Ferdinand is sleeping. Still the mellowest babe in town.
And I have a new book deal, and a new novel to write and childcare—in fact it’s astonishing, here we are in late January and I have never felt so positive. Feel fit again. Sane again. Ready for adventure again…
Also—went to meet my two section heads at the Sunday Times earlier today. Turns out I’m not giving up the column after all. In fact, truth is I didn’t exactly even get around to suggesting it. Slightly lost the impetus at the vital minute. Everyone was being so nice to me, and then it suddenly occurred to me, it’s bloody good fun having a secret life. Isn’t it?
In any case, over lunch they told me the Editor wanted to see me. Actually, they said ‘John’ wanted to see me, and I’m proud to say that I had the presence of mind, on this occasion, not to say ‘John who?’ So off I tottered, to his very important office. Lots of very important people milling around, looking edgy. I was feeling pretty damn edgy myself.
Turned out he was younger than I’d imagined, though. Not bad looking, either. For a big cheese.
…I wonder if he plays tennis?
About the Author
Daisy Waugh is a journalist and travel writer. She has worked as an agony aunt and as a restaurant critic. She was a teacher at a girl’s school in Northern Kenya and has also written a weekly column from Los Angeles about her attempts to become a Hollywood scriptwriter. Her previous novels include The New You Survival Kit, Ten Steps to Happiness, Bed of Roses and Bordeaux Housewives.
Daisy and her family live in London…for the moment.
