The Reluctant Prom Date (The Reluctant Series Book 4) Page 18

by Melanie Brown

“It’s not fair! That should have been me, not you!” She squirmed in her wheelchair.

Just then Coach Renwick came up to Nikki. Coach looked at me with an apologetic expression and said quietly, “Nikki sweetie. Let’s go over to the snack table and get some cheese.”

Nikki glanced up to Coach, smiled and said, “Oh, I like cheese.” Coach then turned the wheelchair around and disappeared through the crowd of dancing teenagers.

Joey just stood there a second and said, “What the fuck…?”

“Let’s just keep dancing,” I said. Nikki was right. I took her position, but it certainly wasn’t my fault. Still, I started to feel bad.

“I said, what are your college plans?” asked Joey. I was lost in thought for a moment and didn’t know he had been talking.

“Well, I got the scholarship, so it’d be crazy not to go to County College. It might not be as good as State, but it’s still a good school. Of course, I’m committed to be a cheerleader there. They go to nationals every year, so I’ll probably have to borrow Diane again!”

Joey laughed. I loved his laugh. Biting my lower lip, I studied his face up and down. I was in love with Joey.

I saw a hand fall on Joey’s shoulder and a familiar voice asked, “Hey man, can I cut in for a minute? Thanks.” I was shocked to see Joey step aside as Jeff took his place. Jeff grinned as he looked at me and said, “I just had to dance at least once at the prom with the most beautiful boy in school.”

I frowned at him as I said, “I’m not a boy, Jeff. Now, let me get back to Joey.”

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that,” said Jeff with a faked sincere voice. “But like I said, I wanted to get in one dance tonight. For a while there, I really, truly thought that Prom Night would be our night. Joey’s a nice guy. Does he know what’s between your legs?”

“You can stop now Jeff,” I said, growing pissed off.

Dani came up to us and said, “Oh, there you are! Why are you dancing with her? I’m feeling lonely Jeffie.” She tugged on Jeff’s arm.

Jeff gave me a look of dismissal and as he took Dani’s arm said, “Oh, I’m done here. I’m ready to go back to dancing with a real girl.”

I refrained from telling Jeff that he needs to check up Dani’s dress. If Dani didn’t stop the direction she was going, Jeff might find out later tonight anyway.

As Joey took my hand and put his other on my hip, he said, “What was all that about?”

I shook my head and said, “It’s nothing. Just closing that last door on my past.”

There was a scream and a sudden ruckus behind Joey. Someone shouted “Oh shit! Someone grab her!” I looked through the crowd in time to see Nikki’s runaway wheelchair slam into the DJ’s equipment and Nikki somersaulted into the amplifiers and speakers with one of the speakers falling on top of her with a sickening crunch. Coach Renwick and the football jock that brought her in rushed to her. A shout of “Somebody call an ambulance!” resulted in over a hundred cell phones being whipped out.

The prom went into standby mode while waiting for paramedics to arrive. When they did and looked her over, I could barely make out one of them saying to Coach, “No local hospital will be able to help her. The closest is two hundred miles away. She’ll have to be air lifted. The helicopter was re-directed to here after it was already in the air heading to the airport for refueling…”

The prom was beginning to wind down while Joey and I were still on the dance floor.

I looked up into Joey’s face, “I had a great time tonight, Joey. With just a couple things I hope I can forget, it was the perfect prom.”

Joey smiled at me with a big grin, “I had a great time too, Chrissy. There’s no doubt that I was here with the most beautiful girl at school.” He glanced down at his watch. He then said, “Your dad said we can stay out until two, right? Since it’s a special night? And it’s just a quarter past ten now, right?”

I looked at Joey strangely, “Yeah, it was very un-Dad-like, but he did say that, while cleaning his AK-47 if I remember correctly.”

Joey looked away as he said, “Um yeah. I remember that.” His face brightened a bit as he said, “I have a surprise for you.”

Alarm bells started going off in my head. Some good, some bad. Was he giving me a ring? Seemed too early for that. Was he going to… oh God surely not… I stopped dancing and asked, “A surprise? What kind of surprise, Joey?”

Joey hesitated for a long moment as if he was conflicted. Finally he said quietly, “I rented a room in the hotel tonight for us.”

Oh… My… God. I must have looked ridiculous standing there with my jaw hanging open that far. Did I hear him right? He couldn’t have said that. He just couldn’t have…

  “What?” I managed to squeak.

Slowly he said, “I rented a room for us. Is that ok?” He suddenly looked embarrassed and quickly said, “Hey, if not, that’s ok. I’ll go right now and cancel it. I mean, it’s ok. Really.”

It was one of those moments in your life that you have no idea if you’re making a good or bad decision. But it becomes one of those defining moments of your life, one that fundamentally changes you forever.

I held his hand tightly, “Let’s see the room, Joey.”

Somewhere in Joey’s head the words “Hot Damn!” were ringing back and forth. He just smiled at me and said as he pulled a key card from his pocket, “That’s great, honey! Let’s go.”

We walked back out to the lobby towards the elevators, which were located right by the entrance to the hotel. As the elevator doors were about to close after we got in, I heard Jeff’s voice from outside shout, “You’re a what!?...”

“Champagne? How Joey? You’re not old enough.” I pulled the bottle out of the ice and looked it over.

Joey tossed his bow tie on the bed, “I used my dad’s ID to get the room. I made the arrangements over the phone.”

With surprise in my voice, I said, “Your dad let you use his ID?”

Joey looked sheepish, “He doesn’t know yet. I plan to pay him back one of these days.” He took the bottle from me and said, “Here. Let me open that.”

As he poured a glass for me, I said, “Joey, we’re going to be in so much trouble.”

Joey frowned slightly as he said, “Let’s don’t think about it until tomorrow. Let’s just live for the now. Right now is all that is important.” He handed me the glass and walked over to the room’s TV and set the cable to a music station playing soft, romantic music.

I tasted the champagne and I have to admit that I didn’t much care for it. But I kept sipping at it, knowing how much trouble Joey was going to get into for it. I looked around the room. It was more than just a hotel room. It was one of the suites. I’m sure this was costing Joey’s dad a bundle.

Joey sat on the room’s sofa and patted the cushion next to him. As I sat down, I saw him press something on a box he was holding and the lights dimmed down. He put his arm around my shoulders and I snuggled up against him.

“This is very nice,” I said in a half whisper. “Very nice.” I then nuzzled up against his neck.

“I’d hoped you would like it,” he said as he downed his drink. He set the glass on the sofa arm, bent his head down and started kissing my neck and shoulders. I gulped the rest of my drink, and accidently dropped the glass behind the sofa. He started nibbling my ear.

As our kissing became more and more passionate, I felt Joey reach around and start to unzip my dress. We continued to kiss and suck on each other’s tongues as our breathing became more intense. The passion building up between us was becoming unbearable. Joey stood up and I followed him, finding his lips with mine and again pressed into him with hot kisses.

Joey finished unzipping my dress and it slipped from my shoulders exposing my breasts. The dress slid down my body to the floor exposing my panties and stockings. He led me to the bed and pulled the cover back. I reached up and pulled some pins and my hair casca
ded about my shoulders. As I sat down on the bed, he quickly removed his shirt. I reached up and unbuckled his belt. My breathing was becoming more rapid by the second. I started to fumble with his pants, but he gently pushed me on my back, and unbuttoned his pants himself and they slid to the floor.

He lay down next to me and wrapped his arms around me and began kissing me even more passionately. I pressed my breasts into his flesh and the emotion and excitement swelled higher than I’ve ever felt it before. I reached down and caught his underwear with my thumb and pulled it down his leg. He pressed into my panties. I started to moan as we kissed and wrestled on the bed.

He sucked on one nipple while massaging the other. I moaned deeply with pleasure at his touch. Massaging both my tits, he kissed me long and hard. My emotions were swirling. Joey’s cock pressed hard against my panties.

With one last long kiss, Joey pulled back and grinned at me. He suddenly rolled me over and quickly pulled down my panties. I felt his manhood against my ass...

That night, like many girls on prom night, I gave Joey the gift of my virginity.

“Did you enjoy your prom?” Dad asked as I closed the front door and heard Joey’s car drive away. It was five minutes to two. We had just barely beaten the curfew. I had brushed my hair back out and repaired my make-up so I hoped I just looked tired and not like I just had sex.

“Yeah Dad, it was great. Thanks for waiting up. I’m really tired, so I think I’ll go to bed now.”

“Sure Princess,” Dad said as he kissed my forehead. “Sleep tight.”

Tight. That’s for sure. I hoped my dress hid the motion of my legs enough. I was in pain. I didn’t say anything to Joey, but my ass was on fire. I walked slowly down the hall to my room and found someone else was waiting for me and sitting on my bed.

“Hey sis,” Diane greeted. “I just wanted to know how the prom went.” She looked at me for a moment then asked, “Why are you walking funny?” Before I could say anything, she gasped and put her hand over her mouth.

She jumped up, and gently closed the door. She sat back down on the bed and I sat down next to her. She gasped excitedly, “Oh my God, you didn’t!” I nodded and she continued, “You did… oh-my-God.”

We sat in silence for a moment before she said, “Welcome to a bigger world, sis. Nothing will look the same to you anymore. You’re a woman now.”

“I love him, Diane,” I said quietly.

“Yeah, well, I loved the guy I gave my virginity to on prom night too.” Diane stared off into space.

I looked at my sister sideways and asked, “You don’t think it’s real?”

She gave me a big hug, “I hope so sis. I really do.”

It was late morning after graduation night when I finally climbed out of bed. I had been out most of the night with the girls celebrating and crying about the end of high school. Our lives would never be the same again, and we all knew it, even though we all promised to stay close friends. Joey didn’t join us as he was still grounded.

Still in my camisole and pajama bottoms, I sat down on the couch and turned the TV on. As I skimmed through the channels, my dad came in from the garage. He just stood there and I could feel his eyes burning into the back of my head. I’m sure he was thinking about the plans we’d made last summer that when I graduated, he’d buy an old junker for both of us to work on to restore. A guy project.

He walked up to the couch and with a creak in his knees and a groan, he sat down next to me and for a moment just stared at the TV with me, as I blankly hit the channel changer. Finally he looked at me and said, “I’m never getting my son back, am I?”

I stopped changing the channels and turned slowly to face him. I found his face hard to read and I felt tears slowly build in my eyes. I said softly, “No Dad. He’s never coming back. I… I’m sorry.”

He nodded and stared at his hands for a few moments. Then he patted me on the leg, and as he slowly stood up, he said, “It’s okay, Princess. It’s okay.” He kissed my forehead and walked back out to the garage.
