Mechs vs. Dinosaurs (Argonauts Book 8) Page 23

by Isaac Hooke

He knew the Argonauts had been incredibly lucky in their last mission, as had Shaw and Alex. That the team had suffered no losses other than a few mech and robot frames seemed almost impossible to believe. Rade was worried that in the next mission, the universe would resort to extreme measures to balance itself out. He reminded himself that the laws of nature didn’t work that way. The gambler’s fallacy: just because you were having a string of bad runs, didn’t mean that your luck was about to take a turn for the better. And vice versa. Yes, the Argonauts would continue to surmount anything that was thrown at them. He would see to it.

Besides, he didn’t believe in luck.

Rade dismissed the video feed and stared at the distant planet on his tactical display. Seeing that small, digital sphere made his anger blaze anew.

We’re coming for you, Zhidao. I swear we are. You thought you could stop me by attempting to kill my girl, and my kid? Well you miscalculated big time.

  No one harms my family.

And so the bug hunt continued.

Without you all, this novel would have typos, continuity errors, and excessive lapses in realism. Thank you for helping me make this the best military science fiction novel it could possibly be, and thank you for leaving the early reviews that help new readers find my books.

And of course I’d be remiss if I didn't thank my mother, father, and brothers, whose untiring wisdom and thought-provoking insights have always guided me through the untamed warrens of life.
