“Bae, you drive,” I told her as we walked up to my car. She started up the car and I hit the music player, and sat back and smoked a blunt. The song “Melodies From Heaven” by Kirk Franklin came on the radio. All I could think about was my mother Regina back in the day. She would have us all singing and dancing. Oh man how I wish things were different at the moment. We pulled up to the hospital and I got out and walked up to the front desk. I gave them my sister’s name and they gave me the room number.
Dayja
I was almost sleep when Jay’s dumb ass finally walked through the door. I looked at him and smirked my lips. I called this nigga’s phone three fucking time and this nigga did not pick up but for some reason he was right in my face.
“That lil bitch Brook jumped on me. My body sore but she ain’t do no damage,” I told him. “I called you because I needed somebody to come get me before I left, but of course for some odd reason, your dumb ass didn’t pick up,” I told his ass. “I was on my way to have dinner and sure enough when I got out the car, she just started attacking me,” I chuckled and said. I explained to my brother that I was going to meet Killa at Applebees that night and Killa actually had saved me.
“Damn, maybe we should go pay her ass a visit when we leave here,” he said to me.
“Yes the hell we should,” I said to my brother. As soon as I left here, I was going to do a pull up and hop out on that ass.
“Man, how the hell did you end up with Killa ass anyway?” he asked me.
“I ran into Killa not too long ago and we’ve just been cool, starting over and stuff,” I told my brother. My brother’s lips frowned up and he dropped his head.
“Man, fuck that nigga,” he said to me. I just shrugged my shoulders and rolled my eyes. That was another subject for another time.
I reached over and paged my nurse. I needed to tell them I was ready to go home. I had a ride to take me and everything, so there were no excuses. I thought about Killa and was pretty shocked, but oh well, that was him. The nurse and doctor gave me my discharge papers and a prescription, and I was out the door.
After Jay dropped Tiffany off, we drove over to Brook’s house. I hopped out the car and grabbed my keys. Me and Brook were so damn close we had keys to each other’s place. Since Brook’s ass was so fucking dumb, she started beef with me and didn’t even bother to change the locks. I walked up to her house and unlocked her front door. She was dumber than I thought. I walked up the stairs and found her in the bathroom throwing up. She looked at me and rolled her eyes at me.
“Bitch, we’ve been friends for so many years and your pregnant ass gone knock me down and stomp on me like I ain’t shit thought. Fa real?” I screamed at her. She looked at Jay behind me.
“Hey baby daddy, you finally came to come see me and check on me?” she said to him.
“Brook, what exactly is your beef with me?” I asked her.
“The whole time I thought that nigga Killa had you and you were dead and you wasn’t. Bitch I was worried sick about you,” she got up on me and said.
“Bitch, that night when Killa got us, I heard you loud and clear tell him that it was all my doing to set him up, and all my brothers doing too. Bitch, that was all our plan, you just threw us under the bus like we forced you to do it. That was fake as fuck to me,” I told her. “And then you screaming out you pregnant bitch, you been fucking ole boy and my brother, we don’t know who the baby daddy is and I know your ass don’t either,” I told her.
“When you drop this baby bitch I’mma come see you and that’s bottom line,” I said to her and stormed out the house walking past her bedroom without noticing she had somebody sleep in there. Lil’ slut bitch.
I got into the car with my brother and we pulled off. I turned on some R&B to calm my nerves. Everything was going bad at the moment. I couldn’t even deal with life at this moment. Damn, maybe Killa should have just killed me. I knew one day my past was going to haunt me, but I didn’t know it was going to haunt me this soon. I needed to come with a plan and I needed to come up with it soon.
KILLA
I woke up the next afternoon feeling better. Although I didn’t have a wet pussy to dive in, a hot shower was going to have to do. I got into shower, did my daily heigyne and got fresh to death real quick. The streets of Minneapolis wasn’t going to be able to handle a nigga. I needed to take a trip to Chiraq ASAP. I was in the mirror checking myself out when I heard my phone going off
Dayja: Hey just wanted to tell you thank you for taking me to the hospital I’m home now.
Me: You straight mama how did you get home.
Dayja: my brother and okay, have a good day, be safe.
Me: yup you to mama
Damn, lil’ mama was going through it. She is truly getting payback for what she has done to people. I still didn’t really understand the beef between her and Brook, but then again, females beef over the pettiest shit nowadays. I had to admit though, behind Dayja’s flaws she was still nice and had a heart. I always felt like the reason she does the things she does is because of how her life played out while she was growing up. But that was her. I can’t judge nobody because I know my life is really hectic, and I knew I had more bodies under my belt than a person can count on their hands and toes. “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” played on my phone and snapped me out of my trance.
“What’s up Four Loco?” I yelled into the phone at Loco.
“Shit brah, you ain’t hit the highway yet, huh?” he yelled into the phone.
“Man, I’m putting on my shirt and I’m finna get to it now, what’s up though?”
“Man brah, just bicken back beeing bool, blood shit,” he laughed into the phone.
“Oh let me guess, you got your red bandanna on today, huh?”
“And you know this mane. I woke up in a pool full of blood, beat shorty pussy so good last night I repopped her cherry,” Loco said into the phone.
“You is fucking fool bro man, I’m finna be on my way,” I told him and hung up. Loco was crazy as hell. I can just imagine him making a female bleed and him not giving a fuck. Loco had a ‘don’t give a fuck’ mentality. He just didn’t care when it came to these females. He is true the definition of fucking and dumping them. I made my way to my garage and about this forty-five minute drive to Minneapolis. It was two p.m. on the dot on August 16, and ninety degrees outside. Yup, the hoes were definitely going to be out today. I decided to pull out my new all-white Cadillac CTS coupe and show it off. I had just recently purchased it two days ago and I still haven’t shown my brothers yet. I pulled out my garage, honked at my neighbors and pushed the pedal to the metal.
I arrived to Minneapolis around quarter after three. I was excited to get off the highway due to the fact I had been stuck in traffic for over an hour. I got off the 694 on Broadway Avenue. I was trying to stay focused on driving. There were a lot of half-naked women outside with partial clothes on. I pulled into McDonalds and parked my caddie. I grabbed my phone to give Loco a call. Of course, when I called him, he picked up on the first ring.
“What’s up bitch, where you at?” he answer the phone and said.
“Yup, I’m here posted on Broadway watching these hoes enjoy this weather,” I laughed into the phone and said. I was watching a girl with some high-waist shorts and a crop tee walking in front of me. She noticed me looking at her and then she winked at me. I turned around from looking at her. Don’t get me wrong, shorty was bad as hell, but she was walking. You can’t do shit with a bitch that’s walking.
“Yup, I’m already knowing the deal, but I ain’t doing shit but sitting at the crib right now. But shit, since you on the black top I might as well come outside.”
“Man, well shit, I’m out here. I just pulled here because I was tired of driving. I got caught in traffic and shit,” I told Loco. I chatted on the phone with Loco for a few minutes before we hung up. Loco was on his way to snatch Slim and we were gone meet up and go to happy hour somewhere. I thought about calling Dayja to see if she was up
to going. I knew she probably needed a few drinks here and there. I hated the fact that I still liked her. I wasn’t supposed to like her but I still did. I knew she was a bad case of drama, but I still felt for her. I knew she needed the love and caring and I wanted to give it to her, but I knew I wasn’t supposed to. I needed to get shorty out of my system ASAP and I needed her to leave my system for good.
Brook
After Jay and Dayja left, I started throwing up some more. How in the hell did she know I was the one who was fighting her from behind? Man, that bitch was a smart bitch. I was happy as hell she knew it was me because maybe that would make her want to retaliate and try to kill me and when she did that, I was going to send her clown ass to jail.
KNOCK KNOCK
“Yes,” I yelled out the door. The door came open and there was Bee standing there looking at me like a lost puppy. I was getting tired of his ass too. Damn, all he wanted me to do was sit in the house and play this ‘happy pregnancy’ role while I was miserable as hell. I was still undecided if I wanted this baby but me with all this throwing up is making me want to kill it myself. Bee walked up and helped me off the floor and walked me to the sink. I put some toothpaste on my toothbrush and started brushing my teeth.
“Damn girl, this baby got you going through the worst,” he said to me and kissed me on the side of my face. I was looking at him all crazy. He didn’t just hear Dayja and Jay come in here cursing me out?
I turned away from him and rolled my eyes; this nigga was so goddamn lame. I wondered what me and Dayja was thinking when we had met them. I guess after being around someone for a short period of time you started to realize how lame he or she actually is. I spit my toothpaste out and walked past him and headed to my bedroom.
“I heard your girl Dayja was here,” he looked at me and said.
“Was it true?” he asked again.
“Was what true?” I asked him back.
“You caught her off guard and fought her. Damn that’s cold and you out here fighting while you carrying my seed.”
“Man, fuck you and her, this not even-” I had to stop myself before I said something that I regret and my whole operation gets thrown off.
“What were you going to say Brook? That’s not even my what?” he looked at me and asked. I don’t know why but I all of a sudden got scared to death. The way Bee was looking at me was scary. He was looking like he was going to kill my ass. I closed my room door and locked it. I didn’t need him trying to beat my ass and drag me through my house. I sat on my bed and thought about my life. I don’t know why but all of a sudden, me trying to plan my future and figure what I’m going to do with this baby was always on my mind. I didn’t know what God had in store for me.
“Damn,” I mumbled to myself. I was so busy with my thoughts and so fucking irarrted that I didn’t hear Bee walk into my room. I didn’t even have the energy to even fight with Bee ass anymore. I was starting to be over this thing called life.
“Brooklyn, I just want to know is that baby mine, or you don’t even know?” I heard him say from behind me. I knew whose baby it was; well, at least I thought I knew whose baby this was.
“Yes Bee, it’s your baby, damn,” I told him. I tried to close my eyes and get a peace of mind, when I felt his arms slip under me and turn me over. I still kept my eyes closed hoping he would think I didn’t want to be bothered. Next thing I knew, I felt his lips on my stomach. Instantly I felt disgusted. I rolled my eyes in my head. I needed to come up with a plan ASAP.
A few hours later, I woke up and noticed that Bee was not lying on the side of me. I felt a weight being lifted off my shoulders. I was tired of him. I walked into the bathroom and noticed my phone on the counter. I prayed and hoped Bee didn’t go through my phone because I just knew he was going to see some things that he didn’t want to see and that was really going to make him disappear, and the funds that he was dropping on me I needed it more than anything at the moment. I picked up my phone and laughed to myself. He couldn’t have gone through my phone because I had a lock number code on it and nobody knew it but me. It was 1013, which stood for October 13, the day I lost a real good friend close to me. I was excited to notice that I had text from Loco.
Loco: You good shorty?
Me: Yes I’m fine and thank you, I took care of my business early.
Loco: WHAT?!
Next thing I knew my phone vibrated in my hand and I knew it was Loco calling. I knew he wanted to know about the business I had earlier.
“Hello,” I answered in a light, sexy voice.
“Man, what business did you take care of earlier?” he yelled into the phone.
“Damn nigga, you calling me acting like she’s your bitch or something. Is you really that worried?” I questioned him.
“Aye dude, shut up, I’m just trying to make sure you covered your tracks up,” he said back to a calmer voice. My heart melted at the fact that he was checking up on me.
“Aww Loco, you were checking up on yo’ boo, huh?” I said. I was still trying to avoid his question and I didn’t want to tell him anything that he didn’t need to know. I didn’t know who he actually runs with so there’s no telling who his friends are.
“Whatever shorty, you must be trying to avoid my question but it’s cool. What you doing, you still sick?’ he asked me.
“No, I’m not sick but I’m going to be sick if I don’t see you soon.” I tried to throw some game at him.
“Shorty, I ain’t gone lie, your ass is crazy as hell, and you beautiful. You the type of chick I would definitely want to kick it with and get to know, but I know you got a history and I don’t want nothing to haunt you while you with me, ya feel me?” Loco said into the phone. I looked at him and turned my nose up. Damn, whatever happened to the niggas that were willing to ride and have your back? This nigga just straight came at me with no hesitation. I wasn’t even going to lie, I was feeling salty as hell.
“Damn nigga, don’t ever judge a book by its cover. You don’t know my life story! Remember you’re the one walking around here with the name Loco.” I was really trying not to lose my cool with Loco, but he was really jumping out his body and talking out the side of his goddamn neck. I was really sitting here contemplating if I should hang up on him.
“Hello!” I heard him yell him into the phone.
“My bad Loco, you’re just kind of of pissing me off right now acting like you know me and everything, okay,” I told him. I don’t know why I was becoming soft all of sudden. Damn, what was getting into me lately? Oh yea, I forgot, these pregnancy hormones.
“I’m just saying. You did come to me the other day asking for gun talking about you wanted to kill your homegirl and shit. That sounds fluky to me. I understand you and shorty probably had a fallen out but damn, you quick to kill a person. It’s cool shorty, I’ll holla,” Loco said to me and hung up. I stared at the phone trying to figure out what the hell just happened here. No this nigga didn’t, I thought to myself. I rolled my eyes and walked out the bathroom and walked downstairs to my kitchen. As I got to the bottom step, I noticed Bee had left me a plate of food and the next to the plate was a stack full of money. I immediately walked over to the money and counted out five thousand dollars.
“Yesses!” I yelled out to no in particular. These were the times where I wished I had Dayja as a friend. Me and her would have went to Mall of America and balled out real quick. Damn, where was a friend when I needed one. Oh well, I guess I was going to have to enjoy the mall by my lonesome, but it was okay, maybe I needed some time to myself.
I got to Mall of America and instantly became disgusted. As soon as I walked in, I noticed numerous couples walking around looking like lovebirds. I rolled my eyes and took the escalator to the second floor. I found myself walking up to the children’s clothing stores. I walked into Children’s Place and asked the sale associate to show me the newborn clothes. I had to start shopping for the baby some time soon.
“Are you expecting?” I heard somebody say behind
me. I turned around and noticed it was the sale associate, and I looked at her and smiled.
“Well, yes I am, I don’t know what I’m having yet thought,” I shrugged my shoulders and told her. I smiled at her once and exited the store. I couldn’t be in there any longer. I was getting sick and tired already. Man, I needed to get my life back together. This lonely shit was starting to get to me.
Jay
I was on my way to Stillwater to pay my big brother a visit. I really needed some words of wisdom right now. Tiffany decided to tag along to check out some of the stores in the city. Tiffany was such a damn goody two shoes girl. She read her medical books all day and turned into a freak at night. I always said I wanted a hood smart chick but Tiffany ain’t have no hood in her. She was a nerd from the jump but I couldn’t be mad at her because she was that way from the start. I reached over and rubbed her thighs and she leaned over to kiss me. I pulled into the prison, drove around to the front and parked my car. I got out and gave Tiffany a kiss, and she was on her way. I was really nervous about seeing my brother after all these months. I gave the people at the desk my number and they told me to sit down until they called his last name. I was nervous as hell waiting to hear his name being called.
