Reaching into his pocket, Evan pulled out a folded piece of paper.
“There comes a time in every man’s life when he has to take stock of who he is and who he hopes to be. That time for me came the first time I saw you. Although I didn’t approach you right away, Emery, I saw you. And without conscious thought, I began the journey of taking stock of who I was, and who I wanted to be. But my thoughts were not just about me. My thoughts were who I wanted to be for you. From the first moment I laid eyes on you, I realized there was something special about you. Something in me knew that you belonged to me. The Creator himself molded you and breathed life into you because you were going to be the best part of me. That’s why, Emery, despite the obstacles, despite the past, despite anything, I could dare you to love me. I could dare you to love me because He loved me enough to gift me with you. And I promise, Em, with every fiber of my being, that I will cherish you and love you and honor you from now until time is no more.”
Evan was moved, and there was another collective sigh that reverberated through those there. Emery lifted her kerchief tucked neatly in the bow of her bouquet, and gently wiped his tears away. The minister requested the rings and they were prayed over before the rings were exchanged.
“We here, bearing witness to this union, are charged with the responsibility of shoring this couple up. We as witnesses agree to love them, support them and pray for them. Amen?”
“Amen,” they chorused.
“Now, by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Evan, you may kiss your bride.”
Evan lifted Emery’s veil. He looked into her eyes as though it was the first time.
“I love you, Em.”
“I love you, too.”
Leaning in, Evan kissed her lips with the fervor that poured from his heart. Emery lovingly kissed him in return, as Mrs. Evan Stanton.
The End
Thank you so much for reading I Am Moore. This is the first book in the All That & Moore series. I would really appreciate it, especially if you enjoyed the story, to leave a review on Amazon and Goodreads. For Indie authors, reviews are the life blood of our work. They give other readers insight into the story and greater visibility for the authors. Thanks in advance and I hope you will continue reading the Moore series with me!
