Thank you to all the readers who have joined me in discovering new adventures for DCI Ryan over the past eighteen months. I can hardly believe that my pipe dream to become an author is now a living, breathing reality but I owe it to every one of you who has taken the time and effort to read the books and to get in touch. You are a wonderful driving force for me to carry on writing, all the time striving to write even better stories!

Similar thanks go to all the lovely book bloggers who have read and supported the series, your kind words have meant so much and I know that you have been pivotal in helping to spread the word about Ryan’s exploits up in the beautiful North East.

I am grateful to Jon Elek and Millie Hoskins of United Agents, who have offered their valuable insights and advice and who continue to be wonderfully supportive as I grow as an author and embark upon new challenges. Likewise, the teams at Amazon KDP, Amazon Crossing and Audible Studios, who have enabled me to release this series and make it possible for everybody to read it, listen to it and (hopefully) enjoy it for years to come.

The love and support from my family and friends is always humbling. My husband, James, has been a consistent source of encouragement and his unstinting praise tempered with sound practical advice and technical know-how has been invaluable. Without it, I imagine I would still be working in a profession that didn’t suit me, wishing I had taken the leap. To my mum, my dad and my sister, thank you all so much for your positivity and for giving me the self-belief to try in the first place. Tallulah, Katie, Alex, Lauren, Kirsty, Kirsten and all my friends: thank you for offering me strategic glasses of vino tinto when I needed it most!

Finally, to my son, Ethan. Thank you for being the little bundle of sunshine which brightens up my day. I hope that you will like reading my books when you are older and have grown out of Thomas the Tank Engine—but don’t grow up too fast, you’re only three but almost as tall as me.
