Keep Her Forever Page 10

by Maria Jackson

I restrained myself to running my fingers down her stomach, resting them just above her sex. “Is this what you want?”

She eased herself up onto her elbows, slowly uncrossing her legs. “That works for now.”

So she was ready for more than fingering. I filed the information away in my mind as I began to stroke her gently. Her skin was silky smooth under my hand, but even better was how she gave out little gasps as I moved my fingers back and forth.

“You’re fucking good at this,” she breathed.

  “Welcome to lesbian life.”

I massaged her like that, slowly and carefully, holding back from anything that would make her come. I wanted to take my time with her, to savor every second of our interaction. I didn’t plan to let her get away from me without playing with her first. After the amount of time I’d waited for this, there was no way was I going to let it end so fast.

After a few minutes of teasing her like that, I eased myself onto the bed. I pretended like I was going to go between her legs, but instead lay down at her side. I kept rubbing her as if I hadn’t done anything at all.

She frowned at me, but didn’t say anything. I suppressed a grin. How far could I go with this? Still stroking, I propped myself up on my elbow. When I peeked at her face, she looked tense and ready for it. Instead of moving down where she wanted me, I scratched my head.

  “Are you fucking with me?”

“I think that would be a bit much for our first date, don’t you?”

Being deliberately obtuse was way too much fun. I might have to start doing it all the time. Topaz was catching on, though, and she looked like she was desperate for what I was teasing at.

“Just do it,” she groaned, flopping back on the bed and running her hand through her hair.

I teased her clit with my thumb. “Do what?”

  “You know…”

“No, I can’t guess. Tell me.”

Her legs shook, and her teeth dug into her palm. “Down on me,” she mumbled.

  “I’m sorry, what was that?”

“I said, go down on me.” Her voice had an edge to it, as if she was on the verge of coming already. Her clit throbbed insistently as I thumbed it.

This time, I let my grin come out. I needed to let my evil side out more often. “I’m sorry, I’m not familiar with that expression. Could you say it another way?”

“I’m asking…” She swallowed, her eyes squeezing shut. “I’m asking if you can lick me there.”

“Of course. Why didn’t you say something?” I bent my head down and licked all the way up her folds, right to her clit.

That much stimulation was a good way to drive any woman crazy, and Topaz was no exception. I wouldn’t be bragging if I said I’d gotten her pretty worked-up with my tease—that would only be stating obvious facts—so she was already barely holding herself back from the edge.

Her body bucked under me, and I strained to see her face. Her jaw hung open, and she threw her head back before I could see any more of her. “Fuck, Heidi!”

I might have made a smart comment about that, too, but my mouth was busy. I licked deliberately a few times, enjoying the power I currently had over her. Having her under me like this made me desperate to switch roles. I hoped that would be coming soon. I could hardly wait to feel her move inside me…

The fantasies going through my mind had me more turned on than ever. My measured tongue strokes quickly became less careful and methodical, more wild and frenzied. When Topaz began to explode, I shoved a hand down my pants. It only took a moment of frantic rubbing for me to come along with her.

“Fuck,” she said when I brought up my head.

I smirked. “How’d you like your introduction to lesbian sex?”

“You’re an evil, evil person.” Shuddering as she lay back down, she dragged me into her arms.

  FIFTEEN—TOPAZ

As consciousness returned to me, all I knew for sure was that I was in my own bed. The sheets were the eight hundred thread count Egyptians—I could identify that soft fabric without even being awake. And the stream of sunlight trickling through the window came at a familiar angle.

Something was off, though. The bed was warm. There was something beside me—or was it someone? I opened my eyes, blinking as I took in the gorgeous half-naked woman at my side. Then I noticed the seven dogs who were also in the bed.

“Good morning,” Heidi said, giving me a languorous smile. “I’ve been keeping still so I wouldn’t wake you up. I thought the dogs would ruin it, but it’s like they were conspiring to let you sleep in.”

I returned the smile as I stretched. “Thank you for that. I feel amazing.”

And it was true. It wasn’t only that I was well-rested, either. I felt warm inside… content. My body was still in a way that it’d never been in my memory. I was at peace.

Now that the puppies were four weeks old, their eyes were open. Every day they looked more and more like actual dogs. We’d allowed them out of the whelping box a day or two ago, and their fumbling explorations around the house were an endless source of amusement.

This was the first time they’d all been in the bed with us. I looked from one to the next, smiling harder as I took in Dorkbrain’s slow blinks and Dillhole’s wagging tail. I hoped they would join us here regularly.

One by one, each puppy stood up. As they started to roughhouse, Heidi shook her head at them. “We’d better kick these guys out. They’re going to get in the way.”

“What, you have some activities planned for us?”

“I sure do.” She gave me a long kiss, then picked up each puppy and placed it gently outside the door. I waited in bed, watching her, getting more turned on with every second she took.

We’d fooled around a few times over the past several days, ever since that first time when she tortured me. I was blown away enough the first time, and somehow it only seemed to get better.

I wondered how Heidi was able to read me like that, to play my body so expertly. Was it just that she had the same equipment herself? Or was it something deeper? Some intrinsic chemistry between us?

This time was as incredible as ever, and I was proud of myself for the way I’d started to please her back. I hadn’t worked up to going down on her yet, but she didn’t seem to mind. As she lay panting in the aftermath of her release, I pulled myself out of the bed.

  “I’d better check on Dipshit.”

Heidi yawned, rolling onto her side to watch me go. “You know, there are six puppies. You pay an awful lot of attention to that one.”

“So what? She needs more attention. It’s not like I’m ignoring the others.”

“They’re all important,” she said. “They all need attention.”

“Not the same amount of attention,” I corrected, turning back to frown at her. “Dipshit is the runt of the litter, and she’s not the same as the others. She hasn’t gained weight like the rest of them, and she’s not whining and wiggling around like she used to.”

Heidi closed her eyes, sinking into the bed again. “Good. I hope she grew out of that. It annoyed me.”

“But her personality is to be restless and whine a lot. She shouldn’t be so quiet.”

  She shrugged, still looking sleepy.

I went out to the hall. Dipshit was right there where Heidi had left her. She hadn’t run away like the others had. The rest of them were at various places in the hall, still play-fighting each other or their mother. Since being approved to come out of the whelping box, they’d quickly taken over the house.

Dipshit just sat there. When I looked at her, she gave me a pleading look back.

“What do you want to say to me?” I asked her. Of course she didn’t answer. “I really wish you could talk. I have no idea what’s going on in your adorable little mind.”

I hoped Heidi was right. She knew a lot more than I did about dogs. If she wasn’t concerned, I shouldn’t be either. But something was just telling me this wasn’t right.

  By
the time we’d both showered and brushed our teeth, it was well past noon. “Pancakes?” I asked Heidi.

  She nodded. “Pancakes.”

The first time we made pancakes, almost a month ago, Heidi wanted to use a store-bought mixture. I soon broke her of that habit. Pancakes were about the easiest thing in the world to put together, and there was no reason to pay twice as much to have your flour and baking soda pre-combined.

We cooked, nibbling bits and pieces as we went. When we’d cooked all the batter, there were only a couple of pancakes left. I flicked a dab of batter onto Heidi’s nose. “This one’s for you.”

She rubbed it off, then grabbed one of the few remaining pancakes. “As long as I can get this one, too.”

We sat down at the table, and I leaned on my elbow and looked at her. This wasn’t the kind of relationship I would ever have thought I’d want, but now that I was letting myself be in it, I was happier than I could’ve imagined. Who cared what my family would think? They’d deal with it… I hoped. When I got around to telling them.

“What are we going to do about tomorrow?” Heidi asked.

  I took a bite. “What’s tomorrow?”

She gave me a look of exaggerated shock. “It’s the puppies’ two-week birthday. Shouldn’t we celebrate?”

“I don’t know. How would we even do that, buy a dog cake?”

  “We could.”

I’d been teasing, but I could definitely picture Heidi doing exactly that. “Maybe we should save it for their one month birthday.” I paused, calculating in my mind. “Hey, it’s also our one-week anniversary tomorrow. One week since our first date, anyway.”

“I’m well aware,” she said. “You finally caught up.”

“Not my fault. Feels like we’ve been dating so much longer.”

I still felt a little weird about being with a girl, but mostly because of what my family would think. I was sure I’d get nothing but support from my blog followers, if and when I decided to come out to them. Once I got Heidi really up to date on the style stuff, I could see us posting some adorable pictures together. Selfies of me alone were getting old.

Yes, I thought contentedly, one week is only the beginning.

“Do you really have to go?” I groaned in the morning.

Heidi disentangled herself, first from the sheets and then from my arms. “If you want me to keep my job, yes.”

“I have a new job for you.”

A playful smile crossed her face as she nudged a few puppies out of her path. “Do I want to know what it is?”

“It’s the personal assistant to a local style blogger. Great girl, you’d like her.”

  “Hmm… duties?”

I propped myself up on an elbow. “Making her food, giving her cuddles, generally catering to her every need.”

Sitting up gave me a better view of her with nothing on. I felt the blood rush through me as I took in her form. If the spoon body type wasn’t my favorite before, it definitely was now.

Heidi picked up a towel and slung it over her shoulder, looking back at me as she stood in the doorway. “Sounds all right. How’s the pay?”

“A-ma-zing,” I said, drawing out each syllable. “Trust me, you’ve never been paid like this before. And it’s all under the table.”

“I don’t know.” She turned to face me, the new view of her making my mouth water. “How can I be sure the boss wouldn’t hit on me?”

“Would that be so bad? My boss hits on me all the time, and I just go along with it.”

Kicking the sheets off , I put a hand between my legs. I was only joking around, but Heidi’s face lit up… and when she threw down the towel and jumped back onto the bed, I definitely wasn’t complaining.

She did have to leave eventually, though—rushing out because now she was late. The day passed painfully slowly without her there, and even the dogs, with all their cuteness, couldn’t make me less lonely.

I just wanted her with me all the time. Life was better when she was around. It felt like I’d finally found the other piece of myself that I’d been missing. I’d never known I could even feel like this about another person.

So when I finished with my blog stuff, I glanced at the time. It was almost five. Heidi took a while to get back from the hotel where she worked, so I probably had time to pull this off. I took the car and drove to the grocery store.

The guy behind the counter gave me a funny look when I told him what I wanted written on the cake, but he did it anyway. I smiled to myself as I balanced the white box in my arms.

Heidi was getting home when I pulled into the driveway. She got out of the car and waved, looking genuinely happy I was home.

I tried to hide the cake behind me, but she’d already seen it. “You didn’t,” she said, nearly doubling over with laughter. “I can’t believe it. Is it for us or for them?”

“You’ll find out after dinner.” I led her inside and set the cake on the counter.

  “All right, fine.”

As soon as I turned my back to open the fridge, she grabbed the box. I spun around and caught her in the act. My failed attempt to snatch it back from her was apparently the most hilarious thing that’d ever happened.

“Oh, you want to laugh?” I sank my fingers into her abdomen, searching for that certain spot that always got her.

  “Ahh!”

There it was. Her head rolled back and her mouth opened in a joyful-looking grimace. She shouted at me between labored breaths.

“Stop that! Topaz, stop right now!”

I tickled harder, satisfied by the sight of her face going red.

“If you don’t stop that, I’m going to drop the cake!”

With regret, I let her go. She’d already made quite a dent in the box. I took it back and peeked inside. At least it wasn’t harmed.

“All I wanted to do was see the cake,” she panted, folding her arms over her stomach.

“And all I wanted you to do was wait until after dinner. But fine.” I opened the box, presenting it to her. “It’s for both—us and the puppies.”

She cracked up once more when she saw the inscription: “Happy One Week to Heidi, Happy Two Weeks to the Six Ds.”

“You’re the best.” She put her arms around me and planted a kiss on my cheek. “And the next cake we’re going to eat is your coming-out cake.”

  SIXTEEN—HEIDI

“Hello, beauty! How are you doing today?” Dr. Colwin cooed to Diamond. His bright smile lit up the sterile office. “And hello to you, puppies! You’re looking so big and healthy.”

“We’re all doing well,” I said, using my forearm to block Diamond from jumping off the table. “Topaz just wanted me to take them in for another check-up.”

“No such thing as being too careful.” Dr. Colwin adjusted the miniature stethoscope around his neck. “I didn’t find any problems last time, but we’ll give them another look. No particular concerns, though? They’re eating well?”

“Pretty well.” I smiled at the sight of the wriggling puppies on the table. They were confused to be here. This was their first real change of scenery since their eyes had opened. “They seem to be coming along normally. It’s really my… roommate… who wanted them to come in today.”

I’d almost said “girlfriend,” but caught myself. Someday soon, I hoped to be able to use that word. Neither of us had said it yet. Topaz was so new at this whole dating girls thing, I didn’t want to get too intense and scare her away.

She hadn’t used any labels yet, not even “girl I’m seeing.” I wondered if she was avoiding that discussion because of her closetedness, or if she even saw our relationship going in that direction.

For my part, I was a little scared. This felt very different from my other relationships, but could I be sure Topaz felt the same? Saying what I wanted in my head was one thing. Saying it to her, out loud, was another. Maybe it was better to put off that conversation for a while.

“Yes, I remember your roommate,” the vet said as he held
up Dorkbrain and inspected her. “Nice girl… very pretty. I thought she was your partner at first, actually.”

  “Oh. Well… ah…”

He picked up the next puppy, raising an eyebrow at me. “If she’s not, she should be. Both of you were giving each other the eye last time I saw you.”

My cheeks were flaming hot. I was getting love advice from my vet, and what’s worse, he was right. “We’ve been getting a little closer recently. It just isn’t official yet.”

“I see!” He examined Dorkbrain’s ears and teeth, then reached for Dipshit. “This one’s smaller, I think.” After holding her in the air, he placed her on the scale. “Yes, she’s much smaller.”

“Right.” I’d almost forgotten Topaz was especially concerned about this one. Dr. Colwin knew all the puppies’ names, but I still felt the need to apologize every time. “Dipshit—excuse my language—has been a bit off lately. She hasn’t been eating much or playing.”

The vet frowned. Humming softly to himself, he opened the puppy’s little mouth and peered inside. “Any other issues with her?”

“Oh, yes.” I’d been so thrown off by his comments about Topaz, I’d almost forgotten the most important thing. “She had diarrhea this morning. We think it was her, anyway. Neither of us saw it happen, but it was in her usual spot, and given how she’s been acting funny…”

Dr. Colwin nodded, interrupting before I could finish my thought. “This may or may not be cause for concern. I’d like you to keep a very close eye on her. If she presents any other signs, we may need to take her in for further care.”

  “What kind of care?”

“If her temperature is low, we’ll slowly warm her to normal over several hours. She might also need oxygen supplementation or intravenous fluid therapy. She’s probably fine, but…”

My heart stuttered in my chest. She had to be fine. Poor Dipshit—I hadn’t wanted to believe anything was actually wrong with her. The puppies I’d fostered before never got sick. Everything had to turn out okay this time. It always did.
