But phase one had been a success. Phase two was to come. Then phase three.
Camden swallowed, then straightened his back. “I will do what it takes to make sure he’s dead. And I will kill anyone associated with him as well.”
“When we meet next, we expect it to be done,” one said. “And it needs to be done quietly. We need to be inconspicuous. Use your best man for this. But if that doesn’t work, then you may have to use more severe methods.”
“I will get it done,” Camden said.
“And the precious cargo,” another said, “is it scheduled to be taken north?”
“In a little more than a month,” Camden said.
“But first Samuel Tash, please. We don’t need resistance like that.”
“Of course,” Camden said.
As he left, he knew who he needed for the job. It had been a mistake to use Elias and his group of mercenaries to close in on the Chicago neighborhood, though Samuel Tash hadn’t been the only reason they had been there.
None of that mattered now. The assassin would get the job done. Samuel Tash was only an annoying gnat in the grand scheme of things—someone barely worth noting. Once he was gone, the Horsemen could move forward without worry.
Camden smiled.
That was why they needed him. He would give the Horsemen the world. And they would hand the world off to other, more capable hands.
