Fight You Page 13

by Abby Mccarthy

Normally, a blindfold would’ve freaked me out, but with Daws, it’s different. He’s been so patient and caring. I’ve only had to take one of the pills that the doctor prescribed me and admittedly, it did help. I think when I told Daws about the horror I went through that it released some of Rich’s power over me. I avoid the TV, never wanting to accidentally see Rich. Daws hasn’t brought him up but I can sense that he is trying to figure out a way to protect me.

I can tell we have slowed our pace in the Charger. It’s going over some bumps and my face shows my confusion.

“Relax, it’s only snow. A fresh coating fell since I had it plowed this morning,” Daws says easing my worry.

The car comes to a stop and Ari grabs my shoulder in excitement. “I’ll come around the car for you,” Daws says as he and Ari pile out of the car.

He leads me through the snow a little and then stands behind me. “I’m going to take this off but keep your eyes closed, okay?” I nod my head in agreement. Daws removes the blindfold and I keep my eyes shut. He positions me and wraps his arm around me. Ari grabs my hand and gives it a squeeze.

  “Open your eyes,” he commands.

I open my eyes and I’m staring at an older cabin. The snow covers the roof, but I can see the dark, aged wood on the sides of the log cabin.

“My folks place is just up the hill.”

He grabs my hand and we walk to to the front of the cabin. He unlocks the door and we walk inside sealing out the frigid temperatures. It’s so charming in here. It’s small, but feels warm and inviting. The walls are logs, dark and aged, with a few pictures hanging up of various Harleys. There is leather sectional and little else as far as furniture. The kitchen is dated, but clean. It smells like this whole place has been given a good scrubbing.

“Wow, this place is really cool,” Ari says.

  “You like it?”

“It’s awesome, but I don’t get it. Why are we here?” Leave it to Ari to ask the most important, but blatantly obvious, question.

“Yeah, Daws. She’s right. This place is cool, but what are we doing here?”

“Well, I kinda bought it from my dad. He lived here while his place was being built. I know it’s not much, but he cut me a great deal. We’re neighbors with him, so I can keep an eye on him, and we’re super close to the clubhouse.”

“Daws, that’s great. It’s amazing. But why do you keep saying we?”

“Well, here’s the thing. I was hoping that you and Ari would maybe move in here with me?” Wow, I was not expecting this. I knew it was wearing on him having no place for us to go that wasn’t the clubhouse, but I didn't expect him to buy a place and then ask me and Ari to move in.

  “Daws, it’s really nice here.”

“Why do I feel a but coming on?” he asks.

“I’m not saying no. It’s just Ari has Gino and I don’t know if I want to move her again so soon.”

“Oh no, don’t put this on me. I love Gino, he’s my best friend. Sure, I’d miss him, but I’m sure that Daws would make sure I saw him all the time if this is what you want. Plus, I’ll see him at school.”

“Here, let me show you around,” he says taking my hand and moving me down a small hallway. He opens a door just off the living room and there is a small bathroom. The next door down is a bedroom. There is a small twin bed and a matching dresser and nightstand. “I figured we could let Ari decorate however she wanted.” Ari is hot on my tail as Daws grabs my hand and brings us across the hall.

The room is nice and it’s apparent that it is the place where Daws’ parents spent their time. Instead of the worn look of the living room, this room has a new large bed, with thick rich wooden posts. The bedding is black with crisp white sheets. There are more pillows on the bed than I’ve ever slept with in my life. The hardwood floors are polished so shiny that you can see your legs reflected in them. There is a large dresser with a mirror over it that almost looks antique with its design and charm.

Daws opens one of the doors in the bedroom, and I’m surprised to see another bathroom. This one is larger than the one in the hall. It has a modern shower with a seat made from stone. Besides the wall with the seat the other three walls are glass from the ground all the way to the ceiling. A double sink with modern fixtures is across from the shower.

“Wow, Daws. This is really nice.”

He leads me out of the bathroom and opens one more door in the bedroom which has a large walk-in closet.

“My mom likes her closets,” Daws says and continues, “So, what do you think? Will you move in with me?”

“I want to. I really do, but there is so much to consider.”

“You’re going to live here.” Now, he’s not asking, he’s telling.

“Daws, do you think that’s a good idea?”

“Well yeah, considering I bought this place. Listen, I have other reasons too. This is close to the clubhouse so if I have to be there I’ll know you’re safe and it’s also close to my parents, and no one is coming close to their place without anyone knowing. We have a feed on it at the clubhouse and I’ll add this place too. It’s the safest place I can think of for you both.”

I’m not sure if something has spooked Daws more or if it is just him being protective of us. “Daws, I love you. I love that you did this. I need to think about it though, okay?” I’m nervous to how he will react, but maybe he sees that I need to have some control over this issue.

“Okay. As long as when you are done thinking the answer is yes, then take some time and think about it. In the meantime, the snow is starting to come down out there pretty heavy, so I think that we should stay the night here.”

  “Ooh a sleepover,” Ari says.

“I’m going to go load up on wood for the fire. Why don’t you two make yourself at home. The fridge is stocked and I might even have more hot cocoa,” he says smiling as he throws his coat on and walks back outside.

“Would this really be okay with you?” I ask Ari while we have a moment alone.

“I’ll miss Gino, but I want to feel safe. He makes me feel safe.”

“Me too,” I say hugging Ari. Maybe she holds some of the same fears about Rich finding us. As much as I thought I’ve been doing a good job protecting her, maybe she is more afraid than I realize. “Me too,” I say again.

The storm is heavy outside. It’s a good thing that Daws stocked the fridge because we are snowed in. A fire blazes in the fireplace creating a warm glow throughout the room, illuminating Ari and Daws as they play Speed, a fast-paced game with cards. I finish making sandwiches, bring them to the pair and sit back and watch the game. Daws is incredibly good with Ari. I love that she feels safe with him and truth be told I feel safe with him as well.

After several more games Ari lets out a big yawn. “Ari, why don’t you go and get some rest?” I suggest and reach out to help her off the ground. Daws follows us into her room and he moves into the small closet.

“I wasn’t sure which you would want, so I got a few to choose from,” he says pulling a couple different bed in a bags from the closet.

“Oh Daws. I love them both,” she says hugging him around his waist.

I watch the two of them and feel like for the first time in my life that I have a family.

I walk in the kitchen to clean up from dinner. I’m wiping the last bit of crumbs into my hand and Daws walks up behind me. I’ve gotten used to him touching me over the past few months. I no longer flinch and I actually find myself seeking out his touch. We haven’t had much opportunity to be intimate, but when we are able to spend a night together, we try and make the most of it.

“Move in with me,” his voice comes out in a quiet whisper. His breath is warm against my shoulder. His hands grip my hips and turn me around. He leans into me and presses his head against my own. His dark eyes pierce deeply into my soul. I know I can’t deny this man anything.

I nod my head yes, “Okay Daws, we’ll move in with you.”

  “You will?” he asks unsure,
as if he doesn’t trust that I said yes.

“Yes, we’ll move in with you.”

Daws’ lips press against mine. The tenderness from his soft lips has me wanting so much more. But he isn’t going there with me. He is kissing me as soft and gentle as he can. He is loving me with his lips, showing me how he can be soft and gentle. He moves his kisses all over my face, kissing my eyelids, then my cheeks and finally my neck. I grab onto his shoulders, roughly, like I’m holding on for dear life, because maybe I am. I press my body into him and arch my neck at the same time. His hands caress my ass, then lift me up and set me on the counter. Daws’ teeth nip my neck and a chill runs through me. A good chill, the kind where you feel it all the way to your toes. I open my legs wide inviting him into me, and then a sudden thought invades my moment.

“Daws, Ari is in the other room. We…”

“She’s already sleeping. I checked on her.”

“Still, what if she wakes up?”

“Good point,” he says as he moves closer to me. He slides me forward so that my legs are around his waist and lifts me up and walks me back to his bedroom, our bedroom.

“I can’t wait to have you here every night,” he says to me as he lays me down on the bed. His hands reach the bottom of my shirt and lift it over my head. Daws’ hair falls loose from his ponytail and tickles my skin as he takes my full breast into his mouth. I run my fingers through his hair, tugging on it a little as his teeth gently tug on my taut nipple.

“Oh Daws,” I rasp out as his mouth leaves my nipple and he blows his hot breath across my skin.

  “I got you, sweet girl.”

  “You do, don’t you?”

“Yeah, and I’m never letting you go.”

I’ve heard this sentiment from him before and each time he says it, it makes me feel cherished and safe. He trails kisses down my belly and unbuttons my jeans, pulling them down with my panties. I close my eyes reveling in the feel of his tongue gliding over my body. For a moment, he is off of me and my body feels his absence until I open my eyes and see him stripping off his last piece of clothing. His body is perfect. He is muscular, but not overly so. He has just enough ink to be sexy, but not so much that it’s overwhelming. His shoulders along with his rippled abs might be my favorite, or it could be the V leading to his… Oh, who am I kidding? His body is perfect.

  “You like what you see?”

I blink, realizing that I have been caught ogling him.

“I really do.” I try out the most seductive smile I can. We may have not had a ton of opportunities to have sex again over the last several months, but we have been able to get used to each-other’s looks, and the look I’m giving him is saying more than enough.

“I get it. No more talking,” he says with a smirk.

His mouth descends on my clit, licking and swirling at a nice, even rhythm. I want to moan and call out his name, but Ari is in the next room. I react by bucking my hips forward. I’m rewarded with a devilish grin followed by Daws lifting my hips high and placing a pillow underneath my bottom. He inserts a finger, then another and swirls it around. His finger is curled upwards and with my angle the sensation is building rapidly. “Not yet, you don’t.” He slows and changes his pace stalling out the orgasm that was building. His mouth moves off of my clit.

“Aubrey, you ever been in control?”

“What do you mean?” I pant out.

  “You ever been on top?”

“No,” I say shaking my head, “You’re the only one Daws.”

“Good. I want you to ride me.” He flips to his back. His cock is raised against his stomach. I look over his body and lick my lips. He is giving me power by telling me to get on top. It’s something I need and crave. He must know how much this means to me. Just like everything he does, it feels thought out.

As seductively as I can I slide my body over his, moving my full breast over his erection. I kiss Daws’ chest until my lips meet his. His hands are still, not yet touching me, like he is letting me get acclimated to being in control. Control; what a concept. It’s not something I have ever truly felt until right now, at this moment.

I rub my pussy over his dick, getting it wet, gliding over him until I can hardly stand it. Slowly, I ease down on top of him feeling his girth on every part of my insides. The full delectable feeling I get from him is nothing I could imagine. My mind is blank, no real thoughts just pleasure and feeling. I ease up and slide back down again. The look in his eyes matches mine. I see lust, want, desire. This man desires me. I am desirable. I continue to move up and down. I kiss him hard. Our lips melt together. Daws’ teeth nip my lips. I put my hands in his hair and pull as the feeling of him fills me. I reach up and twine our fingers together. Sweat slides between our bodies making every movement more and more slick. I stare into the deep brown eyes reflecting everything I’m feeling.

Daws ignites every cell in my body. I’m on fire, a blazing inferno of sex and love. My insides are clenching. I feel everything tightening. Daws pushes his hips forward again and again, meeting me thrust for thrust until I’m ready to combust. As if he can sense that I am about to scream, he puts his hand over my mouth stifling my sounds as we both come hard. I’m so completely content. I wonder if life could always be this good, I think as I peacefully drift off to sleep.

The sound of a cell phone wakes me and I groggily sit up, “Daws, I think your phone is ringing.”

“Shit,” he curses stumbling out of bed, reaching into his jeans pocket to retrieve his phone. I lay back down and am half asleep, barely paying attention to Daws’ conversation.

“Go back to sleep, sweet girl. Jules is out front. I’m needed at the clubhouse.” He kisses me on the head, throws on his clothes and is out the door. I hear the lock click into place on the front door and I’m left with the thought, is this what our life will be like? Daws running off into the middle of the night?

  Chapter 16

  Daws

Crap. Not how I want to spend my first night with Aubrey and Ari at our place. Our place. I’m happier than hell she said she’d move in with me. I step outside into the frigid temperatures. Jules is sitting in the shop’s plow truck. I get in and he lowers the plow and pushes the freshly fallen snow out of the drive as we pull out.

  “What’s going on?” I ask.

“Stop acting like it’s all late. It’s only 11:30.” Aubrey and I must have dozed off earlier than I thought.

“We had a busy night,” I smirk.

  “I bet you did.”

“So, any idea why church is being called at 11:30 on a Friday night?”

“No clue. Dray just told me to go get you and started hollering about church and getting the brothers here.”

“Well, it can’t be good, if it’s this sudden,” I say as we pull into the clubhouse parking lot. Jules parks in the back towards a side entrance, letting me know that we’re headed straight for church.

The room is packed with brothers. Men are sitting in somewhat of a circle. We don’t have a large table with a gavel like you see on the TV shows. Mostly, it’s some couches and chairs in our community room. Cigarette smoke wafts through the room, making the air smell stale and dirty. I walk over to my old man and give him a side hug patting him on the back.

“How you feeling, old man?” I ask.

“This old ticker is doing just fine,” he says and then silences the room.

“Listen up, brothers. The first thing we need to discuss tonight is Patrick.” I look around realizing that he isn’t here. “Patrick was picked up on coke charges in Fremont. It wasn’t a small amount either and we don’t have anyone on the take in that department to help us out. I’ve made some calls to see what I can find out, but it looks like they are transferring him to County.”

Mickey takes a swig of beer and says, “We need to decide what we’re going to do about him? He’s been out of control. Not the kind of brother I trust watchin’ my back.”

  “Yeah, me either,” I interject.

  “So,
what do you boys wanna do? Patrick’s my brother and had my back more times than I can count. We started in this club together. I’m not ready to turn my back on him,” Jules says looking almost hurt at the mere suggestion of taking Patrick’s patch.

“I’m with Jules,” Jarrod jumps in.

Dray, after hearing everyone’s opinion, makes a decision, “Mickey, I want you to visit him first thing Monday morning. Tell him the club says he’s on probation, and he needs to get clean. No booze. No drugs. Nothing. We’ll get our attorney on him, but we need him to agree to getting clean and staying clean. The courts will probably impose some type of treatment so when his ass gets out we’re all going to make sure he’s going to stay sober. If he slips up, that’s it though. I’m giving him one chance.” The brothers all look around the room and nod in agreement. “Any objections?” Dray asks. The room is silent.

“Good. Moving on to more business. I heard from Carmine today. The Italians are feeling heat from this new interstate pact that Senator is leading. He has a shipment coming in and he already has a crew in New York. He needs men to follow a crew to Phili. Daws, I want you as a spotter.”

  “When?” I ask.

My dad looks at his watch, “Shipping out in about an hour.”

“Fuck! Really? Couldn’t give me any notice?” I’m annoyed. It’s not his fault, I know this. But Aubrey is sleeping and I hate to leave her a message waking her up. Maybe I can go and make it back before she wakes up?

Dray finishes the meeting and several men mill around talking. I walk over to my old man. He seems like he isn’t moving as fast as he was before his surgery. He also has dropped some weight. Not sure if it’s noticeable to anyone else or just me.

“Aubrey agreed to move into the cabin with me.”

“You finally got one willing to stick around, huh?” he says clapping me on the back.

“I want the same camera and feed that’s on your place added to the cabin. And since I’m leaving, I want one of the prospects to drive by the place every few hours to make sure its quiet.” I’m nervous about leaving her unprotected. At Angie’s, she had all of those guidos all over the damn place. Out here, she’s all by herself. Once I have the security in place, it will be safer, but I couldn’t wait to show her, so here we are.
