“Me too,” I whispered. “Will you let me ride you bareback?”

  “You on the pill?”

  I kissed his neck. “IUD.”

“Have at it,” he said, and I grinned against his skin, sucking gently before moving to his mouth.

“I don’t want you to move,” I said.

  “At all?”

  “At all,” I stressed.

He stretched his arms out, palms to the sheets, and smiled. “I’m at your command.”

I lifted slightly, guiding his cock to my entrance, lowering myself slowly and taking him to the hilt. His quiet hiss indicated I’d done exactly what he wanted, and I leaned down to kiss him. “I absolutely, beyond reason, love your dick.”

His tongue slid between the seam of my lips and he grinned. “It loves you back.”

He lifted his knees and settled them against my back.

“Did I tell you to move?” I growled.

  “Just gettin’ ready to assist.”

“Hush.” I settled my finger to his mouth, and he sucked it inside.

I pulled it out, leaning down to kiss him again, lifting my hips until his dick almost slipped out. Just as I felt the tip, I lowered, my tongue dipping into Shadow’s mouth as his cock was buried deep.

Raising up, I placed my palms on his chest and moved, riding him slowly at first, then harder and harder until he flipped me onto my back and slammed into me again and again.

I would have admonished him for moving, but considering the fact a climax was building and building fast, I gave him a pass.

  “Get ready, Posey,” he warned.

I slid my fingers into his hair and gripped his scalp. “I’m close.”

He slipped his hand between us and fingered my clit, and I came apart, screaming his name as I came. He pumped twice more and grunted, dropping his face to my neck and I felt his dick pulse inside of me.

  “Jesus, fuck,” he hissed.

  I chuckled. “Giddy.”

He lifted his head with a grin. “So fuckin’ giddy.”

Shadow kissed me, then slid gently out, stepping off the bed. “Stay put, I’ll be right back.”

I stretched like a well-fed cat, the glow of my orgasms thrumming through my body. Shadow walked back to the bed and settled a warm washcloth between my legs, stretching out beside me again.

“You can wake me like that anytime,” I said, rolling into him and kissing his chest.

He kissed the top of my head and wrapped an arm around me. “Noted.”

  “I like you ungloved, honey.”

“Believe me, I like it, too.”

“You really got tested?” I asked.

“Yeah. Knew this was goin’ long-term, so I planned ahead.”

I settled my chin on his chest. “It’s going long-term, huh?”

“Baby, the second my dick was in your pussy, I was gone. So, yeah, long-term.” He ran his thumb over my bottom lip. “You good with that?”

“Yeah, absolutely. You have full pussy rights.”

“Pussy rights?” He chuckled. “Like land rights?”

  “Sure,” I said.

“Do you know what land rights are… legally?”

“Not verbatim,” I admitted, rolling and snagging my phone off the nightstand. “Let me look it up.”

Shadow groaned, sliding his hand over my belly. “Or we can fuck again.”

“Wait,” I bossed, thumbing ‘land rights’ into my search bar. “Got it. Ready?”

“I’m losing my breath with anticipation,” he droned, kissing my side.

“Your inalienable right to freely obtain, use, and possess my pussy at your discretion, as long as your activities on that pussy do not impede on my rights.” Of course, I edited the real definition as I read.

His hand slid between my legs. “Full rights to the bush?”

  “Absolutely.”

“There could be claim jumpers trying to get back to the cave,” he retorted, sliding his hand backward.

I pulled it away with a laugh. “Nice try.”

“You think you can do a handstand?”

“Now?” I asked, setting my phone back on the nightstand.

  “Yeah.”

I shrugged, sliding off the bed.

“Do it on the bed,” he said, sitting up.

  “Why?”

  “Humor me.”

I rolled my eyes and stood on the bed. “Catch me if I start to fall.”

  “Oh, I plan to.”

I took a deep breath, then did a perfect, though wobbly on the soft bed, handstand. Shadow wrapped his arms around my waist and ran his tongue over my clit. I let out a quiet squeak, losing my balance briefly but he held me tight.

  “Spread, Posey.”

I spread and he covered my clit with his mouth, sucking gently. I discovered my mouth was at the optimum level to take him as well, so I ran my tongue over the tip of his dick, then sucked it into my mouth.

“Jesus,” he hissed, and I grinned.

“Don’t stop,” I mumbled, my mouth full of goodness.

I can’t say it was easy to stay in a handstand while being eaten out, but it was fun. And it was especially fun being at the perfect height to blow Shadow.

“If you don’t want a mouth full, baby, you’re gonna need to let go.”

I wrapped my arms around his waist in answer, taking him deeper down my throat. He couldn’t really move his hips in this position without jostling me, so he was my captive, even if it was for a short time.

Shadow focused back on my pussy, slipping two fingers into me as his mouth worked my clit. I felt his legs lock and I knew he was ready. His tongued lapped at me as he finger fucked my pussy and I whimpered as an orgasm rolled gently through me.

“Now, baby,” he warned, and he came. I milked him dry, as I came down from my climax, then I set my hands back on the bed and Shadow let me go so I could sit up.

  “Wow,” I breathed out.

  “More giddy?”

  “Hell, yeah, more giddy.”

Shadow chuckled. “We’re gonna do that again.”

  “Yes, we most definitely are.”

He leaned over and kissed me. “You hungry?”

“It’s four o’clock in the morning.”

  “You didn’t answer my question.”

  I shrugged. “I could eat.”

He grinned. “Let’s see what you’ve got in the fridge.”

He pulled on his boxer briefs while I slipped on a robe, then I followed him out to my new kitchen where he made me an omelet before taking me back to bed. I fell asleep against him sated on every level.

  CHAPTER FIFTEEN

  Posey

“TIME TO WAKE up,” Shadow whispered, kissing my shoulder.

“No,” I said with a groan, pulling the covers back up my body.

“We’re chasing the sunrise, baby. It’ll be worth it, I promise.”

“If it’s not, do you promise never to wake me this early again?”

“No.” He smacked my bottom. “Wear jeans and do your hair in a way that’ll accommodate a helmet.”

  “We’re riding?”

  “Yep. Up.”

The bed jostled as he stood and pulled the covers off me again, kissing my cheek, then leaving the room, and I forced myself out of bed and took a quick shower, dressing in layers for warmth, and dragging my knee-high boots out of a box at the back of my closet. I pulled my hair into a low ponytail, then met Shadow in the kitchen.

“You look gorgeous,” he said, kissing me gently.

  “Thanks, honey.”

“Coffee,” he said, handing me a mug. “Are you hungry?”

  “Always.”

He chuckled and handed me a granola bar. “We’ll eat when we get where we’re going.”

  “Where are we going?”

“Surprise,” he said, kissing my nose.

“How long’s it going to take us to get there?”

  “Pee before we go.”

I let out a groan. “Nothing?
You’re giving me nothing?”

Shadow chuckled. “It’ll be worth it.”

I sighed and finished my coffee and granola bar, then brushed my teeth.

“Did you pee?” he asked when I joined him at the front door.

“Yes. What should I do with my purse?”

“We’ll stow it.” He helped me into his leather jacket, despite the fact it was three sizes too big. “Come on.”

We locked up the house and Shadow led me to his bike.

“Need me to run through some safety points?” he asked, dropping my purse into a saddlebag and handing me a helmet.

“Nope. I actually took lessons a few years back.”

  “No shit?”

  I nodded. “No shit.”

  “You can ride?”

I laughed. “Oh, no, I totally suck, but I’m a pretty good passenger.”

“You obviously had a shit teacher,” he said, throwing his leg over and waiting for me to climb on behind him.

“This jacket is way too big.”

“Do you have one that fits?”

“You didn’t think to ask me that when we were in the house?”

He raised an eyebrow. “Do you?”

“No,” I grumbled, and he smiled.

“Then you’re in mine. We’ll get you something that fits this week.”

  “What about you?”

He wore a denim jacket with his club leather vest over it. “I’m good, baby. Got my cut.”

  “You got cut?”

He chuckled and pointed at his vest. “My cut.”

“Oh, it’s called a cut?” I asked, throwing my leg over the bike and settling behind him.

“Yeah,” he said. “I don’t have a walkie system in the helmets, so if you need to stop, tap my shoulder and we’ll pull over, okay?”

“Okay,” I said, then lowered the visor.

He put on his helmet, then started the bike and we were off.

It took several minutes before I realized where we were heading and I let out a quiet squeal.

  Tybee Island.

I love, love, love the beach. I always had.

I gave him a squeeze as we stopped at a stoplight and he settled his hand over one of my arms around his waist.

“I’m so excited,” I yelled, and Shadow nodded.

I couldn’t see his face, but I imagined him smiling.

The light turned green and Shadow took off again, driving the bike so expertly, I almost fell asleep I was so relaxed.

We arrived at the beach and I could smell the sea air, and a little eau de dead fish, as he turned off the bike. I set my hands on his shoulders and swung off, removing my helmet as he did the same. He took them and locked them in a special box on the back of his bike before running his hands through his hair and resecuring it with a ponytail holder.

  “I love Tybee.”

He chuckled. “Well, if you didn’t, I wouldn’t wanna know you.”

“You know, if I’d known we were coming to the beach, I would have brought shorts and flipflops.”

“I’m a step ahead of you,” he said, opening a saddlebag and pulling out one of my favorite maxi skirts and a pair of shorts. “Figured you could wear either, but either way, you could use the skirt to hide pulling off your jeans.”

I grabbed his cut and leaned on my tiptoes to kiss him. “You’re a genius.”

“Tell me something I don’t know.”

I rolled my eyes, bending down to take off my boots and socks, then his leather jacket. I pulled my skirt on over my jeans, then Shadow helped shade me as I used the skirt for cover.

In the end, I kept the skirt and decided against the shorts. Shadow had grabbed a pair of my flipflops, so I stepped into them, grabbed my purse, and waited for him to secure everything in his saddlebags.

“You warm enough in what you’re wearin’?” he asked.

  “I’m great, honey.”

He grinned, kissing me gently, then taking my hand.

For the next three hours, we were tourists, pretending everything was unfamiliar and new to us. Some of it literally was for me, considering I’d been raised by a single mother who worked long hours, so a trip to Tybee Island was well out of her budget.

I’d gone with my high school junior class the summer before senior year, but again, I’d had to stretch my money, so I was limited on how much I could do. Today, however, we tried everything, including buying a little trinket from almost every shop within walking distance, and grabbing fresh seafood any time we were hungry. We walked on the beach and I reveled in my toes in the sand. Shadow removed his boots and rolled up his jeans, lifting me and carrying me to the edge of the water.

“Don’t you dare drop me,” I warned.

He grinned. “I would never, ever do that,” he said, as he released his hold on me slightly.

I squealed and held on tighter and he rolled me back to his chest. I cupped his face and kissed him, and he carried me away from the waves, setting me back on my feet so he could finish the kiss.

  It was magical.

“If we’re going to make sunset, we need to get back,” Shadow said.

“We can watch the sunset here, right?”

He slid his hands around my waist and squeezed. “I think it’ll be better at the lighthouse.”

I gasped. “Oh my god, why didn’t you say so?” I grabbed his hand and tugged. “Come on.”

He laughed and snagged his boots off the sand as we made our way back to the bike. Once we were leathered and jeaned up again, Shadow drove us to the lighthouse. He’d prepped with blankets, waters, and snacks, so we watched the sunset wrapped together.

“I’d love to hear about Cleveland, if you feel like telling me,” I said.

I was currently sitting between his thighs, my back to his front, leaning my head back against his chest.

He was quiet for a few minutes and I forced myself not to fill up the silence. It was hard, because my way of making people feel better was to give pep talks. But I knew he was choosing his words, so I held my breath and waited.

“Dad was an alcoholic. Severe. He was a good man, but he just couldn’t quite get hold of those demons. And my grandparents were the king and queen of sweeping shit under the rug. Don’t get me wrong, I loved them the way kids should love their grandparents, but when you’re nine, you don’t fully grasp that giant bottles of Jack might not be an appropriate gift when someone’s trying to quit drinking.”

I bit my lip and nodded.

“Grandad was in his eighties, and Gran was pushing eighty herself, when they asked my dad to drive them to some appointment. They never made it. Dad was so wasted, he crossed the freeway median and was hit head-on by a semi. He was dead on impact, but my grandparents were apparently alive. Until a woman in a minivan slammed into them from the side.”

  I gasped. “Oh my god.”

“So, I lost my dad and grandparents all in one day, and my mom lost her mind. That was our only family, other than my great-aunt, Trudy, in Savannah. We moved down here when I was twelve and Cat was ten to live with Trudy, but she died when I was seventeen, and by then I was already raising hell. Doom caught me breaking in to one of his dad’s renos and instead of turning me in, he put me to work.”

“Wow,” I breathed out. “He’s a good man.”

“He’s a fuckin’ great man,” Shadow said. “Mom thought the sun shone out of his ass until she lost her battle with breast cancer about six years ago.”

Tears leaked down my face. “You’ve lost everyone?”

“Not everyone,” he said, kissing my temple. “I have Cat. I have you, and I have my brothers.”

  I nodded.

“Baby, I’m good. I know this is a sad story, but I do believe everything happens for a reason, and yes, I lost my parents in horrible ways, but I was never alone.”

I shifted and cupped his face. “I think you might be the best human I’ve ever known.”

He chuckled. “Wow, I’ve got you fooled.”

“Thank you for sharing that story with me, Nolan.”

“You’re welcome,” he said, kissing me gently before I settled back between his legs and stared out at the water.

“I never want to leave,” I whispered as he gave me a gentle squeeze.

“We could always sleep here,” Shadow said.

“Alas, I am neither a camper nor a glamper. I have to have a real bed.”

“Let’s get you back to that real bed, then. We’ll come back.”

  “Promise?”

“Yeah, baby, promise. We’ll book a weekend.”

I shifted so I was kneeling facing him. “I would love that.”

He stroked the apple of my cheek. “Do you know how beautiful you are?”

“Not as beautiful as you,” I whispered.

He smiled, pulling me forward to kiss him. “Bullshit.”

“Thank you for today, Nolan. It was the best day I’ve ever had.”

“Me too, baby. And you’re welcome.”

I kissed him again, then we headed back to his bike. By the time we crawled into bed, I could barely keep my eyes open, rolling into his side as sleep took me.

  Shadow

My phone buzzing on Posey’s nightstand pulled me out of a dreamless sleep. It was a 9-1-1 text from dispatch, so I called immediately.

“This is Nolan Grant,” I said and rattled off my station numbers.

  “Hi, big brother.”

  “Hey, Cat, what’s goin’ on?”

“Four-alarm at the Bowery. They need all hands on deck. I’ve called Doom.”

“Shit,” I breathed out. “I’ll be there in ten.”

  “I’ll let your captain know.”

I hung up, pulled on my station uniform which I kept with me at all times, then grabbed my keys just as Posey padded out from the bedroom. “What’s going on?”

“Fire, honey, I’ve been called up.”

She pulled me in for a hug. “Be safe.”

“I will. I’ll call you as soon as I can.”

  “Okay.”

I headed to the station, kitted up, then a group of us took one of the smaller trucks to the site. Pulling up to the building, the whole thing was forty percent engulfed, so I rushed to my captain for orders.

“Go with Marxx and do a sweep. Start at the penthouse.”

“On it,” I said, and found Doom helping an old woman into a chair on the grass.
