Coach Winston left the locker room to return to the main area of the gym. A few parents of players were still there. Not surprising was the Love family. They supported everything their children did, especially since two of the three Love boys were on his team, and he expected the have the third one next season. He approached them.
Michael Love stood as the coach walked toward them. He extended his hand to the coach. “Thanks for working with my son.”
“Best kid I’ve ever coached. Thank you.”
He and the coach stepped away from the small gathering of waiting family and friends. “The scouts were talking to us about Alex,” He stated simply.
“I saw,” Coach Winston replied dryly.
“Alex is exceptional. They want him to forgo college for now and go straight to the NBA. They think he could be a star,” Michael continued.
Coach Winston stopped walking. He knew college scouts were there, but the NBA scouts snuck up on him. “Really? Does he know?”
“Are you kidding? Did you see the show he put on out there tonight? You would have thought Ty was being scouted, not Alex.” Michael chuckled.
“Yeah, you are right. What does he want to do?”
Michael exhaled, and then smiled. “My son wants to practice law.”
Coach Winston returned the smile. “Alex always did his own thing. He was never one to be pushed into anything. Great kid.”
“Thanks.” “I’ll still have your other two to push around, won’t I?” “Of course, Coach. I wouldn’t take that away from you.
Someone needs to warn Maddy’s coach the NBA scouted her brother. I’m sure she’s gonna be out to prove herself very soon.” Maddy’s team had won the girls state championship, but did not have an undefeated season like the boys.
“I’m sure,” Coach Winston responded.
The players started to exit the locker room and enter into the gym to awaiting family and friends. Abigail grabbed her son and hugged him tight. Then, she turned her attention to Ty. “No trouble tonight,” She said in a firm voice.
“Aw, Ma. You know I won’t start anything,” Ty protested. He was one of the youngest players on the varsity team and he was already dating half the cheerleading squad.
“I’ll take care of him, Mom,” Alex spoke smoothly.
“I know you will, baby.” She smiled, touching his cheek, looking up at the boys who towered over her.
“Can I go?” Chris asked, coming to stand next to Alex and Ty.
“I’m sorry, baby. You are still too young to hang out with that crowd,” Abigail responded. Chris’ heart was broken. She turned back to speak to her husband and the coach.
Alex leaned into Chris’ ear. “Meet us on the corner of the block five minutes after I page you. If you are not there, you get left.” Chris beamed in excitement. Alex added, “Don’t let anyone see you leave.”
The team was ready to party. The destination for the night was the skating rink. Any and everyone would be there for the victory party. For one night, curfews were extending and everyone was taking full advantage.
Alex had a late model Jeep Cherokee that his parents made him pay half for. He was one of the only kids with his own car. The Chronic by Dr. Dre was currently pounding out 'Let Me Ride' on the cassette player. As many players that could possibly fit got into the car, knowing if they weren’t family, they would have to find their own ride home.
They made their way to the local rink. After dropping everyone off, Alex and Ty swung back to the neighborhood to pick up Chris and head back.
The party was ridiculous and the girls were smokin’ hot. Of course, Alex was dating the hottest girl at Penn Prep, Rhonda Jenkins. She was captain of the cheerleading squad and had the longest legs he had ever laid eyes on. She was it for him. No other girl could turn his head and they all knew it. Rhonda had Alex locked down and he wasn’t in the least bit upset about it.
When the three Love brothers entered, girls literally swooned. Ty used his power to his advantage, and Chris trailed right along with him learning all the techniques. Alex searched the crowd for Rhonda.
She was seated at a booth with her girlfriends, which included his cousin, Ami. Maddy and Hannah sat at the table rounding out the crew of the most popular girls at Penn Prep. They were drinking sodas and laughing when Alex walked up behind Rhonda.
“Hey, sexy,” He whispered in her ear.
Rhonda turned with the smile she knew he loved. “Hey yourself.”
Alex kissed her long and deep, pulling her up from her seat. “Ill, will you two get a room?!” Ami shouted over the music. Alex broke the kiss, but still held Rhonda around her tiny waist.
“Hey, ya’ll,” He said greeting his three female family members. “Yeah, hey.” Ami spoke waving him off. “Are Ty and Chris
here?” “Yeah, they are around here somewhere. By the way, how did
you get out?” He asked, knowing his aunt and uncle were very much like his parents.
“Dave and Flex are here and I promised Mom I would spy for her,” She answered.
Alex shot her a death look.
“Please, Alex. I would never tell on them. Just like I won’t tell that you snuck Chris here. I was not missing this party. By the way, cousin, good game.” She got up, placed a return kiss on his cheek, and walked off.
Alex smiled, thinking some boy was going to fall under Ami’s spell. He hoped whoever it was, was ready. Hell, he hoped he, his brothers and cousins were ready to beat some guy’s behind. He chuckled at his thoughts.
“Alex, baby, come dance with me,” Rhonda said, pulling him from his thoughts. The rink was set up with a regular dance floor off to one side for those who did not skate. He let her lead the way, enjoying to site of her swaying in front of him.
Rhonda knew Alex was her meal ticket. She really liked him. Maybe she loved him, but who cared about that. She had seen the NBA scouts at the game. In a few months, Alex would be on his way to being Rookie of the Year. If she played her cards right, she would be Mrs. Alexander Love, the richest person she ever knew.
She was tired of the second hand uniforms and pinching and saving for every little thing. She wasn’t cut out to go to college. She had aspirations of being a high class housewife. She wanted to live like the majority of the girls she went to school with. The princesses. She planned to become a professional at spending Alex’s money. Those other chicks better watch out, because she would do whatever it took to be with him. After all, the boy was destined to be rich!
Rhonda rotated her hips and grinded in front of Alex. She was making quite the public display and he didn’t care. She was letting every girl in the place know that he was her man, and Alex went along for the ride. Guys drooled over Rhonda and it boosted his ego. Life couldn’t get any better at that very moment.
Ami and her cousins sat at the original table Ami had abandoned with a few of their female friends. They all went to Penn Prep and were the most sought after girls in the school.
“What in the world does my brother see in that girl?” Maddy asked.
“She’s not that bad,” Ami defended. Hannah sucked her teeth.
“Please...” Maddy continued. “Look at her. Is she trying to do him on the dance floor or what?” Several girls chuckled.
“She really likes him, Maddy,” Ami continued in defense of her friend.
“Yeah, well, I wonder how much she’ll like him when she finds out he doesn’t want to play pro ball.” Maddy took a sip of her drink.
“What?!” Ami shouted. All eyes from the table were trained on Maddy.
Maddy looked at everyone in their inner circle. “Alright already, if she finds out before he tells her, I’ll know one of you told and I swear I’ll never speak to any of you again.”
“Maddy, what the hell is going on?” Ami continued to ask.
“Well...” The group gathered closer into the table, “Alex told Daddy yesterday that he didn’t care about the scouts. He loved the game for the game, not the hype. He said no matter
what, he would not play pro ball because he wanted to study law like him.”
“Shut up!” Hannah said taken aback.
“Yep, that’s what he said.” Maddy sat back in her seat and folded her arms across her chest triumphantly. “I was practicing piano and was right there. He doesn’t want to play because he wants to be a lawyer .”
The entire table looked over at Alex and Rhonda dancing. Ami thought that little piece of news would not sit well with Rhonda. She knew where her loyalties were and hoped like hell she and Rhonda would still be friends after she found out.
Alex continued to let Rhonda grind and gyrate on the dance floor until he couldn’t take it any longer. Rolling his eyes, he pulled her from the dance floor by her hand. Rhonda giggled, knowing she was getting to him as she always did. He pinned her in a corner near the skate rental.
“What are you going to do, Alex? Strip me here in the rink?” She asked with a wicked grin.
“Don’t tempt me,” Alex drawled. He then proceeded to kiss her. He pressed his body against hers, forcing her into the wall. She locked her arms around his neck and returned the kiss with equal passion.
After a few minutes and realizing the need to breathe, Alex pulled back. Looking down at her, He asked, “Is your mom home?”
Rhonda’s face split into a wide grin. “Nope, let’s get outta here.”
Holding her hand, Alex walked over to where Ty was dancing with a beautiful, dark chocolate girl who did not go to their school. He spoke into his ear to be heard over the music. “I’m out. I’ll be back for you and Chris. Maddy has her car. Watch out for Chris and the girls. Page me if you need me.”
Ty never stopped dancing as he glanced over at Rhonda. “Cool,” was his only response. He completely understood. He also understood that nothing could happen to any of the Loves while Alex was gone or it would be hell to pay from his parents. Alex and Rhonda headed for the door and out of the skating rink.
Once in the car, Rhonda knew she had to really put it on Alex tonight, especially if she wanted to secure her future with his potential fame and wealth. She started in his car by rubbing her hand up and down his thigh as he drove.
“Rhonda, please. You’re gonna make me cause an accident,” He said not really wanting her to stop.
“Alex, whatever. You’re always in control.” She continued by kissing the sensitive area behind his right ear.
He made it to her house in record time and just like always, her mom was gone. He never questioned her about her mom. He knew it was not a pleasant subject for her. She and her mom fought all the time. Rhonda had made it clear that after high school, she was getting out of her mother’s house.
He parked the car and before he could open the door for her, she jumped out. For some reason, it annoyed him tonight. She knew how he felt about certain things and opening doors for her was one of them. He shook off the negative feeling and walked up to the front door.
She opened the door and dragged him into the modest two story home she shared with her mom and what ever boyfriend her mother had currently.
Although Rhonda was kissing and groping him again blindfolded, he knew his way up to her bedroom. They had been in the empty house many times. It sometimes bothered him that she didn’t have a loving, supportive family like he did. It never bothered her. He wanted to give her the kind of life he experienced with his own family.
Once in her room, she pushed him down on her lavender and white laced bed and began a strip tease for him. He lay back on the bed enjoying the show, thinking she would never bore him in the bedroom. He thought about what he needed to tell her about his decision for his future. Her skirt came off and that thought was completely gone.
Alex striped, making absolutely no show of the act. He removed a condom from his pants and proceeded to open the package.
“You don’t need that,” Rhonda said, using her most sultry voice. She reached up to take the condom from him.
Alex was momentarily stunned. He couldn’t believe she was asking him to be irresponsible. “Yes, sweetheart, we do need this.”
“I want to feel all of you tonight, Alex. No barriers,” She purred.
Alex stepped back from her reach. As much as he wanted to just toss the damned thing aside, he had way more common sense. It only took one time to change the course of your life, and he couldn’t fathom doing that to his parents right now.
Rhonda quickly noticed his hesitation and decided not to push. She would have another chance. Maybe she could find his supply and poke a few holes in them. “Ok, baby,” She said, smiling and coming up on her knees on the bed. “Let me help you get it on.”
Alex’s annoyance with her quickly faded as his overactive hormones once again took over the situation. She grasped his manhood and rolled the condom down to the base.
He exhaled as she slid her hands around his firm hips to grip his behind. She let her tongue roam up his tight abs. He felt his head begin to spin as she trailed her tongue back down toward his now throbbing need.
Alex groaned as he pushed Rhonda back down on the small twin sized bed. She quickly opened up for him, knowing it was her opportunity to secure him forever. She would put all she had into that moment with him. Her intent was to brand herself onto his brain because the groupies he would face in the coming year would be fierce competition.
He entered her as he had done many times before, in that very same place. He heard her let out the breath he knew she was holding. He immediately embarked on his journey to fulfill them both.
Rhonda became a very active, very willing participant in the act. As Alex found his rhythm, she lifted her hips to afford him deeper access. She palmed his slender face and kissed him deeply with her tongue finding its way nearly to his throat.
Soon, she forced herself from under his weight, reversed their positions, and mounted herself atop his athletic form.
Alex was a little surprised as she had never expressed any interest in doing anything different. ‘Damn’ He thought as he watched her youthful breasts bounce up and down.
Both of them were spiraling toward release. She dug her nails into his shoulders and he had a death grip on her hips guiding her in the direction he wanted and needed her to be.
Seconds later, she screamed as a climax overrode her body, vibrating from head to toe. Alex was on her heels, giving in to his own release. He allowed the wave of pleasure to wash over him and relax his body.
She collapsed heavily on top of him, trying desperately to control her breathing.
Alex smiled. He pushed back a lock of her hair that had fallen across his face. He whispered in her ear, “I love you.”
“I know,” came her reply, and she kissed him before he could look into her eyes and read her soul.
Her kiss always scrambled his brain, and that night was no different. He had no chance to process the fact that in all the time they had been together, she had never told him she loved him. She always responded with, ‘I know.’
Rhonda glanced up to check the clock. They needed to get out before her mom came home. She finally looked down into his face. “Come on. We gotta go. The warden will be home soon.”
She rolled off of him and placed her feet on the floor. She smiled all the way to the bathroom, knowing Alex would belong to her forever.
Alex lay for a moment starting at the ceiling, allowing common sense and coherent thought to come back to him. He needed to tell her about his decision. It was also starting to bother him that she’d never expressed her love for him. He sat up. Tonight, we will talk, he thought as he headed toward the bathroom.
Twenty minutes later, they sat in his jeep outside of her house preparing to head back to the skating rink. Rhonda had a huge smile on her face as Alex started the engine. He smiled at her beauty and thought of their future together. She was a little rough around the edges, but he adored her.
As he pulled onto the street, he glanced over at her and said, “Babe, you know how I feel about you, right?”
“
Sure, Alex,” She replied flippantly as she checked her lip gloss in the visor mirror.
Alex winced. “I need to tell you something, and I know you’ll understand. It will be the best choice for us.”
It was the moment she knew was coming. He was going to tell her that he was entering the NBA and would be away for a while. She planned to visit him every chance she got. Those groupie chicks wouldn’t stand a chance. She was the best out there. “Of course you know I’ll understand. Spit it out,” She grinned as she closed the mirror.
He smiled. “I’ve made a decision about my future. A future I would like for you to share with me. Our future.”
Rhonda’s heart beat wildly. Was he going to propose, too? It just couldn’t get any better! “Yes, Alex?” She said as her heart beat wildly in her chest.
Alex exhaled. “I’ve decided not to play pro ball and go on to college to study law like my father.”
Rhonda’s neck nearly snapped as she turned to look at him. Surely, the earth had stopped spinning and surely he had not said what she thought she heard. “What do you mean, you’re not going to play pro ball? Why would you want to be like your dad? What are you, crazy?” She was stunned. He couldn’t possibly be serious.
“Hold up, Rhonda. Don’t insult my father or what he does. Anyway, I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer. Basketball never changed that. It was fun, but I’m done with it now. Maybe I’ll play a little in college, but I’m going to be a lawyer,” He replied smoothly.
Rhonda could feel the flames burning inside her head. Her heart was hardening by the second. She glared at him. “Do you know what this means for my future?”
He looked at her. “What do you mean, ‘your future’?”
“My future!” She yelled, smacking the dash board. “I had plans, Alexander, and you are ruining them!”
