Lucky finally broke the kiss. “I love you so much, darlin’.”
She met his serious gaze. She saw the truth of his words in his eyes.
“I love you, too, Lucky.”
Rafe rejoined them on the bed on her other side. “I love you so much, babe, is there a chance you could love me?”
Darlene turned over to meet his concerned gaze. “Are you kidding? I love you, Rafe.” She glanced back at Lucky and grabbed his hand and held it in her other hand as she reached for Rafe’s. “I love you both, so much. I don’t know what I would do without you two.”
Rafe kissed her, ravaging her mouth.
Finally, he released her lips. She recognized the love they all three shared for each other.
She noticed Rafe was wearing his ring, and she thought of Rafe’s friend, Dutch. “I’m so glad you’re wearing your friend’s ring. It was amazing to watch the bright stream of light, like lightning or some sort of electrical charge, race from the ring to encircle your body as you shape-shifted to your wolf form right before the fight started with the Hawks today.” Darlene gazed at him and knew the love she felt for him had to be apparent in her eyes.
“I’m always surprised by the power of this ring. It only happens when my strong emotions bring out the wolf in me. Everyone should have one.” He grinned at her.
Darlene smiled at them. “In that case, we need to find one for Lucky. And, Rafe, I want you to wear your friend’s ring with pride in yourself. I couldn’t help but notice that you apologized to Colt and Lucky as well as Kelly today. I’m so proud of you for doing that. I know it wasn’t easy for you, but you did it very well, and I know Kelly really appreciated it.”
“I’m sure they did, too,” Lucky said, “because I appreciated you doing that, Rafe, even though you didn’t have to where I’m concerned. We’ll always be good friends. And we understand each other pretty well.”
“Thanks, Lucky. I value our friendship, and I never want to lose it.”
“You’re both very wonderful guys. I hope you two will stay with me for as long as you can. I love you both equally, you know.” She had a feeling the three of them belonged together.
“I just want you to know, I don’t mind not having a ring to wear. But I would love to wear any ring you find for me, darlin’.”
Rafe hugged her close. “I want to stay forever with you, babe, if you’ll have me.”
“Me, too.” Lucky kissed her on the cheek, his lips whisper soft.
Darlene laughed and smiled at both of them. “That sounds like my perfect dream come true. But what about your ranches?”
Rafe shrugged. “We can divide our time between your place here in Desert Edge and our cattle ranches in Hondo. You can take care of charity work there just like you do here. And I don’t think the Hawks will be a threat now since most all of them are in jail.”
Lucky grinned at her. “You’ll be a good match for Rafe’s tough old dad. Right, Rafe?”
“Right. Whenever you feel the urge, you can give my dad as hard a time as you want to.” He kissed her gently on her other cheek, his lips warm and soft.
She slipped her arms around both of them and gave them each a kiss. “It doesn’t matter where we are. I think everything is going to be perfect as long as the three of us are together.”
