monsters have roughly an 80% chance of forming a monster core. Rank A, 85% chance. Rank S, 90% chance. Rank SS, 95% chance and SSS is 100% guaranteed a monster core of the highest quality. There are only three quality monster cores, but I don't know their differences yet, only the names which are lowest, average and highest quality.

The four kingdoms’ capitals were near the immortal areas. The only areas between the Capital's and the Immortal sects were full of SSS ranked monsters. Inside the capital were Rank SSS adventurers who kept the monsters in their area at bay. It was a type of ceasefire agreement, the rest of humanity fighting the lower rank monsters further away from the centre of the world.

After an hour of running, John made it to Area 1334 in his system. He scanned it to look for the Yellow Striped Lions. He needed to kill two hundred to get to rank C, but this quest alone would land him a total of £5 million. After that, he ‘only’ needed £470 million to go before reaching his goal.

He didn't want to waste any time.

  Chapter 29

  B Rank Hunt

  Scanning Complete:

Yellow Striped Tiger count - 39,294.

  Neutral Targets: 5,346,925.

  Buried Treasure: 24

  ???: 8

Less of the targets this time, and they're spread out too. It will take longer to kill two hundred of them. Maybe I should get the buried treasure and the ‘???’ item first. They're only a few miles away.

Making up his mind, John went towards the ‘???’ symbol on the map first since it was closer. When he got to the location, it was a small glowing green rock again. The buried treasure was a blank rune too, but he used analyser on it this time and saw it was glowing purple. An Epic rank! It was worth about a £10 million on its own.

He checked the other sixteen in his storage; he didn't know what they were when he first got them. He tallied up six Normal, five Rare, two Epic, two Legendary, and one Mythical.

John was stunned. They were buried at the weakest part of the whole world! How did a Mythical blank rune, worth about £80 million on its own, get there!? The two Legendary were worth £80 million together, and now he had three Epics' worth of money. That was approximately £30 million! Rare and Normal were basically worth less than £500 each. The prices really steepen after Rare.

With these blank runes and the £5 million he's going to get of this quest, he would have £195 million. He would then only need a remainder of £380!

ONLY £380 million. Wonder what people spend all this money on besides equipment? How much is a house in the capital? Don't tell me it cost like £2 million for a loaf of bread there.

John took his boots off and entered his stealth mode again. Twelve hours later, he was killing his last Lion. Although the others had gone hitch-free, this one discovered him before he could get the kill. Suddenly, they were in a life and death battle that lasted a few minutes. Dodging each other's attacks, the fight lasted until the tiger swung its tail towards John—a fatal mistake.

John grabbed onto the tail, turned his back to the lion, and used all of his strength to pull! The lion was lifted off the ground and into the air. It was launched over John's head and then was smashed into the ground in front of him, creating a small hole in the floor. The creature was dead.

The lion’s corpse was utterly in shambles, and there was no way John could use it to complete the quest. With a sign, John went on to investigate the buried treasure nearby that he’d been aiming for. He picked it up. Normal.

A few hours later, John was back in the Guild Hall. He’d earned £5 million from the quest. After selling all the runes, he also received a whopping £190 million. In addition, he now sat at Rank C.

He picked up a quest to kill twenty Goblins. He needed to do it thirty times, which meant six hundred goblins in total. Just like in the novels he used to read, he needed to harvest the ears from the goblins. Because they have no chance of developing monster cores, goblins were classed as beasts. He couldn’t earn much money from Goblins, but this quest was the fastest way to reach rank B.

Just as he was rushing to leave the Guild Hall, he bumped into a man. The man went flying while John was pushed back a step.

"Sorry, you alright?" John immediately apologised, suspecting the man of foul play. John thought he could have been one of those, ‘I'm injured, pay for medical treatment’ scams, but even he did not expect the man to go flying. The first thing John did was make sure both bags were still tied to his trousers, which, they were. John sighed in relief.

"What the hell man, you should look where you're going! I'm..." The man shouted after he managed to get up, but he was interrupted by John.

“—injured and you want me to pay the medical fees, right? Sure you can have them, but you need to let me examine you myself. Don't worry, I'm a doctor." John smiled a little evilly at the man as he spoke.

"No, no, no, it's fine. I was going to say that I'm fine and that you don't have to worry about me!" The man saw the smile on John's face and paled in horror.

"You sure? Okay, then watch where you're going next time." John walked away quickly, not giving the man any time to change his mind.

As soon as John stepped outside the building, he wiped the sweat of his brow. Thank god I intimidated him, normally there's a big boss behind a small guy like that.

Wrapping up in town, he headed southeast at a hurried pace. Goblins lived underground, so his Night Vision skill was about to come in handy.

There were a few more variants of goblins this time, but John killed them all with no favouritism. Two days later, John was promoted to B class.

  Quest: Kill and skin Werewolves.

  Rank: B.

  Location: Area 451.

  Reward: £230,000 For each Hide.

  Bonus: £50,000 per monster core.

Bonus: £25,000 for the two most prominent teeth per werewolf.

John read the description. The two teeth were going to be used as decorative jewellery, though he didn't know who would spend so much for showing teeth around. Who was he to judge? If he got lucky with the monster core, then that could be £305,000 per werewolf. Unlike in the fairy tales, these were not transformed humans, but they did stand up on two legs when walking. They went back to all four when running.

John had to be careful on this trip. These are pack animals and were extraordinarily fast. They could smell humans from miles away, and they had great hearing and eyesight. Sneaking in wouldn't work.

The area numbers get lower as you headed toward the centre of the world. The lower numbers meant higher risk, and this number was almost three times smaller than on his previous quest.

John checked the Time Pool. Killing six hundred goblins had given him 2mo 19d total time to add anywhere he wanted. Each of these werewolves was going to provide him with three hours of time too. Deciding, he put all the time into levelling his Blood Capacity skill. It went from Level 42 to Level 44. He took the Continue option off to wait for Maximum Idlers to complete.

He had about two months and ten days left to wait for the Gloves. John was going to spend all that time hunting werewolves to earn the rest of the money. To earn money without counting on the lucky monster core part, he had to kill 1,491 werewolves. But if he found any of the buried treasures, and if they turned out to be better than Rare, then that number would drop. It wasn’t as bad as it sounded; he had to kill twenty-four per day, at the very least.

The werewolves' area was further South than the goblin area. A day of travelling passed, and he arrived at the designated location. He asked the system to scan the area.

  Scanning Complete:

  Werewolves count - 182,686.

  Neutral Targets: 5,260,466.

  Buried Treasure: 1

  ???: 15

Not so lucky with the buried
treasure this time, he still didn't know what the small glowing green rocks were or what they were for. The system didn't tell you anything until after you learned the information yourself.

John found the smallest cluster of wolves close by. There were three creatures. John took a deep breath. This was going to be hard at first until he got used to their movement and agility. The werewolves had noticed John a while back. He approached them cautiously and used the Analyser skill.

  Werewolf A:

  Attack: 690

  Defence: 510

  Werewolf B:

  Attack: 660

  Defence: 500

  Werewolf C:

  Attack: 600

  Defence: 450

I guess Werewolf A is the alpha in this group. John charged towards Werewolf C, and it attacked by lunging at John with sharp, gnarled teeth. John dodged backwards and the mouth missed him by mere inches. As it missed, John made an uppercut motion. He used Crush Grip on the creature’s throat, and then charged at Werewolf B.

The smell of the werewolves gaping mouth almost made John puke, even in the midst of battle. Even the goblins' lair wasn't THIS bad. What the hell do they eat?

Werewolf B used its claws as it swung down its left paw. John sidestepped to his right, and grabbed its left claw. He pulled it down to his left side, lowering the werewolf's head. Then he used a right straight at the monster’s temples, knocking it out.

Before the alpha could intervene to save its comrade, John used Crush Grip on the falling werewolf's neck. Now, there’s only the alpha to go

  .

  Chapter 30

  Surprise Gift

When the alpha saw that John had killed both its pack members, it grew visibly angry but didn’t make any moves. It just stood there on all fours, bearing its teeth at John.

No wonder it's an Alpha. Even though it's pissed off at me, it's still calm enough not to charge in blindly. Man… I was hoping it wasn't that smart.

Before John could do anything, the werewolf turned around and fled. At full speed in a straight path, it was quicker than John. After mere matter of seconds, he lost sight of it. To make sure it wasn't playing any tricks, John continued to follow its path with Life Vision turned on.
