  “What y’all doing?” I asked.

“Come here, nigga,” my pops said.

“Get his ass, pops!” Moni laughed.

I walked over to him and without so much as a warning, he socked the shit out of me in my jaw. For a split second, I almost forgot his ass was my dad and was about to swing back on his ass.

“Fuck was that for?” I asked, rubbing my jaw to make sure he didn’t break the bitch.

“I did that because Tahani refuses to do it and Tahti is pregnant so she can’t do it, otherwise I know she would. Moni, bring your ass here while you over there laughing,” Alpha barked.

“What? What the fuck I do?” Moni asked.

“Don’t look scared now, nigga,” Keylin laughed.

“Hell nah, I’m a grown ass man. You not about to pull this shit like we’re sixteen and seventeen years old and shit,” Moni fussed.

“Nigga, get your bitch ass over here and see what this man want,” I yelled.

Shit, I was pissed off and my damn jaw hurt. I wasn’t about to be the only one down here getting disciplined over some bullshit. If DeMoni was about to get put on his ass too then he needed to stop acting like a bitch and take that shit like a man.

“Don’t make me ask you again,” Alpha warned him.

Knowing our pops had a few screws loose, Moni got his ass up and got the same treatment I did.

“Let me find out you put your hands on Tahtiana again, especially while she pregnant and I’ll kill your ignorant ass,” Alpha told his oldest son.

“Nigga, you didn’t,” I said as I shoved Moni.

This was the first time I was hearing this shit. Moni be so quick to open his mouth about everything else, I wonder why he didn’t say shit about him hitting Tahti.

  “Man, I didn’t mean to.”

“Stop bitchin’ and shut the fuck up. That’s not why I called this damn meeting. We’ve been so caught up in our own bullshit that we haven’t been paying attention to what matters the most and that’s keeping our family safe. I wasn’t at Tahani’s house that night but I heard what happened and that shit should have never happened. Period. This nigga is either bold as fuck or crazy as fuck. Shit, he might even be both.”

  “I want in.”

All eyes traveled to Keylin after those words flew out of his mouth. Unlike our dad, DeMoni and I, Key was more calm and reserved. It took a lot to get him worked up and even then, he didn’t fully explode. He was basically the odd one out of the Hooks men and we loved and cherished that about him because we knew we weren’t shit.

“Fuck no, nigga. I’ll be damn if we wait until your ass is twenty-three years old to corrupt you!” I damn near yelled.

“I never said I wanted to kill the nigga, DeJuan. I just said I wanted in. Juanie is my nephew, too and Tahani is like my sister, so makes her family. Even if I have to be the getaway driver that will be good enough for me.”

He was basically pleading and I was dead set against it. I shot my eyes over to Moni and his eyes were on Alpha. Alpha sat there rubbing his chin, deep in thought.

“Don’t tell me that you’re actually thinking about this, pops,” I said.

He stayed quiet for a few before he turned to Keylin. “I’ll let you in, but you’re keeping your fucking hands clean. Like Mega said, you’re my only son who’s not had his hand in anything illegal and we’re going to keep it that way,” he said.

“Well I’ll be damned,” I sighed.

  “Me, too, dammit,” Moni cosigned.

Even though we didn’t agree with our baby brother being in on this, we knew better than to go against out pops. We trusted his judgment and knew that he wouldn’t put any of us in any predicament that he didn’t believe we should be in.

“Alright, this is what we’re going to do,” Alpha said.

We sat up, ready to hear this plan.

  28: Moni

Pulling up to my house, I hit ignore on one of Shantell’s phone calls for what seemed like the hundredth time today. The day I slapped Tahti, I’d fucked around and gotten drunk, called her up and did the unthinkable. Well, I did the unthinkable twice because one after her doctor’s appointments that she’d begged me to take her to, I ended up fucking her again. Now her ass had some type of hope that we were going to get back together or some shit like that.

As I was getting out of my car, a bad ass Range Rover pulled up. The windows were tinted so I couldn’t tell who it was. At the same time, Shantell’s worrisome ass was pulling up and I rubbed my hands down my face, preparing for the bullshit that was about to come.

“So now you want to ignore me all of a sudden, huh?” Shantell yelled as she got her big pregnant ass out of her car.

“Well, isn’t this a sight for sore eyes,” Tahti laughed as she climbed her even bigger than Shantell’s ass out the passenger’s side of the Range.

“God, you must really hate a nigga,” I mumbled to myself.

As Shantell was walking in our direction, I was walking up to the Range, but I stopped in my tracks when I saw Tahani and that bitch Jazz get out. If looks could kill, Jazz would have immediately been on her way to hell fucking around with the evil ass glare I was giving her. This bitch wanted to be a nigga so bad that she had even went as far as to cut her damn hair like one.

“Shantell, sweetie, you might want to come over here and help carry your nigga’s stuff in the house,” Tahti said. “Open the back, Jazz.”

“Fuck is you talking about?” I asked.

Next thing I know, Jazz and Tahani started taking boxes and shit out the back of the truck and bringing them up on my porch and shit. I couldn’t even move because I was actually in shock. Tahtiana really had the audacity to pack my shit up and drop it off to me. This was some bullshit.

“This is everything that you had at my house. I changed my locks and I don’t want you coming to my house anymore, for nothing. I’m seriously done with you this time, DeMoni. It’s the same shit with you and my dumb ass continues to take you back. I’ll have Mama Nique call you when it’s time for me to have my son, but until then, I don’t have anything to say to you. When he gets here, we’ll work out a schedule where you can get him and I’ll have Hani drop him off to you or something like that,” Tahti said as she dropped my key on the ground at me feet and turned to walk away.

Her ass was crazier than I thought if she thought she was going to just walk away from me like that after she pulled this bullshit.

“Hold the fuck up. What type of bullshit is you on, Tahtiana? All this because I slipped up and accidentally slapped you? Do you know how many times I tried to apologize for that shit and you wouldn’t even allow me to? You shut my ass down before I could even utter the words,” I said.

Instead of acting like an adult and talking about this, her ass wanted to keep walking like she didn’t hear me talking to her so I grabbed her arm to stop her.

  “Moni, chill.”

“Don’t be grabbing on her like that!” Tahani and Jazz spoke at the same time.

I had to cock my head to the side because I didn’t know who the fuck this bitch thought she was talking to. I had been waiting for the longest to fuck her ass up and if she didn’t keep her mouth shut and stay on the sidelines like Shantell, today would be my fucking lucky day.

“The last time I checked, you didn’t have a dick to knock her up so you shouldn’t be worried about what the fuck me and my baby mama got going on. Learn to be a bitch and stay in your place,” I spat.

“Stop fucking talking to her like that. Your ass is so disrespectful that it’s sickening. She hasn’t done a damn thing to your ass and you feel threatened by her,” Tahti said.

I didn’t know what the hell made her say that but it caused me to put two and two together. I laughed but it wasn’t a comical one, it was more like I’m a damn lunatic one.

“Tahti, just come on. I told you we should have just dropped this nigga shit off at his mama house,” Jazz said as they walked towards the truck.

  At that point,
I was seeing red because I had come to the conclusion that my bitch had the nerve to be leaving me for a bitch. Before I even knew what I was doing, my gun was being pulled from my waistline and it was aimed right at Tahti’s back.

“Moni, what the fuck are you doing?” Shantell yelled.

Hearing that caused the other three to turn around and look at me. Tahti didn’t even look fazed about me having a gun on her. She actually looked as if she was daring me to pull the trigger with her eyes. She knew good and damn well that I wasn’t going to shoot her ass, especially not while she was carrying my seed.

“I told you the only way you could leave me was through death,” I told her.

“Come on now, Moni, this ain’t even you. It’s not even that serious. Just put the gun down before you accidentally do something you’ll regret,” Tahani said.

“And you think pulling shit like this is going to make me want to stay with your black ass?” she laughed. “Come on, y’all. Let’s go. This nigga is a joke.”

Out the corner of my eye, I saw Jazz coming towards me. Her ass was running full speed and off instinct, I turned towards her.

  POW!

  “JAZZZZZ!” Tahti screamed.

I stood there with my mouth wide open because shooting her wasn’t even my intention. I was essentially going to put my gun up and let them leave in peace but off of reflex, I ended pulling the trigger and shooting her ass.

“What the fuck did you do?” Shantell cried.

There were too many crying females and too much going. My ass was supposed to come home and get ready to ride out on Tristan’s bitch ass but I done got my ass caught up in some bullshit.

  29: Tristan

I paced the floor back and forth as I dialed Kelvin’s number for the third time. This nigga was playing with me and I really didn’t have time for this shit. I needed him to help me get Tahani and he was on some other bullshit. When he had a plan to do Omega dirty, this nigga was all for it, but now that things couldn’t go his way, he wanted to act like a bitch.

“Why do you insist on calling my phone like this?” he asked when he finally answered.

“Why do you insist on acting like a bitch and not answering my phone calls?” I threw back at him.

“What do you want, Tristan? I thought you didn’t need me anymore?” he sighed.

“I want you to set me up something where I can meet Tahani,” I told him.

He was right, I didn’t need him. He was a weak link who was scared of a nigga who bled the same color blood as he did. He was just a little pawn in this thing I had going on anyways. I had plans for his ass to be taken out by the time I was done.

“Hell no! Do you honestly think I would do that after what you did to her? Give it up, Tristan. She doesn’t want anything to do with you.”

“YES SHE DOES!” I bellowed. “She does want to be with me, but it’s people like you who keep getting in our way. Every time I try to get close to her, I can’t because people like you won’t let us. They have people sitting outside of her house! Do you know how it feels to have people try to come between you and the person you love?”

“What the hell are you talking about? Tristan, are you following her?” he asked.

“If you don’t want anything to happen to your daughter, you better make this happen,” I told him, ignoring his question.

“You’re not going to do anything to Tahani. Stop talking crazy, Tristan, and get off my line,” he said, hanging up.

“Who said I was talking about Tahani?” I laughed as I put my phone down.

I was tired of playing these games with these people. I was going to get my woman back, and I was going to get her back tonight. Ever since that night when I tried to go get Tahani and it didn’t go the way I planned, I had been driving past her house every day and night trying to pick the right time to make my move.

Every time I thought it would be the right time, it never worked out because there was always someone in a car sitting outside her house, and it was starting to piss me off. Tonight, though, tonight I didn’t give a damn about none of that shit. I was going in and we were leaving together.

  ___

I sat and watched as the same man that frequently came and went from Tahani’s house left the house with Juanie. It was just a little before sunset. As Juanie went to the car, the man went to another car and said something to the person sitting in the driver’s side before they slapped hands and he left.

I screwed the silencer on my gun and pulled my hoodie over my head as I sat there. I waited about another fifteen minutes until the sun was completely set and climbed out of the car with my gun at my side. Walking up to the car, I swiftly shot into the car, killing him instantly.

Walking up to Tahani’s front door, I jimmied the lock until her front door popped open. I quietly walked throughout the house and inhaled the scent of vanilla that I missed so much. When we lived together, Tahani used to have our whole house smelling like vanilla because she said it was her favorite scent.

“Tahti, you have to calm down before you go into premature labor. I’m packing my bag right now and I’m on my way to you,” I heard her say as I made my way up the stairs.

I quietly walked into her room and stood there watching her as she moved around the room throwing stuff into a bag.

“As soon as Cuba and Juanie get back, I’ll have him drop me off. Calm down, Tahti. I’m not playing with you. Love you, bye.”

  “Hey, Hani,”

I saw her body tense up as she slowly turned around to look at me. So damn beautiful to me.

“H—how did you get in my house?” she asked.

“Come on, Hani. We have to hurry up before he comes back,” I told her as I tried to touch her, but she moved away from me.

“Get out, Tristan. I’m not going anywhere with you. What the hell is wrong with you? Are you fucking crazy?” she yelled.

Pulling my gun from my waistline, I cocked it to let her knew I wasn’t playing with her. I loved Tahani without a doubt, but she didn’t know when to shut the hell up sometimes and that’s what drove me crazy.

“Please don’t make me have to do it, Tahani,” I told her.

“Why are you doing this, Tristan?” she asked.

“I’ll tell you when we get to where we’re going,” I told her.

I saw her trying to make a dash for her phone, but I caught her by her hair. I hated doing shit like this but she insisted, so I had no choice.

  “STOP, TRISTAN! LET ME GOOO!”

“Shut up! Shut the fuck up!” I yelled.

I dragged her out of the room by her hair and told her she better not scream or I was going to blow her fucking brains out. I walked her out of the house and to my car. I threw her in the backseat and told her not to say shit.

I sped away from her house so fast that I’m pretty sure I left some skid marks. I picked up my phone and dialed Kelvin’s number.

  “Hel—”

“You better be at the spot if you want to see your daughter one last time,” I told him before hanging up.

Even though I have no intentions on doing anything to Tahani, I had every intention of doing something to Kelvin. I was making him think that I was going to hurt her so that I could meet up with him and kill him. He had been in my way for far too long and since he couldn’t seem to do one simple task and take Omega out, I’d just have to take the both of them out.

  30: Omega

It had been five hours since I had gotten the call about Hani being taken and I honestly didn’t know what to think. This was second time that I had let something happen to Hani and I was starting to feel like less of a man.

Even if we never got back together or could never get along, I would never wish bad upon her. Tahani was not a bad person. Her downfall was when she loved, she loved hard and it put her in some fucked up situations. Dealing with me, she ended up pregnant at sixteen and raising Juanie as a single parent because I got locked up on some bullshit charges.

  With Tristan’s b
itch ass, he was able to use abuse and mind games to manipulate her into doing whatever he wanted her do to because she really loved his ass. Now, he done snatched her ass up all because of a vendetta he got with me but instead of coming at me like a man, he wants to be a bitch and use her like a pawn in this sick game he’d been playing for far too long.

Glancing down at my ringing phone, I hit the reject button. Rachel hadn’t caught the hint that I didn’t want to be bothered with her ass yet so she had been blowing my damn phone up. My focus has been on getting Tahani back, not dealing with her.

Ever since she was talking crazy that day about trying to be Juanie’s new mom, I’d had to cut her ass off. I wasn’t with the crazy shit. I wasn’t trying to wife her ass and I thought I had made that shit perfectly clear to her when we was in that damn jewelry store.

On top of dealing with that, Tahti going crazy, threatening to turn DeMoni’s ass in to the police if her side chick or whatever she was didn’t pull through. The doctors had to put her in a medically induced coma. I still couldn’t believe Moni went and popped her ass. It was never that serious. That nigga should know better than to pull a gun out on the mother of his child, especially while she’s still carrying the damn baby.

When my mama heard that, she damn near killed his ass. I could have sworn Alpha just socked this nigga in his jaw the other day for putting his hands on her, then his stupid ass turned around and did some stupid shit like pulling a gun on her. This family was so damn crazy it didn’t make no sense.

“This nigga is bold as fuck,” I said.

We were watching the security tape for what seemed like the fiftieth time that night. This nigga just walked to the car, shot the nigga my pops had sitting outside the house, then walked up to the front door and jimmied it.

It was like he was obsessed with Tahani or something. I mean, I know from my own personally experience that the pussy was bomb and at the time, I was the only one hitting, but this nigga was seriously willing to die over it. The part that made it so sad, though, was Tahani didn’t even want shit to do with him.
