Into the Deep Page 22

by Lauryn April

I would soon find, however, that things weren’t completely back to normal and they never would be again, but that would be okay with me. While we all laughed along with Skyler, I felt Brant’s eyes on me. I glanced at him and smiled, but then my attention was pulled back to the guys and their antics. It wasn’t until I heard something that I looked at him again.

I might love her, he thought and my eyes snapped to him.

My laughter fell silent on my lips and my eyes were wide. For a moment, I was frozen in surprise, surprise at what I had heard as well as the fact that I had heard it. It was a rather overwhelming moment. I was still trying to process the fact that I hadn’t lost my ability when the meaning of his words occurred to me. I felt tingly all over and couldn’t help but smile.

You can hear me, can’t you? Brant thought.

I didn’t answer aloud, but the grin on my face told him everything. He laughed and again pulled me close to him. Just then I wondered if I might love him too.
